Okay so I promise I looked through all the threads (and the UF website) but I had a few more questions and would love some advice from the experienced.

I am going for 1 day in the middle of a June Disney trip.

My questions:

1. Purses - So would you recommend getting a locker for the whole day or just using the lockers per ride? We are NOT going to be riding major coasters, but will be riding HP Adventure Thingy and maybe others that are no go with purses?

2. My sister is a NO GO for falling rides with drops (she says she is motion sick but I know that is code for BIG WUSS! ;) ) Can she ride Spider Man? What about Shrek, Despicable Me, or Simpsons? I am only asking b/c you cannot watch these rides on YouTube from my searches. These rides confuse and amaze me.

3. How much can you theoretically do in in about 10 hours in the park (9am - ~7pm). Would you suggest IOA only (a must do for us) or also do some of USF? Possible?

4. Can you walk to City Walk from the parks? I feel so embarrassed asking this, because I know how people think you can walk between parks at Disney World but I just have NEVER stepped foot at USF but would like to have dinner at City Walk. How does one get there with no car?

That's all for now. THANK YOU in advance!

I think the free lockers work great. If you cant take bags with you, they will have them.

only the roller coasters and dr doom have drops.
Shrek is in a theatre, DM is a mild simulator, Spiderman is awesome and unlike anything else (no drop or falling)

you can do a lot in 10 hrs. and dont underestimate U.S. .... we actually like it better.

You have to walk through city walk to get to the parks.

1) Honestly I recommend SKIPPING PURSES or bags of any kind. I wear a small waist pack or cargo shorts to avoid dealing with lockers .
2)Spiderman should be ok, it is a ride/film/motion simulator , Same with Simpsons. Both Shrek and Despicable me are 3d movies with some effects and movement
3) you can do alot .We prefer the Studios over IOA to be honest
4) You can walk betwenn IOA and the studios and Citywalk is what connects them all..It is not like Disney. You can walk to and from the Universal resorts, citywalk and the 2 parks pretty easily

No purses? I'm slightly breaking out in hives at the thought. I'm a pack mule, plus the idea of filled cargo shorts makes me feel insecure about my already too wide thighs! Not a cute look. But sound advice and I might have to cave and M.I.L.K. it up (money, ID, lipstick, keys)!

I agree and would love to ride EVERYTHING at Studios, but I have these weird HP freaks in my family so I'll be Griffindoring it up, when I could honestly take it or leave it!

I would not bring any bags as others suggested. It might slow you down especially if you have never been there. Don't worry about what you look like you will never see anybody again that you see. Go have fun.

I agree on the no bag idea. Using the free lockers sounds easy, but the lines can get backed up to access the terminal to open them. Just pack light and go.
You can definitely walk from both parks to City Walk, it is just across a small bridge. That is one reason my family loves US/IOA, no buses!

x2 for skipping purses! :thumbsup2

skip the purse.
stuff everything in your bra like i do.

if the regular lines are long, go to the single rider lines if they are open.

half the time you can't carry on a conversation with the person next to you on a ride.

I was the same..Until I waited on a line for a locker..After that I went with NO BAG ..

I think my family can get by with no bag/purse. My question is, what do you do about cameras? I am a picture freak :) and I have to have my camera!

We just got back from a 5 day trip and I carried my small crossbody purse everyday with no issues. The two trips we took before this one I carried a purse too.

On rides without lockers I just kept my purse on and it would "sit" next to me. On Cat in the Hat and I think Hippogriff there is a mesh pouch you can put your purse in.

On rides with lockers we would just go to the last locker kiosk , like 11, or the one with the most available lockers left. (It tells you on the screen before you start "renting" your free locker how many lockers are left.) This saved us so much hassle! We would walk out of a ride and everyone would immediately go to locker kiosks 1, 2 & 3 to get their stuff. Kiosk 8? No one but us. :rotfl2:

I loved having my purse. I was able to keep my phone, camera, money, pass, room key, express pass, photo connect pass, hand sanitizer, 3 snacks and a travel sized sunscreen all comfortably. I always feel like I have lost something if I don't have my purse. I'm a small A, so I definitely can't go the bra route. I have seen some sports bras that have pockets and storage now though!

Just my opinion, I hope it helps! :goodvibes

If the camera will fit in your pocket or fanny pack, you can take it on the rides that do not allow carry on items. Otherwise, you'd have to put it in a locker or leave it with a non-rider. Remember...there are only a handful of attractions that do not allow carry on items. The other rides are fine if you want to bring it with you.

If you really need to store items, I agree with the fanny pack.
They're a huge fashion faux-pas, and I've been teased about it in the past, but when it came time to board any sort of ride, be it at Disney, US, or even up here at LaRonde, I was the one laughing at the rest. Especially since at LaRonde they don't have lockers, but rather cubby holes. Fannypack is a lot safer, doesn't hurt your back or shoulders, and is usually allowed on all the rides (unless there's a stickler working the ride).

This way you have room for your wallet, a camera, and maybe a snack.

As for the parks, if you want to do everything, you're going to need more than one day. If you only want to do select rides, you could possible do both.

Get cargo shorts with pockets that button or zip. Those are great for phones and cameras. We had to use a locker for our butterbeer mug of all things and those lockers never agree with me for some reason. Others just breeze right through there though.

None of the rides you mentioned have a drop but Spiderman does have a fake one. If the sight of a drop bothers her she can just close her eyes.

Gosh, I haven't had the issues with the lockers that others have, I guess. I wear one of those drawstring bags on my back at the parks, and throw it in the free lockers near the rides that require them. I've never had an issue!! *shrug*

I went to IoA/USF in March with 5 friends (all in our 20s) and four of us wore fanny packs. The other two made fun of us for bringing them along before we even got to the parks! Little did they know, bringing a draw string bag & cross body purse would cost them a HALF HOUR wait to put them in the lockers before HPFJ. They don't make you take the fanny's off for any of the rides! It relieves so much hassle. Did we get funny looks? YES! My boyfriend's was American flag themed, mine was cheetah print, best friend's was bright blue and her boyfriend's was checker print. We loved standing out for a good reason, totally worth it!

PLUS when they get heavy it doesn't cause any unwanted shoulder/back pain! :)

You are fortunate and have never had the pleasure of getting to a locker area behind 75 South American tourists....All it took was that one incident and I was sold on going bag free...LOL
