Disney Fantasy - Dining rotation and Animator's Palate appetizer question

On the Fantasy, aside from matching your dress to a restaurant or food/meal preferences, is there a reason you wouldn't want to miss dining in Enchanted Garden or Royal Court on your first assigned night? Like with the show in AP? Hubs and I want to do both Remy and Palo but don't want the kids to miss something in the MDR that we'll regret. TIA. :)

The only MDR that has a "show" is Animator's Palate. The other dining rooms are just dining rooms. Different décor, and nice, but no "show".

I'm sitting in animators palate right now and I just had a discussion on this with a truly great head server. He said that there really is no need for this anymore, it doesn't help them and they could handle the regular menu fine. He said they get a ton of complaints. He said when the menu first came out it helped but is now not needed. The problem is it comes from shoreside, they have no choice ( they will get you the regular apps from another resteraunt if you ask nice)

Sounds like a typical case of the suits being out of touch with customers and with the rank and file employees. :sad1:

This is true, we have spoken to chefs at Palo on changes to things like Scones, on the former English afternoon tea and sandwiches it was good then bad, and after complaints good. Shoreside interfered and told them to change it, complaints got it back then they dropped afternoon tea.

Has anyone tried to order other appetizers from the other MDRs recently on the drawing night? We are going on the Fantasy in October and there is no way anyone in my family would eat the trio that is served or the soup, but I sure would love to be able to order what is on the menu that night in the other MDRs. Maybe if we ask the day before and tell them what we would like, the servers could be able to get it for us. Anyone else tried this?

I do not think they would but speak to your head server, if you think you do not like it ask and they will find something for you, even a cheese board.

I posted before I had mine adapted as there was something like fish on it that I didn't eat.

Ask the night before. i will next month and will report back.

Can anyone report back about the appetizers in Animator's? We are going on the Fantasy next week and really don't want the trio.

I'm not sure that will help you any. I'll just point out that the menu available in the other MDRs that evening is the same menu that's in AP. It's just that the one in AP is abbreviated.

Here's a link to the various Animation Magic menus for the different nights:

I didn't realize that the appetizer sampler varies based on the night. I did enjoy the appetizer sampler that they had that night (Captain's gala night). The soup wasn't as bad as I had expected. The warm chocolate lava cake for dessert was excellent!! That was one of the reasons why I agreed with my wife when she wanted the ERAERAE rotation.

If there absolutely is not enough time to take orders with the show, then another solution would be to allow you to choose your appetizer, soup/salad, and dessert the night before.

I'm not certain that the appetizer does vary (in Animator's). I'm just not sure what appetizers may be available on the full menu in the other MDRs. I do know the page for the entree is the same as in the other MDRs (full selection), just the appetizer/soup selection isn't really a selection (well, you can "select" not to get it, I guess).

Our Animation magic starters have varied, we did a back to back on the Fantasy, different rotations different starters, on the Magic last month the same, it was different on different nights, we had the Frozen menus version, but as it had fish I had my own version.

My menus scan is on my trip report if anyone wants to check it.

Another idea would be to do the animation show your first night in Animator's Palate, when you have the specific Animator's Palate menu. That menu could have just the 1 appetizer, soup, and dessert choice, and it would affect everybody on the ship equally. The last night in Animator's Palate could be the Crush show, which doesn't affect the menus at all.

Somehow, I think these decisions were made by "shoreside" who has never even seen a cruise ship. lol
