Disney food prices could be worse!

Disney dining prices aren't that far off from what I pat at restaurants in my hometown.

Exactly our thoughts. We feel value is often better in WDW actually, as the atmosphere is unbeatable!

(unless we want bagels. Then its home or nothing) :rotfl2:

We are going to the Atlantis this fall. I'm afraid to eat. We will be coming home very hungry :rotfl2:

Atlantis' prices seemed comparable to Disney hotels last year. Nassau in general seemed ridiculously high. We as a family of our with two teenaged girls that don't eat a whole lot, ate in a little hole in the wall for lunch. I had a grilled fish sandwich with fries and a soda, one dd had grilled chicken sandwich with fries and soda, other had fish niggets with fries and soda, DH had conch fritters and a Corona. No refills, never saw the server again until she came and verbally told us the total (no check). $75!

lisa, loved your post!! We LOVE LOVE your city!! Went there for the first time (visiting my son who is getting his master's) and fell in love with London. Yes it is expensive. I so wanted to go to Disneyland Paris, but couldn't make it work. We did take the Eurostar to Paris and spent the day. Another great city. You are so right. After spending 9 days in London we came home and said "Boy, prices here aren't so bad"!!

Enjoy The Magic!!

We are just really lucky that food is so cheap in the US. I live in Iowa, and since this is a main farming location, our food is even cheaper here than in the rest of the country (particularly for meat). I travel pretty frequently and I also dine out pretty frequently, and Disney (although most meals are pretty expensive) does not seem overly excessive to me. I think most of us are just not used to higher food prices on an international scale, and we are not used to eating out 3 meals a day for however long your vacation is.

That being said, there are still some great bargains on food at WDW if you know where to look. And with the advent of forzen yogurt shops and trendy coffee, spending a few bucks on a snack is right on par.

On a side note, I once had an omelet and fries at a brasserie in Paris and it was about $36. THAT is expensive, my friends.

The way I look at it is we are on vacation. I never thought Disney was priced incredibly high. They are higher than what is considered normal for me. But when going on vacation no matter where to I guess I just expect to spend more than usual. Especially since we normally don't travel too often.

these are not fair comparisons. you are paying a lot of money on disney property already (hotel, park admissions, souvenirs, etc.) so the food prices can't be compared to, say, Paris breakfast in Vegas (which is still $16 and a FAR superior dining experience to anything Disney has to offer for breakfast).

Seagrapes at Atlantis is absurdly overpriced, but the food is spectacular and they offer meal plans as well, and if you gamble the price is a lot less (same as Vegas).

So to say Disney is a "great deal" compared to these is not accurate. Having said that, I am also going to cut Disney a lot of slack b/c -- again to use the argument above in their favor -- they are providing a heck of a lot more than "just breakfast food" when you eat at a park or resort.

Don't care what you say, I think $200 for a dinner buffet for 2 adults and two children (considered Disney adults) is steep.

Is Seagrapes the buffet? It's been a while since we were there. If so, I agree that it was expensive but fantastic!! And I am NOT a buffet girl.
