disney food yuck!

I love WDW food! But i dont tend to eat burgers or hot dogs much!
There are plenty of good CS places, you just need to find them!

In MK i love columbia harbour house, and in Epcot we love going to the sunshine seasons food fair (or whatever its called now) as thereis a variety and something away from the normal burgers!

We' re another bunch that dont ever rent a car when we are out there. Have done before but both us of spend so much time travelling for work and meetings to us its great to not have a car! That being said we dont tie ourselves into Disney, we quite often pop down to crossroads (love the red lobster and pebbles) or old town kissimmee on a fri or sat night for the car shows etc. Taxis are not that expensive out there, especially between 6 adults!

This year we are staying onsite and will have dinner onsite a few times but will probably venture out to the i-drive most nights as the choices there are great... Don Pablos, Dan Marinos, Race Rock and loads loads more
Race Rock has closed and so has Dan Marinos at Pointe Orlando (although a new one has just opened at Veranda Park). There are some fantastic new options at the Pointe, though - we loved both Tommy Bahama's Tropical Cafe and Capital Grille. Maggiano's and The Oceanaire also look good.

I can't help but think that you must miss out on so much by not driving over there. The roads are far better and easier to read than our roads, and everything is so well signposted (not like UK).

Each to their own though........ but if you didn't restrict yourself you would find some amazing restaurants outwith Disney World. For instance there is Don Pablos Mexican (where Tiger Woods frequents), and many other top restaurants along the long stretch of International Drive. Even off the "Drive" there are so many to choose from, and they are not overpriced like Disney.

Also agree that you should get out of Disney and explore - there is so much to see and do. Florida isn't just Disney !!

On a lighter note, wayneg - we do the same.... cheese with just about everything !!

Agreed Sue. Being stuck in Disney all the time means you miss so much.

BTW - wheres Don Pablos? Do they have a website?

Oh No Race Rock closed !!!

Only went there once for a quick meal on the way back to the airport and was planning to visit there this time.

Last year the Pointe was looking like it was all closing down !!!

They are re-developing Pointe, even though I liked it when it first opened it never really 'took off' as such and unfortunatley many of the stores there closed down.

Having to pay for car parking does put some people off as the malls are all free of course.
It isn't closing down though and is worth a visit still.

We usually eat breakfast off site and then we get CS for a late lunch and then eat again off site in the evening - this way we can still have Disney food for one meal and have a good meal elsewhere to get a good variety. DH and I like the buffet style of Sizzler etc.

We also love the Sizzler Buffets - lots of choice and plenty to eat !
And reasonably priced too !!

Also a friend recommended Golden Corral, so will try it this time round.

I got the tip about Golden Corral off these boards and went for the first time last trip. Can't believe we've never bothered with it in the previous six trips and wouldn't miss it now. Which just goes to show there's always somewhere new to try.

[/Wayneg]regarding Raglan Road at PI, friends of ours that are Disney CM's went 2 weeks ago and said they will never return, it was overpriced and poor quality. Like I say everyone like different things.

We have been to Raglan Road now on a few occasions to WDW and we have never had a bad meal there, certainly never been of poor quality and we've certainly not found it over priced with the service that you're given. The staff we're very friendly and helpful, bringing us things to try and there was even a magician going around entertaining the kids. Our DD is a particulary fussy eater and she loves going there. The wine was pricey but then you get that at most table service restaurants.

But I definitely agree with most that if you have a look at the menus before hand you can certainly find a variety, we eat in and out of Disney and have not got bored yet!!

Hope you enjoy it more next time!

It was not us that had been it was friends telling us about it. I looked at menu online as saw the prices, out of my price bracket for a meal i'm afraid.
Eat fantastic meals away from Disney/DTD for about half their prices but I know a lot like it a Raglan Rd. We love places like Orlando Ale House or the new Texas Roadhouse, Their food is soooo cheap for what you get.

It's still looking a bit like a building site, but they're getting there. Clearly it's now much more an enterntainment/night-time venue, and I reckon it'll be superb when it's finished. Complementary valet parking is provided if you eat at the upmarket eateries (Capital Grille, Tommy Bahama's Tropical Café, The Oceanaire Seafood Room and Maggiano’s Little Italy).

am i alone. am i the only person that thought the food at disney is yuck.
we stayed at the cbr and only ate in the parks.
what is it with mashed potatoe and macaroni cheese everywhere yuck
we are going back next year and staying at the por and are planning to book crt, 1900 park fare, chef mickey and hollywood and vine for the kids.
does anyone have any recommendations? it has to be within disney as we arent driving while there.
thanks kellie:)

ON our 1st visit to WDW many years ago, we hated the food, but i hadnt found this site & allears then & did no planning. We just ate counter service meals! VERY repetative!
2nd trip - i did my homework & we had some fantastic meals, infact the eating out was the highlight of our holiday :goodvibes
From then on i plan, plan & make ADR's,
It is a little more expensive to eat in other places than counter service, but well worth it for the lovely food & some amazing places to eat in :)
recomendations:
Boma (AKL hotel)
sci fi diner (MGM's)
50's prime time cafe (MGM's)
CP (MK)
anywhere around the world showcase (Epcot)
whispering canyon cafe (WL)
California Grill (Contempory)

As a vegetarian I find the food pretty bad, the choices are very limited and by the end of the holiday I am so bored with the food.

We had totally the different experience in April. DH is a vegan and found the resort restaurants and most of the park restaurants very accommodating.

For counter service check out Tusker house at AK , the sunshine seasons food court in the Land at Epcot, Artiste pallette at DSSR and the pepper market at Coronado Springs.

Mac'n'cheese is pretty much EVERYWHERE in the US, it's a staple that both restaurants and parents feel confident that fussy kids will actually eat
