Disney Gift Card Deals

I haven't used my Discover card in ages and they just sent me an offer to get $100 cash back if I spend $1,000 by August 31. I will buy $1,000 worth of Disney gift cards at Target and get $100 back! Probably a targeted offer, but it wouldn't hurt to see if you can get it!

Or, if you have a target red card, you can buy $1000 worth of target gift cards & get the $100 back from your discover card. Then go online with your target red card as the default payment method and use the gift cards to get Disney gift cards & save an extra 5%, ultimately giving you a savings of 15% off. And if you're going to use it to pay off a Disney trip or for park tickets (or anything else directly through Disney) you could enter all the gift cards into a Disney Vacation Club Account & get $20 back after spending $1000! :) The only thing is, the Disney Vacation Account has to be open for more than 120 days before you spend the $1000 to get the $20 bonus.

Good idea! Too close to my trip to open the Disney account, heard too many horror stories about it anyway

I wanted to say thanks for everyone contributing to this thread. I didn't realize this was a thing!

Just wanted to make sure I'm getting this correct because my fiance and I are planning for a trip next year. We're from California, so this will be a big trip for us (my first time and her return in a long time). I use a Southwest Chase Visa Credit Card that we have a lot of points on (saving for a Japan Trip hopefully). I would essentially buy discounted Target GC at Raise.com with my SW Chase. Then load these cards to a primary target gift card to avoid losing my balance from individual sellers on Raise. Buy Disney GC at Target.com and have them mailed to me? Total of 8% discount from Raise and 5% from Target Red Card?

Could we buy these Disney GC in store with Target Cards or is it only doable online? Or is it a YMMV deal for in-store? Don't like the idea of GC getting stolen or lost in the mail.

And we are hoping to catch next year's Free Dining Package in 2016. So everything will be booked by Disney World's Website. I was reading various sources that you cant do multiple payment sources within a transaction. BUT I did read that you can pay in installments on the Disney's Site (up to 45 days before your check in). So is it safe to say that we can make the first $200 deposit online , then through multiple transaction make payments with our GCs through this target method? I hope that made sense!

Thanks again guys!

You've got it! So a total of 13% off more or less. Raise discounts go up & down so grab them at 8% while you can. I've seen them mostly at 4% and then going up to 8-10% around holidays, graduations, etc. I guess more people are looking to get rid of gift cards during those times. :)

You only get the extra 5% off if you buy online with your red card as the default payment method. You then change the payment method to the gift card but the 5% discount stays. It won't work in stores because you have to use the red card to pay in order to get the discount. And the discount only applies to what is paid with the red card in stores so you can't buy something else & pay partial red card & partial gift card.

If you're purchasing through Disney, an idea is to create a Disney vacation account. You can enter all the gift cards into that account, essentially combining the forms of payment, and use the account to pay for your trip/tickets. If you open the account at least 120 days before you pay for the trip, you'd also get an extra $20 back for every $1000 you spend! It has had some glitches but I have one & used it to pay for my trip without any issues once the site was back up and running. :). Don't add cards for things you want to pay for at Disney though (such as souvenirs).

Can I just say that I am SO frustrated with Disney Vacation Account? I was part of the whole disappearing gift card funds debacle a few weeks back and after numerous phone calls and emails back and forth, repeating the same information over and over to be 'sent off' to some other department I still only have $50/$150 back. The fact that they didn't shut the ability to add funds off immediately after finding out about this known issue only to allow how many more people to add funds that disappeared is ridiculous--and here we are a month later and it is still not fixed. If it isn't taken care of soon I am going to ask to speak to someone higher up.

Obviously there have been recent problems with the DVA website. But this is a new one I haven't seen. Anyone else have issues with just one or two of your gift cards not working when you input them into the DVA website? I sat here for the past 30 minutes inputting 20 gift cards and making sure they all credited to my account. 2 of the twenty gave me an error message. Something about the form expiring. I logged out, logged back in and tried them again....same error message. So I thought maybe my cards weren't activated. Went to the website to check balance, and both cards show activated and have my $50 balance on them. Went back to the DVA website to try again....same error message for both cards. It's so weird and random. Anyone else experienced this? Thinking I may just have to use those gift cards for souvenirs or something.

I'm just checking. But when I read the message associated with the target e gift card from raise it states you cant purchase other gift cards with it. Is this true? Would like to find out before i buy one

You cannot purchase Visa, MasterCard, AmEx or other such "money-bearing" GCs with a Target GC. You can still purchase a Target GC or any of the so-called "entertainment" GCs with a Target GC.

Target is trying to charge me sales tax again. What was the trick for getting rid of it?

I'm so sorry this is happening to you! I had a giftcard drained and not credited (it happened during that time when the site was down forever, but came back up briefly once or twice). I sent and email immediately, but then couldn't get into my account for a few days. When I finally did it was there! A got an email a few days later to say it was there. I hope they fix this for you soon!

okay one more question. How do i load the egift card to a primary target gift card to avoid losing the balance from individual sellars after i've purchased from Raise?

On Target.com, log into your account. Then, on the top banner, select “Gift Card”. Scroll down, enter the card number and PIN, and click “Look it up”. It will then give you the option to save that gift card to your Target account. Now, I’m not sure if that would prevent someone else from redeeming the same gift card but at least it will save time at checkout.

That won't do it. The GC # and access # remain the same when you do this. You actually want to combine the purchased GC on a GC that you were the first person to own, such as a GC that you received from a "GC w/purchase" promotion. You will need to use a smartphone Target app to accomplish this. The steps for doing it have been mentioned multiple times in this thread. Just do a thread search to find them.

I don't think this has been asked before, but am I able to purchase gift cards online using my combined, stored gift cards on my app? I've only used the app when I'm in the store to purchase but home would be even better!

Update: used online with no problem

So what is the normal top % on Raise.com for Target cards. I purchased a card a few weeks ago for 8.6% but they haven't gotten higher than 7 since... was the 8.6 a lucky break or does it happen from time to time and you just have to watch?

I've seen it go as low as 3 or 4% and higher when it is near holidays or graduation season. I guess more people have gift cards to sell around those times. But the norm during the "low season" is around 4% so get them at this higher discount rate while you can! 8.6% was a great deal! ;)

The Target ones tend to stay between 6-7.5% on Raise. I've seen them up to 10% but they go very fast! I was able to get one at 8% yesterday.

I've seen them go up pretty high, but like another said, they go FAST. I've taken to sitting on the site and refreshing all day to try to get a high discount. 8.6 is pretty good, that's usually around what I try to get always now.
