Interesting! We've had several reports in the past about Walgreens not accepting GCs for GCs. Perhaps it's a bit more YMMV than we knew.

My experience has been the computer accepts giftcard for giftcard but I tried buying a discount Walgreens giftcard and ended up with a walgreens merchandise credit giftcard which the computer did not take to buy a giftcard (if that makes sence).

Yes the system allows. Many people on this board have been denied. I just used my last $100 Sears card yesterday to purchase 2 $50 Disney cards. For me, I had the most success with a physical card. I swipe it after the cashier tells me the total. In my store, they didn't question it, they just followed what the screen said to do (enter the pin#).

I will also say that I was successful and denied at my local Kmart. I was also denied when the cashier saw my egiftcard printout prior to ringing me out. Another time, I asked a clerk of it was permissible at Sears and told know.

Overall, I've had 3 successful purchases versus one deny at Kmart, and 4 successful vs 2 denied at my local Sears.

Sadly, I had to use my eBay gc's for a darned chainsaw (hubbie's old one broke). Not very exciting. Would much rather spend on gift cards for vacation!!

FYI, it appears eBay GCs are no longer locked to a Paypal acct.

Last week I used $400 of a $500 Ebay GC with my husband's paypal acct, today I used the remaining $100 with my paypal acct.

Yay, only purchased $200 of Best Buy, no verification, no issues, easy peasy.

Has anyone used coinstar to get egiftcards? Which egiftcard would be the best to get? BB? GS? Sears? I would just go ahead and get Southwest, but I've already paid for our flight in full. Do any of these egiftcards work to get Disney GCs or Walmart/Sam's to get the discounted Disney GCs?

I just had 2 exhausting purchases. Thank goodness I checked this thread or I might have missed the promotion.

The first one said pickup only, and I didn't notice it until after I hit the confirm button. I thought I would DIE!!!!! Turns out I just needed to send the seller my email address. This is not something ebay allows btw, but there is always a workaround.
The second one was 2 giftcards from PPDG. I was NOT using a gift card to pay, and I still had to go through 2 heart-stopping verification rounds.
The stupid thing is that I could have purchased those gift cards on GCM, if I was willing to deal with a physical card instead of an ecard, and by paying postage. Spending $2.99 would have been much less painful!

I got a little excited, because ebates said they are paying 15% on ebay today - but it's only for collectibles. I guess my gift card collection doesn't count.

An update from my experience regarding cashing out in Disney gc's via personal sellers: It went great!

I was super nervous that I was going to be out a huge chunk of money but everything went great. I used two different sellers, one I bought a $500 giftcard from and they emailed me right away asking if I wanted to wait for the giftcard in the mail or if I wanted the giftcard number. It's probably frowned upon to exchange via email but I opted to do that I loaded the full balance onto one of my Disney cards right away. The other $2300 I bought from one seller. He had over 4k positive reviews. I bought the initial $500 and then emailed him asking how much more I could do as he posted in his listing that he had others available. He was willing to break up the orders to less than $1000 to maximize ebay bucks which was nice.

I got the cards in the mail on Thursday. I was a little worried because they all had the grey stuff scratched off already but I wonder if he double checked the balances before sending them? Not sure. Either way I had a good experience and would use him again in the future. He was really quick to respond back as well. I don't know if I can post actual user names on here? His name starts with an O and he has 4593 positive ratings and nothing negative in the last 12 months. PM if you want the name.

I think I found the seller you used. The auction I found showed a card selling for $19 more than actual value. Did you have to pay that for each card, or did he reduce the price since you bought in bulk?

When I started churning and wasn't getting the bonuses, I started buying things on ebay. I picked things that I would have bought anyway, and found extra things that weren't expensive that I could use also. I think I did about 5 sales, and then I got the next bonus. It also helps to buy something when the bonus comes up.

I managed to get two purchases thru ebay today. One was discounted (physical) giftcards that I know we'll use and the second was Best Buy. It is getting harder for me to check out thru PPDG, so I don't know how many more "churns I have left". I already placed an order on BestBuy.com for in store pick up. I could only buy $150 worth of ebay cards online for in store pick up. Has everyone else experienced this limit? I hope to go in store tonight to pick up and maybe buy more ebay gc in person with BB gcs. Then I hope to get another churn out of them tonight or tomorrow. (I have never done a double churn before. ) I'll buy physical gcs that can be mailed (Gamestop, I guess) since I don't expect any ebuck promos for a month or so. Maybe I'll buy a Walgreens card to give that a whirl, too.



