Those Yak and Yeti pics look so good! I'm glad we have an ADR there for our trip!

I thought the Yak and Yeti was pretty good. My main concerns are: 1) They do not accept the DDE, 2) They have a counter service window connected to the restaurant that sells the same exact food at half the price.

I thought about going here for our CS meal on our AK day...

OMG MickeyNicki,

Thank you for those pics from Grand Floridian!! I read through the menu and thought "I would get that pasta dish!!" and then, there was the pic. Was it as fantastic as it sounds? (but that steak looks amazing too) My next thought was "how could you ever choose a dessert?" and then there was that beautiful dessert sampler, WOW!!!

Please don't take this the wrong way but, are you enjoying the parks at all? I mean, I love WDW food but I can't believe you are uploading these pics while on vacation!! Us sad folks at home appreciate it though!!

It was amazing!

Since DH has been working like a dog and the weather was horrible this was a resort type WDW vacation which is fine with us as we go all the time. We did spend a few hours at MK on Friday and a few hours at Epcot on Saturday but once the rain started we just ran back to the Poly...it was still a fantastic time!

Morning MickeyNicki!!!!!!!
First off I have to say, again, I LOVE A PERSON WHO SHARES!:woohoo:
You are soooooo sweet to take the time to post the last few days!
Sorry you are having "weather" but so glad that you get a "do-over"
in a month!

You convinced me to return to the Grand Floridian Cafe......
My last time was in 1988 when I was there with my boys.
They were 5 and 9 at the time.
I was video-taping them with Chip and Dale at the GF character breakfast.
A man came up to me and said..."stop taping my wife"
I said....."which one is she,,,,Chip or Dale?"
He Huffed away
I followed him with my camera and who was sitting at his
table but Meryl Streep....yep.
I saw him tell her the story,,she looked at me,,,,and we just
smiled!

Thanks to you I will return to the GFC and relive wonderful memories
from when the boys were little.

You are a true sweetheart to take the time to report on your trip.
You also do a darn good job....Thank You:flower3:

One Question.
we also have ADR's for Crystal Palace Lunch......2 adults,,,,will we be
swarmed by kids and characters??? and was the food good enough?
Thanks Dear:)

You are welcome and your story was so funny! CP was good, the characters hugged and shaked hands but moved on pretty quickly. Yes we were completely overrun by the kids but we didnt mind too much we will bring our 2 nieces there in January. No the food was not worth it for DH and I to go back again (breakfast is worth it tho) but because our older niece is a die hard Pooh fan we will be there again for dinner in January.

I hope you enjoy it!

Yes, thanks so much MickeyNicki for posting all the wonderful menu and food pictures! I look forward to your pictures everyday! :worship:

Thanks! We have a 9 day trip coming up in Oct so stay tuned!

MickeyNicki:

Thank you so much for taking the time during your vacation to post those fabulous pictures!!! That was very generous of you :flower3:

Agreed, but that should have been LEXINGTON NC BBQ!!!:cool1: :cool1:

I love our local BBQ. Its AMAZING (IF you eat it like some of the locals do...) If you just stop in and get a chopped sandwich its still good... but if you order a tray from Lexington BBQ#1, and order it "course BROWN and extra lean".... Its sinfully good. Its big thick golf ball sized pieces of perfectly smoky BBQ with part of that thick chewy skin attached (the best part) and then you dip it in that famous vinegar based red sauce... drool drool. Before every trip to WDW we always hit Lex BBQ for a meal. Its the ONLY place locally we eat. If its not there, and not in WDW, we just don't do it.

OMG, you are so RIGHT!! I am from High Point so we ate BBQ alot while I was growing up and no one makes better BBQ than Lexington. I so miss it! The yummy hush puppies and good fries were always delicious. Now I need to make a trip home. You have me craving it and Lord knows that no one around here can make it like that. :sad2:

MickeyNicki - thank you for taking the time to provide the real time reviews!!

