Disney Fantasy - Dining rotation and Animator's Palate appetizer question

My wife now wants to request the rotation that puts us in Royal Court for the first formal night. Assuming that nothing changes for Halloween and/or Rosh Hashanah, that would be ERAERAE. Not sure I like that, since it puts us in Animator's Palate for the 2nd formal night, and means that we'll get the dumbed down menu for the Captain's Gala, which means probably missing the best menu.

I think your terminology is a bit confusing.

I have only ever heard them called "formal" and "semi-formal" nights on DCL - there is no first formal night or second formal night.

I mention this because I have been on some cruises where the semi-formal night happens before the formal night.

There were Navigators posted from one of the Halloween cruises last year. If I'm reading correctly, it looks like Halloween was celebrated on Wednesday night. All other nights stayed the same as usual.

Saturday - casual
Sunday - formal
Monday - casual
Tuesday - pirate
Wednesday - Halloween
Thursday - semi formal
Friday - casual

Here's the link I have bookmarked:

Thank you. Sounds like the Halloween night is the Prince and Princess night. I assume it doesn't affect the rotations at all.

Still not sure if Rosh Hashanah affects the rotations at all.

Most have said they didn't believe there would be a reason for it to affect the rotations. The only way to get a definitive answer is to call DCL. Of course, the CMs who answer the 800# aren't always knowledgeable about reality onboard. Have you gone through past navigators to see if there was a variation made in the past? I really don't see why it would.

Assuming you are talking about Halloween: another poster said that they changed AERAERA to AERAEER. The Navigators give no hint as to whether or not that is the case.

I believe the difference in those rotations is the difference in itineraries, not so much the holiday. Our Eastern itinerary has 1231231 for the rotation and our Western had 1231223.

Ok, so that explains that, and also explains why that poster had pirate night on Night 5.

For the Eastern, given that neither the pirate night nor the Halloween night conflict with Rosh Hashanah, I would assume no changes to the rotation. I doubt that anybody would object to formal night on Rosh Hashanah.

So it's really a question of AERAERA vs. ERAERAE. I know that Night 2 is more formal than Night 6, but AERAERA has both of those nights in a somewhat formal dining room. My wife seems to want ERAERAE given that Night 2 is more formal than Night 6, but then it means semi-formal night in Animator's Palate and with the substandard menu. It seems to me that AERAERA is the best overall. Plus, it makes sense to have the substandard menu on the last night.

Thanks. So, it sounds like the rotations will almost certainly be either AERAERA, ERAERAE, or RAERAER.

One other thing I should mention: our cruise is Sept. 12, 2015. Last year, we were on the Dream 4 night cruise the week of Sept. 7, 2014, and by then, they started the Halloween theme, which changed the rotations. We had the ERRA rotation, so normally we would have been in Royal Palace on the formal night, as my wife wanted. But due to Halloween, the 2nd night was Halloween night, so the formal night was the 4th night, when we were in Animator's Palate, which made no sense. How does the Halloween season affect the rotations on the 7 night cruises?

Also, I doubt that this matters, but Rosh Hashanah falls during the cruise that we are booked. Rosh Hashanah falls Sept. 14-15, 2015, and I know that Jewish holidays start at sundown the night before, so the nights of Sept. 13 and 14 (Nights 2 and 3) would be during Rosh Hashanah. Does that affect the rotations at all? I assume not. I am not Jewish, by the way, but just curious as to whether or not it would affect the rotations.

Thanks. :)

DH are on the same cruise. I have been wondering about the menus and rotations myself. I am very picky and on our last Wonder cruise I did not eat much and the Waiter gave me a nasty look when I ordered a Mickey bar for Dessert:confused3 My sister in law says she does it all the time. It is upsetting to hear about the limited appetizers.

I guess feeling a menu is substandard is in the eye of the beholder. We have been on the Dream/Fantasy a few times and I never felt AP on the Fantasy during the animation night had a substandard menu. I don't think I even realized there was much of a difference. I remember not enjoying the Popcorn Soup they used to have. Have not tried the new soup but will in March.

I also don't think Disney is limiting the amount of apps that night to try to save a few bucks. It makes sense to keep the options down that night so the meal can flow in a timely manner due to the time it takes to draw. With all the food they offer onboard all week long from the dining rooms down to the apps they put out at night outside the adult lounges I can't imagine Disney trying to save a few bucks on apps during the 2nd AP night. Makes no sense to me.

Most likely. As with anything Disney, it's subject to change unexpectedly for no good reason that we can discern lol. :rotfl:

Seriously though, Disney seems to keep doing that with the parks at least. I plan and plan and plan...and a week before my trip they change something that messes up my plans. :crazy2:

We really did very little planning for our last (and only) cruise. I requested a dinner rotation (which we got) and decided what to wear each night. That's about the extent of my planning lol. It was strange to have so little to plan. I don't care about matching my outfit to the dining room though, so I don't have that issue to worry about. I have read of a lot of people who do that, so your wife isn't alone lol. ;)

Did the waiter give you a dirty look because you didn't finish your meal but ordered a dessert? Or was the dirty look because you ordered off the kids menu?

Here here. I would have said exactly the same thing.

The Mickey bar isn't on the "kids menu." It's not on any menu--people just know to order them. And I've never had a server (waiter?) give me a dirty look for whatever I've ordered (kids menu, etc) or whether or not I finished my food. My guess is that she either had a server with an off night or misinterpreted his look.

No, I am referring to the other holiday you asked about.

But it seems that rotations such as AERAEER are on the Western itinerary, and has nothing to do with holidays.

You asked if it would change the rotation earlier, for a second time in this thread so I was trying to answer your question.
