Disney Gift Card Deals

I'm confused. Is it still possible to buy a Disney GC with a Target GC in store? I tried online and it's not possible, not even with $30 worth of other items.

Since we can still buy the Disney GC using a Red Card and get 5% off, I'm guessing it's a better deal than buying them from BJs, correct?

To buy Disney GC with Target GC, you have to do it in store. It won't allow you to do it online any more. Buying from Target with a red card vs BJs online with just a regular card is basically the same (the online BJ price for a $100 Disney GC is 94.99), but if you have a Discover card (or some other credit card offering deals/points), their bonus is in warehouse clubs so you can get an additional 5% cashback from it, so the potential savings through BJs is theoretically greater than target red card depending on what credit cards you have.

No. Buying $100 worth of Disney GCs at Target will cost you $95. Buying $100 worth of Disney GCs from BJs will cost you $94.99. Plus you can use ebates and get another 1% back. No BJ's membership required.

AFAIK, you can still buy Disney GCs with Target GCs in store. It's been a month since I last tried, but I haven't heard any reports of that changing. Self-checkout is your friend as some cashiers will not allow you to do it, even though the system still allows it.

The BJs deal is better than the Target deal since ordering online at BJ's gets you 5% off - $94.99 for a $100 Disney GC (and last I knew, free shipping), AND you can use another credit card for additional cash back - currently 5% with a Discover card.

This assumes one can't find Target gift cards online for >6%. I can frequently get Target gift cards at 8% off or more from gift card resale websites, and instantly load them into the Target app. Plus, that means for every $500 I spend on Disney gift cards using Target gift cards, I get another Target perk, which can be a $20 movie, $20 athletic apparel, or a number of other things. Pretty good deal. We usually get 3 or 4 free Target items for every trip we take to Disney. :)

Are you getting perks for Disney gift card purchases? I thought I tried and wasn't getting them any more.

I am, I was a little surprised myself, but getting free laundry detergent pods and some new lightweight athletic shorts before every trip has really been great. We've pretty much got every sub-$20 Disney movie through rewards at Target for the kids to watch on the way down.

I need to try this again. I have about $8,000 of Disney gift cards to buy in the next year--might as well get 16 rewards out of it.

FYI even though the movie perk said up to $20, I bought the blu ray Moana which was on sale for $22.99 and it was free???

Thank you all!

I've never heard of these perks before. How do you get them?

I think they are still only in select markets, but they are through the Cartwheel app. You can scan cartwheel at checkout or scan your receipt into the cartwheel app after your purchase, and you'll get points for the total purchase amount. After $500, you can select a perk.

I was only addressing the last part of the original post: "Since we can still buy the Disney GC using a Red Card and get 5% off, I'm guessing it's a better deal than buying them from BJs, correct?"

Not if you have a new Discover it card. Discover is doubling the rewards for the first 12 billing cycles, and the current and next quarter are 5% for wholesale clubs. I have been using my Red card, but just signed up for the Discover it card for the additional rewards.

So can you transfer the gift card balances to one giftcard and use it at the resort for incidentals (meals, etc) charged through your magic band?

Yes, you can go to disneygiftcard.com and combine up to $1000 on one gift card.
Once we are there I go to the front desk eevery couple of days and pay off our room charges with the gift card.

Oh that is great! Thank you! We get prepaid debit cards as rewards (which I can't combine) from my husband's business credit card so I plan to buy gift cards from BJ's and combine them for ad much of our costs as possible.
