I just found this in my mom's drawer. I wonder how old it is. I didn't realize that Disney used to be free to enter, but used tix for rides.

I don't think it was ever free to get in. You would generally buy a ticket book that included entrance to the park plus a certain number of tickets. There were 5 types of tickets, labeled from A-E, depending on the popularity of the ride. (That's where the phrase "E-ticket ride" originated.) I believe you could just purchase admission to the park as well.

Ok, I'm going to be dating myself by saying this, but the first time I went you bought tickets for the rides. I don't know if it was free to get in (probably not), but it was nice for my Mom because she was pregnant and couldn't ride anything anyway.

If the book is complete you can exchange it at a ticket window for a one-day, one-park, pass. If it is not complete a person in a Guest Relations window can determine a value which can be used toward the purchase of a pass.

Sweet! :)

SWEET! Those are really nice collectibles, and especially with the family connection to go with it! :thumbsup2

Really?

I have a few in my scrapbook!

Anyway to determine the value without taking it to Disney? I might even have an E ticket in there.

I live in Southern California. I do remember you could buy a ticket book to ride the rides OR if you had tickets left from a previous visit you could pay a small fee to get into the park. I had cousins who lived in Anaheim and would visit often. :woohoo:

I have two books with A-E tickets. I wouldn't trade them in! LOL...I also have some of the ones pictured above...

That's really great that Disney would transform them into current $$, but I think the sentimental connection is more important to me. Thank you for the info, though.

On the inside back cover is a list of attractions (including the much-missed Skyway) and the starred ones - Carousel of Progress, Circle Vision 360, etc.. say you don't need a coupon to enter for these attractions. That's why I assumed the entry thing..

I have the parking ticket from my very first (and only childhood trip) in 1978. We parked in the Minnie lot and dad paid a whole $0.50!
