I'm looking for any information on the new exit (exit #?, street names, etc...) from the turnpike to WDW. Has anybody drove it yet? If so, do you recommend it?

We are staying at POP, so we will end up right back near I-4, but I'd like to check it out anyway, and 4 is usually stressful anyway (especially after I've been driving for 15 straight hours)

It's still not on google earth (you can see construction of it in some places) or many map sites, but I am correct that it is open, right?

Maybe its just me, but it seems difficult to find information about the new "back way" in to WDW from the turnpike?

Thanks in advance.

Take the turnpike to the 429 southbound. Get off where the sign says WDW (about 12 miles) Follow the signs to WDW, the speed limit is 45 and then drops to 35 and the police are out in full force with radar, I see someone pulled over almost everythime I drive through there.

At the traffic light by CSR, take a right and then go about 1/2 mile. As soon as you go under the overpass make a right onto the cloverleaf and get onto Osceola Parkway headed east. Go about a mile and make a left turn--following the signs for Pop, go about 1/4 mile and it will be on the right.

Sounds like you drive it a lot, and so you would recommend it over I-4? ... good enough for me! Thanks!

Most definitely!

I think I-4 was put on this earth by Satan himself to torment mere mortals.

I work at the intersection of the turnpike and the 429, and use the 429 anytime I'm going to WDW after work.

There is a good article about TOLL 429 in Wikipedia, the on-line encyclopedia. (Partly authored by yours truely!) The link is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_State_Road_429

Section C of the expressway runs between the Turnpike and I-4 west of Disney. The exit list at the bottom of the article shows you that once on the 429 you'd get off at Exit #8 for Disney World. Coming south off I-75 you'd have a $2.50 toll on Florida's Turnpike plus another $1.00 on the 429.

As for saving 45 minutes to an hour versus staying on the Turnpike and then heading to Disney via I-4........NOT. Sure, if there was a complete traffic jam on I-4 it could happen but more likely you're going to save 30 minutes tops. But the 429 is a beautiful road with relatively little traffic.