I wanted to give an update on some my recent giftcard experiences.

Random thought:
I was focusing on Disney GC as the end result of my churning. A while ago someone mentioned that ebay carries Hotel.com GC. That got me thinking. Today I investigated and Hotels.com had an 8% off promo code which did work on Disney hotels. Not sure if they offer promo codes regularly but if so this is a even better way to go. Assuming you are planning on doing a room-only reservation. Also you can go thru eBates (or your preferred portal) for a possible 3% cash back. (It excludes purchases made with giftcards but we all know that ebates exclusions don't always apply.)
This also got me thinking about other vacations my family is hoping to take. I spent a good amount of time searching hotels.com, thinking about non-Disney trips my churning funds can go to. (Universal, Great Wolf Lodge, ect)

The hotel I stayed at (Great Wolf Lodge) cost the same on their website and all the online travel sites I checked.
The total cost for our room with tax and fees was $588.93. I saved 52.03 with a 10% coupon code. I paid with hotel.com gift cards I bought on ebay and made $40 ebucks. I used ebates when I bought the giftcards and made $15. I also used ebates when I booked thru hotels.com (6% !) and I just got credited $28.13 for that (even though I paid with gift cards).
So totaling all my credits and rebates I look at it as 23% off.
I could have saved even more if I bought the discounted hotels.com giftcards but I was in a rush and didn't want to wait for physical cards to be mailed. I had no problem whatsoever with my reservation. Of course, I did not need to cancel or make any changes to the reservation so I'm not sure how troublesome that could have been.

As long as hotels.com continues to have discount codes that apply to Disney and their rates reflect any Disney promotions, I think this will be the way I book my next trip.


One more update:

Yesterday I did a few 'churns'. Went to Kmart to convert my Sears to eBay. It was a fiasco. The cashier struggled and at the end my eBay cards did not activate and the funds were gone from my Sears GC. The manager was helping by the end and she pulled me over to customer service. Could not get the eBay GC to activate, said it was a 'glitch in the system'. They eventually gave me Kmart GC.
I may try another Kmart this weekend while we are traveling. If not they said I could use the Kmart cards at Sears for the washer and drier I need. Ugg.

I was in PA visiting my parents this weekend (on our way to GWL) so I had DH swing by a Kmart to try to convert my giftcards to ebay that had failed previously (in NJ). (I asked DH to do it since my visit with my parents was short and I didn't want to waste time away from them.) He had no problem what so ever converting my $300 in Kmart giftcards to ebay. So I think I'll be buying the discounted Sears cards again. I visit my parents often and we pass right by Kmart, with two others not too far away. And I have no problem being stuck with Sears cards as we have appliance purchases in out near future.

I'm about to leave for my weekly plasma donation and BB is right next door. I have a $50 BB GC and I was thinking about converting it to eBay. I stopped at Walgreen's earlier today to pick up a few items and I took a look at their gift card selection. Unlike CVS, there is NO signage indicating that gift cards can only be purchased with cash or credit card. The only disclaimers listed say that they do not accept returns or exchanges on gift cards. So now I'm wondering...if I turn my BB into eBay, should I try a BB card through PPDG (to get it "instantly"), turn it back into eBay tomorrow and then use it for a $50 Walgreen's card from SVM? Then I could try to use the card at Walgreen's for a Disney or eBay card. If I can't get an eBay or Disney card from Walgreen's, we would use the card eventually.

Oh, and I removed our primary checking account from my PP account this morning. I still have a checking account linked, but it is the one from our credit union which is mainly used as a "funnel" to get money in and out of our other online bank accounts. I certainly do not want to get banned from PayPal, but I just don't see how $100-$200 a week would be a such a huge deal. I feel like that is a low enough amount that it shouldn't raise any flags. Maybe I will just risk it and continue with the BB churning, but only buying during an eBucks promo. DH and I donate plasma twice a week (sometimes on separate days) so either one of us could buy the eBay cards. If we're only doing it when there is a promo (which hasn't been too often lately), I just don't see how this would raise a lot of eyebrows. I am aware of all the risks so I am really hesistant to try...but then again, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

First, my experience with PPDG this morning makes me cringe at the thought of getting anything from them, but if you haven't done a lot of business with them, they may behave for you.

But the main reason I'm replying is I just tried to buy a Walgreens card from SVM with an ebay card and it wouldn't let me. I got this response: "We can't apply this code to your order." I tried 2 different cards, and then I verified that they still have money on them on the ebay balance page. I don't know if the problem is with PP, Ebay or SVM
