Disney Fantasy June 4, 2016

Welcome tmogoof! It seems as if we are a somewhat quiet group, but that is okay. So far, we are all traveling with DD's. I am assuming your Northern Europe cruise was on Disney, since you booked this cruise while on board. Have you been on either of the newer ships (Dream or Fantasy)?

Hi there. Yes, it looks pretty quiet and yes we have I been on some of the ships. Actually we gave been on the dream twice, the magic twice and the wonder 1 time. We are excited to go on the fantasy and to the Caribbean. For us we have went to the Bahamas twice, western Caribbean, Alaska and Northern Europe. I hope to get to the Mediterranean at some point. That is what I really wanted to do this year but with the schedule it did not work with our girls school schedules.

Tmogoof, so with this trip, you complete the grand slam of Disney cruising, all four ships! Congratulations. We have yet to sail on the Dream.

thanks we like all of the boats so far. we are excited to go on the fantasy

Welcome tmogoof :) Thats awesome you have been on all 4 boats. I have only been on Magic and Fantasy. So excited about this trip!

Just wanted to let you all know we have moved to the May 28th cruise. Saved about $1100.

Have fun. We did the western a year ago in December. Cozumel and Grand Cayman are nice. We liked Grand Cayman better between the 2.

? - hotel for before the stay. Have any of you ever stayed at a hotel that is close to the pier / port in Port Canaveral that Disney leaves from? We have stayed at the hotel there at the airport and also at our home resort which is Animal Kingdom. I am contemplating staying at a hotel close to the pier in June but am unsure and also not sure what is nice and close to the pier. Any input?

Ooh, saving money is always awesome. I think DD would kill us though for making her miss her graduation exercises. Have a great time on your cruise.

We are traditionalists, and have always stayed at the Radisson at the port prior to our cruise. They have different size rooms depending on your party and how much you want to spend. It is an older resort, and some rooms show their wear and tear. Most times, we have met other cruisers at the pool the day before, and then have met up with them during the cruise. They have both interior and exterior hallways, and you can see the ship from certain upper exterior hallways. They offer a shuttle to and from the port, which has changed a lot over the years. You can pay a certain rate for a room for the one night to get parking for the length of the cruise, and two vouchers for the shuttle.

We are staying again there this year, but are contemplating driving our car to the port. While the shuttle has served us well, we are just thinking of having one less step after the cruise to start our drive.

thank you for the information. We are flying in from Colorado so we definitely will need a shuttle to the port. I thought it would be nice to be in that area, be there earlier in the day and possibly check out cocoa beach. I don't know. More research to do.

Port Canaveral area is not a "walking" destination. If you are going to do a lot of exploring, then you may want to rent a car. Years ago, we rented from Avis at the airport, did some exploring around the Port Canaveral area, then dropped off the next morning in Port Canaveral. It was about a 10-15 minute walk back to the Radisson (without a great sidewalk) from the Avis location. But I imagine locations have changed, so there may be a hotel that has a rental car location connected or nearby.

On our very first cruise, we took a limo from the airport to the Radisson, used the Radisson shuttle to the port, and at the end of the cruise we had the limo pick us up at the terminal.

There are a lot of different options depending on how much time you are planning on spending in the area, and what time flights are.

So would mine! We start so early here that her graduation is actually the first week of May believe it or not. We just have to wait until her sister is out to go and her last possible make up day for snow is May 26th. Have fun!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are thinking of doing the zip line in Tortola. Since we have never been zip lining before, I was looking for a local place that offered it. I thought it would be better to try it out to make sure we liked it before spending the excursion cost. We have the U.S. Whitewater Center near us, as well as a few others. But the costs of all of these are high enough, so it does not make sense to do them as a trial. Ah, the joys of doing research.

Hey everyone, we just moved our April cruise to this date- it will be myself, hubby, 15 year old DS and 13 year old DD, and we are getting excited. Have been on the Magic when she sailed out of NYC back in 2012 and the Fantasy in 2014. Loved them both. Just wanted to say hi-
