Disney Fantasy, August 18, 2012 - Western Caribbean

How early do they want us off the ship? What time should our taxi pick us up. I have it booked for 9:00am . Should I have it pick us up earlier? We will be going to Pop Century and then to Hollywood Studios.
Thanks:confused3

You would need to contact the hotel... the lot is not 100% secure, I was reading another post and there were people who had their car broken into.

Maybe try this one... http://parkcruise.com/

If you are flying down, it might be cheaper to return your rental car in Port Canaveral, and then pick up a new one after the cruise.

Thanks for the link. That is a great deal! I think the only thing we would leave in the car is extra clothing and purchases from IOA/US and Discovery Cove. All big valuables will be coming with us on the ship.

We will be driving from Virginia a week before the cruise.

Dining rotations are a request type of thing. Just send an email to DCL or to your TA (I used a TA) to have your request added to your reservation. While it's certainly not guaranteed, I think they do try to honor it as I'm sure there really aren't too many people like me who nit-pick down to the rotation. :rolleyes1

I'll be paying the cruise off this week.

Thanks. My cruise is paid in full so I am going to e-mail them my request. We did not use a TA. We exchanged our timeshare week for a huge discount on this cruise.

Could anyone post a good packing list for the cruise?

I know a lot of experienced cruisers are here and I would love some tips and packing musts that are not listed on the DCL web site.

I am mostly worried about over packing! I know there are nights for formal, semi formal, plus dh is going to need to pack slacks for the dining rooms.

I think that a Taxi would get you there quicker. I used Happy Limo.

I would think 9 is a good time. They want everyone off by 9:30, I think? I'm planning for 9, too, but we'll need to head to Budget to pick up our one-day rental.

While I'm not a super-experienced cruiser (been on 3), I do specialize in taking lots of vacations (with kids) :) ;) so I feel I'm pretty prepared most of the time. The most important thing I do is make my list so I can check it off as I pack because so many times I forget the little stuff that makes life easier. Packing is also individual for each so what's good for me may not be good for others. I do plan on doing laundry so will only be packing for 3 days worth of clothing (in addition to formal wear). I usually bring a black pair of pants with a couple of fancy tops to wear for the formal nights instead of fancy dresses. I just got back from a 6 day trip to Disney and stayed in a DVC studio so I'll probably pack the same because we did laundry there as well.

In addition to the clothes, the "kind of" not so common and common stuff I always pack to make life easier is:
1. Bonine (for sea sickness - they sell for children also). I start taking on the departure day).
2. Goggles for kids
3. night light for bathroom
4. laundry soap (probably pods - Arm and Hammer ones because they're powder and won't explode or leak in luggage) and dryer sheets.
5. crocs/flip flops for kids
6. suntan lotion/spray
7. liquid hand soap (not crazy about everyone using the bar to wash hands).
8. Beach bag for excursions
9. Snacks for plane/port for kids
10. plastic BPA free bottles for filling for excursions or wherever (that have tops that can fit ice through). I also bring neoprene holders to keep cold (they're not insulated).
11. Pirate stuff for the pirate night (pirate shirt, eye patch, bandana, etc...)

Anyway - just a few things I always take.

Some people say they like to bring power strips (to charge multiple things at once), mp3 players and extra batteries

Here's a list I found online as well: http://mommysecrets.blogspot.com/2009/03/disney-cruise-packing-list.html

FYI - Disney is raising ticket prices effective on Sunday. You can buy tickets today and tomorrow at the old prices and they will still be good if you are going down before or after our cruise.

Florida is also Eastern Standard Time (EST) - so it would be 3:00 a.m. on June 4th (same as New York time).

Woohoo! Welcome. This is our first ever cruise too. Where are you from?

Wooooohoooooo!!!! I got all the excursions that I had wanted.

Mom and DB#3 will be on the Nautilus while DS and I do the Shipwreck & Reef Snorkel in Grand Cayman. I was able to book those for the same time and we were hoping to also do the Island Tour but, unfortunately, the times left for that conflicted with our other excursions. Maybe we'll book directly through Captain Marvin for the island tour.

We're all going on the Chacchoben Ruins tour on Costa Maya

We're all taking the Cozumel Highlights and Mayan Ruins tour on Cozumel. Since that one ends at 1:00, we'll even have a few hours to shop. :woohoo:

I was even able to get a Palo brunch on Thursday at 11:30. :faint:

YAAAAAAYYYYYYY. Now to try to get a decent check-in time but online check-in doesn't open up until 3:00 am. I don't think I'll wait up for that. I'll take my chances first thing in the morning.

I hope all you other newbies get the excursions you've been dreaming of, too. :flower3:

I got the 11AM check in. We are going on the Chacchoben ruin tour. Got a Palo dinner and the Botswain Adventure park. Then the system was getting overloaded and had to stop. Probably a lot of people making their reservations. I will get back to it later.

Now if I can just get back to sleep.

Good Morning! I just got the 11:00am check in. I'm going to book my excursions now! To excited to go back to bed.

Hi!

I was successful in getting the excursions we wanted and the 11:00 am port arrival time!

Propbably could have waited until a decent hour but I didn't want to chance it! So I did them at midnight and 3am!!! Ugh....gonna be a LONG day...

But the kids are thrilled!

We are going on the Nautilus Undersea Tour and Reef Snorkel, Chacchoben Mayan Ruins, and the Fury Catamaran. Didn't need any adult dining or spa times.

I was able to get an 11:00 boarding time. :yay:

Very cool that there will be quite a few of us on the Chacchoben excursion.

Oh so very exciting! Congrats everyone! I just so love the DISboards and all the ins and outs that I've learned on here. I keep thinking back to my very first trip to WDW and how completely unprepared I had been. Wish I would have had you all back then.
