Disney Gift Card Deals

Your own logic makes no sense, if you buy a gift card through a 3rd part reseller you would have double the risk because you could lose the gift card or you could have it drained. But remember, I wasn't the one who even made the original comment, it was someone else who stated that they felt 3rd party gift cards were high risk. I was just agreeing with them. Everyone can have their own opinion on whether 3rd party gift cards are considered high risk, both myself and AmyAnne (the original poster) feel it is.

I never said there was no risk in fact if you read through the messages I agree that it is important to remind people about these risk. Nor did I say that there is no risk with buying a GC from a reseller. I just pointed out that there are risk involved in this process regardless what path you take. Hard to loose and electronic GC which is mostly what resellers sell specially with target.

Just to add I didn't even quoted your post I was just agreeing with someone else.

Oops didn't mean to spark a huge debate. Personally, I think anything with gift cards is somewhat risky - there have been reports of Target gift cards being hacked. Buying from a re-seller just adds another element of risk. I do purchase gift cards but try not to hang on to them very long, and at the moment the risk of re-sellers has me scared away from them.

Not sure if this is old info but a data point, as you all say...

I finally tried to purchase Disney GC's at Target at the self checkout and had zero issues. The signs at my self check out say I can't buy alcohol at them, but say nothing about gift cards.

@bbsearchlight , what cc are you using at grocery stores, if you don't mind my asking? I max out the $6K on my Blue Cash Preferred annually. Do you know of a cash back card that has a higher cash back percentage?

I use the free version of the Amex Blue. But I don't come near the $6000 annually to make it worth it for me to get the preferred. Again, I was merely responding to the person who asked if it was worth it to get the preferred to get Disney gift cards at grocery stores. I merely pointed out that just for gift cards itself the preferred isn't worth it.

NOT in Oregon :(

An FYI for Sam's Club . . . I went and bought Disney Gift Cards on Friday after debating about buying them online and having them shipped. The sign in the store had the $150 packs priced at $143.98 but they rang up as $144.98. I asked the cashier to price adjust and then saw her go and get the new signs for $144.98. As of this morning, the online price is still at $142.98. What's really confusing is that in my cart, just above the price, it says free shipping . . . but it says Est. Shipping is $0.99 down in the total. Either way, it's still less than buying it in store. I'll place an online order in a couple of weeks to test out the online price.

I'm not churning like most of you did, but I thought I'd share my story. My daughter is in marching band and every 4 years they do a trip to Disney. The largest fundraiser for the band trip is through SCRIP. When I have enough in my savings account, I order Wal-Mart gift cards through SCRIP which is currently at a 2.5% rebate. This 2.5% goes directly into her personal account. I use those Wal-Mart gift cards to then buy the discounted Disney gift cards from Sam's Club. It's not much, but it sure adds up.

FYI, I bought a packet of gift cards from Sam's this morning and was very pleased with their new packaging: cardboard instead of that sharp plastic container and larger, easier-to-read numbers on the back of the gift cards.

I'm in Cincinnati and there was a sign up for restaurants, gaming, streaming, and I think movie theaters for 4X fuel. Nothing about needing a digital coupon. I purchased and got the 4X....never had to clip a digital coupon it was automatic.

We have that in central VA too. This seems to be targeted and only on visa / mc fixed amount.
