Does anyone have any opinions and/or pictures of the African sampler appetizer at Jiko? DS son and I are thinking of trying it. We are definitely getting the mac & cheese filet!

It is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!

Thank you, Tigerkat! DS and I are going in August. It is his #1 dining request! His tastes buds have gotten more & more adventerous and I have him talked into trying this (or whatever they have similar at the time)! It looks fantastic!

Thank you, I will remember that. Allears does have a sampler type platter listed but it is different from the one you had.

Jiko is the meal we are most looking forward to. We are on deluxe dining and plan to take pictures of EVERYTHING we eat! DS is already planning our dining reviews!

I had planned on the maize crusted sturgeon for months before I went and the fish changed to cod, which our server didn't recommend. I went with her suggestion of the coffee braised short rib (which would have normally been the last thing I would have ordered), it was AMAZING. I think you'll be VERY pleased with JIKO.

I also think your DS would enjoy sitting at "The Cooking Place".....see my review...pg. 3

YUM, YUM, YUM!!

How was the chicken, potatoes and carrots and the strawberry shortcake? Also whats in the potatoes and was the chicken a rotissire (sp?)?

Thanks for the tip about posting the pics in one post! I hadn't thought of that.

Oh, and in case anyone thought the tomatoes were real, they're actually the ones in the garden at Mickey's house. Or is it Minnie's house? ;)

NOW, more photos:

It looks like Hijiki salad. This is a common side in Japanese cuisine. The black seaweed, sesame seed, daikon radish, scallion and cucumber dressed with a traditional rice wine vinaigrette makes a wonderful side dish or garnish for many types of cuisines.

:thumbsup2

I spotted some Seaweed on that last post!!! Yuuuuuuuuuuum! I LOVE seaweed!!! If your out there and you have never eaten Japanese seaweed... Its SOOOOOOOO good!!! You really have to try it! It doesn't taste anything like algae or fish like most people think. Its just cold and GOOD!!! I rank it as one of my top 25 foods, far above sushi, hamburgers & hot dogs (not even on the list), etc.

Yep yep. It actually came with my boyfriend's entree, but I stole it.. er um well I took it off of his hands =) I love seaweed as well! The only problem is trying to get it out of your teeth after chewing. ;)

I thought it was pretty good. The chicken was a little greasy, but not too bad. I think it was rotissire. I think the stuff in the potatoes is potato skin. The strawberry shortcake was pretty good. I had a bite of it (was DH's). It tasted more like a cake with whipcream and strawberries than actual strawberry shortcake. The creme brulee was pretty good too, but it was served cold, so it was really thick and heavy. I only ate part of it. It was just so much food! I'm not used to such a big lunch.

I would go to Sunshine Seasons again, if only for the variety, but b/c there is so much to try in Epcot, I will probably skip it next time.

Does anyone have a pic of the grilled vegetable sandwich from Backlot Express? It sounds delicious and I want to see if it looks good too! I looked through the categorized ones, but it was just a little red x.:sad2:

The one on the menu "Taste of Africa" is a great combo of hummus, dips and breads". The "Sampler Platter" is an assortment of all of the other appetizers listed on the menu excluding the flatbreads. It runs around $20 and is perfect for two.

Kinda OT:
Every time I go to this thread it takes me to page 72 of _____. Why is that? Why does it not take me to the last page I viewed?

Okay, that's all I can post tonight. The bad news, I don't think I'll be around tomorrow, so don't expect any more pictures until at least Thursday. The good news, I still have pictures from Le Cellier, Liberty Tree Tavern, Mama Melrose's, Marrakesh, Nine Dragons, Ohana, Prime Time, Rose and Crown, and Wolfgang Puck to add.

Can you please post Nine Dragons next??? Me and DH are headed to WDW Saturday and have ADR for dinner there.. this will be our first meal there..
