Updated!

Corkie, tell PeytonBrady if she has any questions about cruising with a baby feel free to put them in the thread or PM me, I cruised with my daughter Lexi back in April when she was about 9 months old.

Why are you so sweet!!!!! There are just such people on this board.. Seriously, thank you all for checking on things and caring. I have not yet booked. I can't book until Monday am when my agent is back and I have confirmation (which I get tonight from hubby) that he gets this time. I so hop that VGT is there in the morning and the main dinning. that would be HUGE!!!!! I want my hubby to get the amazing relaxing vacation that man deserves. And then to have magical moments with his daughter. Yes it would be such a blessing. I love him. And am so excited Chris for what you found. Here hoping tomorrow works!!!!

Good luck to you! Hope everything goes smoothly with your booking today. Let us know how it all goes for you.

And if you're not happy with your current TA, there are many more TAs out there. We have used ours for two cruises and she's been really great.

Welcome to the cruise thread!

Unless there is anyone else that is interested, we are going to close the FE list in the next day or so. Right now we are at 14 confirmed cabins participating, with one cabin (Dayita) I have not heard back from. I am thinking that she is no longer going to be cruising with us, but she has not logged on to the DIS in a few months.

Hi Chris,

Although we are not joining in on the FEs, I just wanted to say "Thank You!" for taking over the cruise thread and keeping track of the FE list.

A few weeks ago, I was reading through someone's recent trip report and the writer mentioned your "name" on the day the ship was at Castaway Cay. I believe she was witnessing your baby's first "swim" in the ocean (or something like that). Hope it was a great cruise for you and your family!

We are going !!! Cruise paid in full!!! I am so so excited!!!
Does anyone know What dinner menu you don't want to miss? I want to make two night adult dinners. But what nights should I be looking to do?

Is anyone thinking of doing the 5K run at Castaway Cay? A few of my family members might give it a try.:cheer2:

I am sure my daughters will be game for that. I would love to do it. Do we have to enter somewhere? Is there a cool t-shirt involved? We are also going on the snorkeling cruise. If you can send a link to this event - I would love to read about it!:cool1:

:cheer2: Yay!!

Deciding which dinners to miss is a matter of personal choice. You will get different answers from everyone. In my personal opinion, with just one cruise (in 2010) under my belt, the Pirate Night menu was NOT very good. Of course, one may not want to miss out on the excitement surrounding the meal for that night. Again, it's a matter of personal opinion.

If you PM me, I can give you the link to the scanned menus from the Fantasy's Maiden voyage. (I don't believe I'm allowed to include the links on the boards.) Of course, these may have been changed since that first voyage, but they'll give you an idea of what to expect. Then you can always make your choices based on your eating preferences. Of course, your choice of reservations will be subject to what is available at this point...

I am considering it. The rest of my family can't be talked into it so I may just do it on my own. A great way to see the island before everyone else gets off the ship. And there's still plenty of time afterwards to enjoy the island!

i tried to pm you. Send a private message and it said you don't receive them. Would love to see the menu. I think you can post them. I have seen them in the past for other cruises.
Thanks

My husband and 2 of the 4 boys want to do it.....(one is under 12 (he is 11) so I hope they let him run!!))

Funny - you have 4 girls?! We have the 4 boys!

Hey we have four kids also - 2 boys and 2 girls. Funny to run across multiple families with four kids on the cruise. We do not encounter that many families IRL with 4 kids.

Our oldest son (16) and oldest daughter (she will be 12 by the cruise) are planning to do the 5K on the island. They have even started doing practice runs around the neighborhood so they will be ready (both are competitive swimmers, so they are in shape but less so when it comes to running).

Ha! I meant to say that the husband and 3 of the four will be running the 5k. (The yooungest is only 5...)

They all run cross-country and track. 2 of the boys (oldest-14 and 3rd-11) just ran a 5k with decent time (21:15 and 23something). Just hope it is not too hot and humid....

Oh - and I have a TON of friends who have 4 (or more!!) kids....must be something in the water around here....:rotfl:

Sorry about that! Looks like I had the private messages enabled but it was limited to friends/administrators only. Got that changed so I can receive all pm's.

Here's the link to the Fantasy's Maiden Voyage Menus:

Now that I think about it... I believe I originally found the link here on the DISboards lol!!

I agree that its very personal. Depends on your likes and dislikes. Pirate night was one of my favourites, but I'm also a big seafood eater. While they looked ok, my least favourites were the Royal Palace and Enchanted Garden, in the order. But we've chosen our Palo night to be on our Grand Cayman day. Mainly because there is no show that night also. We plan on taking the kids to dinner in the rotational restaurant at our normal time. We may or may not just order an appetiser and then us 3 adults will eat in Palo. Sounds good in theory anyway. I'm hoping it is RP or EG as I will be fine not ordering anything from those menus.

Absolutely not even considerating it. :scared1: I'm having enough trouble trying to drag myself out into the cold to walk in practice for the amount of walking we will do at Disney World.

Hi:yay:

WE have just added this cruise to our WDW holiday, a last minute impulsive thing as we have been dying to try the Fantasy having been lucky enough to be on many cruises on the other disney boats. The VGT price was just too good to be true so we have gone and booked !!

VERY EXCITED

"We" are Me (Bren) OH ( Paul) & DD (Georgia 7), we live in newcastle uk, via ireland
:shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock:

I have an awful lot of catching up to do and will try and read all the thread tonight.

If its not too late I would love to join the FE , as it has been one of our dd's favourite things on previous cruises.

Ok will be back here once Im up to date

It's been a while since I've posted -

Getting REAL excited now for the trip not so far away! I had planned to go scuba diving in Cozumel for our stop there but while at my first day of getting certified to dive here in NJ at a local scuba shop, I suffered from a bad case of vertigo after being in the water for a few hours. I have done scuba before after a resort course in Turks and Caicos about 8 years ago with no problem, however I was in Maui back in 2007 and signed up to get certified there (nice than NJ :) and had the same vertigo thing happen but I just chalked it up to getting sea sick in the ocean that was a little rough while we were practicing skills. So.... after ending up in the emergency room for 4 hours (everything was spinning and I couldn't stop vomiting), they gave me some meds and everything calmed down after a couple of days. Needless to say, I won't be diving in August. I will however be snorkeling. I found a great tour with over 100 excellent reviews on Trip Advisor (and I've also had several email exchanges with them) - Two D's Diving and Tour Adventures. They take small groups (adult $65 and child $40) and will let me have my kids who'll be 6 and 7 (both swim and have snorkeled before plus they'll have vests for them). Five of us are going (me and DH and DS + both kids).

I did see the ENT today and have some hope - she believes I have a small tear between the inner and middle ear which is preventing me from equalizing the pressure as I go down (so fluid is leaking from inner to middle ear into the eustacian tube causing the vertigo). If that's what it is, it can be repaired and I may be able to finally dive again after all! I'll wait for next year though....

Thanks Chris I will tell her.

Getting close had a bad night sleep, waking up thinking about the cruise.

Hope to get together.

I am undecided on it. I ran it in April, and it was fun, but I am a pretty serious runner (even if not an especially speedy one), and it took a long time. Waiting in the lounge on the ship, then walking to the adult beach tram stop area, then running the race, it took about 90 minutes all told to do all of it, where I could run twice that around the ship in less time. It is definitely fun though.
