Disney Fantasy Numerous Questions Please Read and Give Me Your Thoughts, Opinions, ETC

Please note that I have watched several reviews on YouTube. I have read numerous reviews online. What I want is your individual options and thoughts. Your information is something I can not get by watching or reading a review.

We are sailing on the Fantasy in August. I am only familiar with the smaller ships. I feel so out of my element not knowing much about this ship. We had been booked on a 5-day Magic and had to reschedule.

I do know that the specialty restaurants include Remy and Palo.

I know the regular rotation has you eating at 2 places twice and the other three times.

I know they have the aquaduck.

I was surprised to see the adult pool is family-friendly during the day time.

This is really all I know. I am traveling with two 27-year-olds and my 5-year-old grandson.

Our itinerary will be the Western Caribbean.

I would love to know if there is a true formal night. What I read is confusing because it said there was but to not worry about how dressed you are.

What is available to pre-book? Tastings? What kind of tastings? Again I know what was available to book on the smaller ships but not sure what is offered to pre-book on the Fantasy.

Someone mentioned pre-ordering from Tiffany's. They wanted a Tiffany heart necklace. Are they different then the one you can buy at the stores on land?

Any info will be totally appreciated.

On cruises longer than 5 nights, there's typically a "formal" night and a "semi-formal" night. But that can vary, depending if it's a themed cruise (Star Wars, for example).

Tastings - beer, wine, mixology classes are available for pre-booking as well as other alcohol types. There are also some bookings available once onboard the ship. Adult dining - Palo/Remy (again, some availability once onboard for this, also). Generally the same things that are available on the Magic class ships are available on the Dream class.

The adult pool is not kid friendly 18+. That said, the flaw is that the forward elevator lets off near by. So in order to use the pool deck, families will walk through the adult area to get to the family area. Do not think that under 18 will be lounging there. The satellite falls area is 18+ only also, and does not have young children walking through.

There is a true formal night. First sea day. Later in the cruise is a semi formal dress night.

You can prebook all the same stuff, whiskey, beer, wine, liquor and chocolate, champagne, and mixology classes. There will be some available once you get on board as well to book. Try and ask the first day as they often sell out. You can also prebook excursions, the sports simulator, some spa treatments etc.

The Disney exclusive is the one I heard that scratches. I have several Tiffany pieces due to a store being close by.

Thank you for clearing up the adult pool issue. I was going to be truly disappointed if that was the case. Sometimes it is nice to get away from the kids for some adult time.

They do allow children and families on deck 12 that overlooks deck 11 and the adult pool. There is a little children's water play pool (1 foot deep or so) that I think I have seen referred to as the "Funnel puddle" up there too.

I believe that all DCL cruises of 7 nights or more have a formal night. The reason people say not to worry is you will see everything from evening gowns and tuxedos to polo shirts and slacks. As long as you are dresse for the dining room, nobody cares. I fall into the tuxedo catagory and drag my family along so we get some great family portraits, but that is something I enjoy. The Fantasy was our first ship. Your little one, and the biger ones, might like the detective game or the mini-golf. Both were lots of fun.

Formal Nights: On 7 night cruises there are the formal and semi formal nights. What might be confusing you is that you are not required to be dressed up for dinner. On all our 7 night cruises I have seen guests in normal cruise casual all the way to a tux and gown. It is up to you if you want to get dressed up. If you don't want to have to get dressed up for dinner, you don't have to, it is your choice.

Example: on semi formal night I wore a dress, DH work dress shirt/tie/sports coat and CARGO SHORTS. He said the shorts made it "semi" formal. He had fun with it and nobody cared.