I am intrigued by Grand Floridian Cafe and hadn't given it much thought before. For some reason, I thought it was quick serve type food and mentally ruled it out. Seeing your pictures and reading the reviews are causing me to think I could squeeze in a meal here on our last night at MK. Only problem is, I don't want to devote a huge amount of time to this meal. We will have been at AK for the day and it will be our only chance for Spectro & Wishes over this trip so its a must do.

My question is whether the meal at GFC was one of the slow, relaxed leisurely dining type places? Or do you get 'in and out' while still having a good meal??

Thanks!!

At the GFC you can make it as quick or slow as you want. The couple next to us was seated after us and made it out before us...we were there for over an hour but it was pouring rain and we had no where to go so we told our server to take his time and not worry about us too much! We were having a blast just talking to each other and relaxing with our blue glowtinis!

I hope you love it!

I have been a long time lurker on the Disboards especially all things dealing with food and I thought it was time I post some of my pics. I'm DisneyDynamo's sister so there will be lots of pictures coming in November but in the meantime I live in Orlando, spend a TON of time in the parks so I will share as much as possible.

These pictures are from lunch today at Tusker House.

My first plate! The corn bread at the top of the plate is sweet and delicious. Everything on this plate was good I finished everything

As someone who swore they didn't like curry I helped my self to two servings of the curry chicken! Also note another helping of Vegetable Samosas!

My hubby's first plate - I didn't get a picture of his second plate because I was busy eating. He really loved the pork the other couple at the table loved it as well

My dessert plate - the diamond shaped cake in the middle is a spiced carrot cake and it was AMAZING!

This is the third time I've been to Tusker House for lunch and it never disappoints!!! So good!!

I was going to just do a PM, but this is *kinda* on topic. (not really... but worth reading)
We do a trip to Lexington BBQ before most trips. Its kinda tradition. The cool thing about that restaurant (locally called Honeymonks) is that the manager comes by everyone's table a lot. On 2 different occasions we mentioned that we always come here before we go to Disney, and on 2 different occasions he has gave our entire family of 4 FREE Lex BBQ T-SHIRTS!!! We have 8 shirts we got for free. We always get a couple remarks while in the park about how good it is.

So thats a good idea for ALL restaurants, and all DISers! Just mention to your local "famous restaurant", whatever it is, and maybe you too will get free shirts! Last time we said "Hey, remember us? You gave us free shirts! We took them to Disney World, and people were coming up to us to tell us that they LOVE your BBQ! We're going back next week, and we're taking them again. He said "How do they look? Are they still new? I said "they are faded just a spec, but still look OK." He said "Well we can't have that! Here! have a few more!" and handed us 4 more!!!

I've always thought the same myself. We have your typical A&W fare, and everyone else has something much better. No wonder we're always thought of as fat...

Can't believe we leave in 4 more days!!!!

Today on the countdown was the last of The Plaza....

Here is Mom's entree... she enjoyed hers more than I did

Grilled Reuben - thinly sliced corned beef on grilled marble rye with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing $10.79

Picture140.jpg

I wasn't having a great night, wanted to get my Mom back to the bus stop, so she could rest and get back to the park before it was too late. But our server wasnt cooperating with those plans.... took her forever to come get our dessert orders, so we just got them to go.... so much for a banana split!!!. Plus wasn't really too keen on using a TS credit for food that was CS quality.
I didn't get pics of them and really can't remember what I ate... but the next night was better....

On a side note... Mom took most of her sandwich back to the room with her (she was tired)... and when I returned to the room later (after MK closed for the evening) She was laying across the king-size bed with her sandwich in one hand and the tv remote in the other.....SOUND ASLEEP!!!!!

Unfortunately, we had to share the bed so I HAD to wake her!

Hey DaniTaylor! You figured out how to post pictures!! I knew if I could do it then you would have no trouble! I can't wait for Tusker House breakfast in November! :yay:
