Have there been any issues using electronic Best Buy gift cards for Disney gift cards in store lately?

Last time I did it was about two weeks ago with no problem. I haven't seen anyone say they have had any issues with it lately.

How much are y'all saving using this Best Buy method? I need some examples.

We returned 2 weeks ago from a three night trip (one park day this time, we spent time visiting resorts and pool), not including lodging since we are DVC, our entire trip was $0 out of pocket. I earn Best Buy GCs and Paypal via Swagbucks and a few other rewards programs and flip those to Disney GCs. I did get Southwest credit cards and used those bonus points for our flight. I also earned enough GCs to cover my DVC maintenance fees. I actually came home with a little money left over to begin funding for the next trip.

I purchased a couple of the Best Buy go with the 150 + 15 bonus through eBay from ppdg. I'm trying to buy another one and it's telling me they can't process my PayPal and I need to call PayPal. I thought I remembered hearing about this before. Do I really need to call PayPal? What do I tell them? I logged into my PayPal account and everything looks right.

I had that issue buying the Best Buy gift cards. It got flagged, I said it was me and not fraudulent and then I was okay to buy more. Then I hit 4 transactions and Paypal wouldn't verify me any more. I called them up and they "fixed" it but it still wouldn't work. If you need more, I'd recommend going through someone else's Paypal. I bought $600 in total and that seemed to be the limit.

Hmmm...I was wanting to buy 8 of these, but now thinking maybe not. Its only going to save me an extra 5% anyway, since I can already get 5% at Target or Sam's. On 8 of these that's $60. I assumed they got rid of all this flagging after they made it so that we couldn't churn anymore. FWIW, my rule is to not even attempt to verify. In the past anytime Ebay/PP wants to verify me, I back out of the transaction with my browser and it goes through without the verify if I try again.

I was adding up our costs for our upcoming trip the other day and imagining how much I would have saved back then. Oh well, at least we have this one more trip on these APs that we bought last year thanks to the Target/Ebay churn. Three trips on them and they really saved us some money!

Well, this Best Buy deal -- $150 for a $150 BBY GC + $15 coupon, which you'd take in store to buy $165 in Disney GCs -- saves 9%. If you have the cashier scan your Shopkicks app when paying, you'll usually get another 0.8% worth in "kicks" that you can eventually redeem for Best Buy or Target GCs, which you'll turn into Disney GCs. Ebates now offers a 1% cash back in-store coupon for Best Buy, but I haven't tried to see if it applies to GCs.

This isn't the best deal, however, because like @StuckInKS posted, you can get a base savings of 5% on Disney GCs from Target using the REDcard, or buying Disney GCs already discounted ~5% from Sam's Club or BJs -- and depending on what credit card you have, get another 5% cash back if the rotating bonus category that quarter is for warehouse clubs. All without the worry of converting one store's GC for Disney GCs. ~10% savings is still nice, especially if you don't have time to wait for better deals.

I took advantage of this deal because I'm a bit depleted of Disney GCs, and I have a deposit that I need to make soon that I refuse to pay "full price" on.

^^ You can also add the Disney gift cards to your Disney Vacation Account for another 2%. (technically this is $20 for every 1k)

Here's what it breaks down to for me on the Best Buy deal.

$165 BB gift card for $150 on Ebay
I earned $1.50 worth of points on swagbucks for the Ebay purchase
Earned $1.50 for using my credit card.
Will earn the 0.8% Shopkicks at Best Buy
I will deposit the Disney gift cards into the DVA to go towards the spend $1000 get $20 bonus.

I jumped on it because we last minute decided to get DH an AP and I had just paid off our cruise out of my DVA. I ended up with the 165 plus the 2% from the DVA.

We made about $180 from the DVA last year. Also booking a cruise through a TA gets you shipboard credit, $200 for us. You can apply shipboard credit to a GC. We took the DVA gift card and shipboard credit and applied right back to our DVA for our next Disney vacation.

But, can you use Disney GCs at restaurants? If I'm on the DP and buy alcohol for example, can I use a GC to pay the bill? Thanks!!

If you can charge it to your room then yes. I charge everything to the room and pile a bunch of GCs on the bill

Weird but I've ordered Disney GC through BJs in the past but today my order was cancelled twice due to being "unable to verify payment information". I used my Discover card as before--not sure what the issue is. Might call or might save the hassle and go to Sam's.

When we did the Starbucks promo I got mine about a week later, but a family member who ordered at the exact same time didn't get theirs for a week and a half (we're out in CA).

I know you can use them at restaurants, and even put the tip on them, but I don't know how they work with the DP as I've never used that. I charge the restaurant to my room and then I stop by the front desk each evening to pay off the account with gift cards so they don't charge my CC. Anything you can charge to your room can for sure be paid with gift cards that way.
