Disney Gift Card Deals

I just tried to purchase thru Cardcash and use the rest of a prepaid visa GC. I knew I didn't have enough to cover the amount I was purchasing as was hoping it would give me the option to use a 2nd payment method for the remainder but instead it said it went to "fraud prevention" for review. Oh no--I look naughty:oops:!
My plan which I have sort of tested out is buy prepaid Visa GC at the grocery store with 6% CC, use that to buy Target GC @ 5-8% (going thru a portal for 1-2%) , use the redcard, then into my DVA. IF all goes accordingly I might be able to get 19-23% off but I think it might be tough to make sure it goes as planned when it works out to be a million different transactions here and there and you don't always know if you get the rebate/cashback until after the transaction is finalized.

Does anyone know when your AMEX Blue Cash Rewards shows up on your statement? I want to make sure I will get them for buying a Visa GC at the grocery store and there isn't some fine print I am missing.

Did you factor in the activation fee for the prepaid Visa? It tends to be about $6, which would negate your 6% CC rewards if you're purchasing $100 Visa cards.

And like you pointed out, there will undoubtedly be small amounts leftover on the Visa here and there, which also cuts into your overall discount on the Disney GCs.

I'm guessing there are fuel points involved. I know with kroger when they run 4x fuel points it's an extra 14% on top of the 6% back from amex with a 35 gallon fill up (two vehicles or gas cans).

The amex reward has a one month lag. My billing period ended May 11 and a few days later I got reward dollars for the statement that closed in April.

I have never heard of an automated system. I have always had to give individual GC numbers over the phone. You can combine them in a DVA account, then you only have to call in 1 "GC" number...

I never knew you could do this...just signed up for a DVA and entered part of my stash of disney gift cards...not a bad way to start...I couldn't stand using all the gift cards on our last trip...of course I still have small handful of ones that are less than $6...oh well...

No ebates cash back on my Disney GC orders from Target either.
Ebates has a condition on their Target page that says they won't apply rebates for any gift cards :( I don't know when that started, but I sure wish it would go away!

I did factor in the gift card price somewhat- assuming I was able to purchase 6 $500 visa gift cards. I won't get any fuel rewards from purchasing a visa/amex gift card (excluded from fuel points at my Safeway). Anyway, both myself and my husband have the Just4U coupon accounts with them and have received deals for $15 off a $150 amex GC--with activation fee it works out to be a $9.05 money maker so I figure those couple of deals have offset some of the activation fees. I am reluctant to try $500 on a gift card simply because not everywhere lets you buy a visa gc with a credit card. A few $150 experiments have worked but who knows if I can pull off more...It's worth a shot though. If it doesn't work I will scrap the idea. I want as few transactions as possible. Too much room for confusion and error. I have a pretty detailed spreadsheet going though. I am having fun with this little game so far, although it is pretty ridiculous since there are more available overtime shifts at work than I could ask for which would more than make up for the savings and probably require less time.
Unfortunately there is only so many hours of laboring women you can stand in a week:crazy:

CardCash.com has Target gift cards at 8.5% off today and there are quite a few available. I just bought a $95.38 card for $87.27 and it showed up in my inbox within 10 minutes:cool1:! I turned around and promptly bought $100 worth of Disney cards:thumbsup2.

8.5% sounds like a pretty good deal on Target gift cards, so it got me wondering--what's the best reduction on them you have seen in the last few years? We've got 18 months before our next trip so if there are traditionally better deals at a certain time of year, I can wait for that. Judging by history, how low might it go...?

Since I have been watching (only about a month) the lowest I have seen them go and stay for long enough to get them is 8.5%. I sign up for deal alerts and there have been some 20% off but they are usually relatively low value and they go before I can click fast enough.

If you sign up for newsletters/notifications from the different gift card selling websites, sometimes they will have a coupon code for an additional discount on certain gift cards. I haven't seen Target on any of them recently, but it's worth watching for it.

It's always said that I believe. I've only gotten ebates once purchasing disney gift cards from target, but I will keep trying.

We can get fuel points on $100 visa gift cards at kroger. But I ony have a 20 gallon tank and don't want to deal with gas cans so I just buy target gift cards.

I am not

Was this option available for Room Only reservations?
I called twice to apply gift cards with a Room Only reservation. Both times I was routed to a CM after I said "make a payment" to the IVR. I hung up the first time because of the wait. The 2nd time, no wait, and I was able to give her 6 gift cards to apply.
Sorry, posted before I was finished.
To the mom4kids, did you receive an email confirmation of your payments made with Disney gc?
The CM told me she would send me an email confirmation showing my new total deposit and balance due. I received an email confirmation within 10 minutes. Maybe you need to request it from the CM if they do not offer.
I thought the entire process was very easy.

Ok as we all knew it would be my plan was a pain in the butt :headache: Buying the Visa GC throws a kink in the plans because A) not everywhere will let you buy a gift card with a credit card (you might go unnoticed if you are doing $200 increments but you are paying the 6.95$ activation fees every time) and B) prepaid gift cards won't work at all on Cardcash (everytime it "Fraud Alerts" you and stops your order). While they did work on Raise the discounts were 2% less. Not to mention what am I going to do with a small handful of gift cards with $1.97, $10.16, etc left on them?
I know I know, all things you bright peeps warned me about. But I *had* to try it. So grand total saved after much time spent clicking and making transactions--$481.55. That is adding up fuel points, credit card rewards, Disney vacation account, Redcard, and Raise/Cardcash discount. I didn't include any portal discounts because so far none of them are pending even after clicking through. I used Sunshine, Ebates, and Topcash. I might have to update my amounts once a month or so hits and I actually see what reward $ I get back.

There. Now I don't feel bad about Victoria and Alberts in September :teeth:

Wow 8.5% is great. I've never used that site before, but I definitely will in a few days if those prices are still available.

When I have the time, I honestly sit with raise on my browser and refresh every few minutes. I have alerts, but I always am behind when I get them.

Last night raise had quite a few target gcs at 8% and they sat on there for a few minutes. I've noticed the discounts are getting higher now, so fingers crossed that trend keeps going.

The highest I've seen raise (since fall last year), was 9%. It was after Christmas. That's ignoring the handful that comes in and goes right out. Some of the alerts I've seen are for 20%! But I've never been able to catch that.

I think we're seeing the post graduation sales now :)

ETA: OMG I think the 8.5% is all gone! I looked yesterday and there was a bunch.

Yep, I've had issues with this too...it has been around for awhile...never really noticed until I started using more gift cards...Gap, Disney, etc...

You can combine Target GCs using their app. I do it all of the time so that when I purchase a GC online, I can combine it on one that I already have so that the seller doesn't get a chance to spend it before I do. (Yes, I've had GCs cleaned out just moments after the purchase was verified - Raise always made it right but why deal with the hassle?)

Your savings sounds amazing! How much are all of your Disney GCs worth?

Looks like the $100 target disney gift card is on the website but says "only available in stores", wonder if this means they are going to offer it online soon?
