Disney Fantasy, August 18, 2012 - Western Caribbean

Very quiet here, we are almost at the 1 year mark woohoo! Just got back from a long weekend camping trip. back to work on night shift tonight:sad1:Wonder how the building of the fantasy is coming along?Anyone have any updates lately?:confused3

Well I have some change of plans , my daughters have changed their reservation to april on the magic instead, I will still be cruising on the fantasy but will be adding my grandaughter Tori to our cabin and had to upgrade to add so our cabin number is 10114. My daughters will be taking the younger grankids in April, it works out better for them price wise and also with their work schedules, sad they wont be joing us but I just couldnt give up a cruise on the fantasy! I know they will have a blast even without me along:lmao:. Wow this cruise is really filling up as I did have a 4c and wasnt able to add Tori to it so had to go with 4a and pay the price but I know it will be worth every penny! Ihave pm d dvcchris with the info in case we start up a fe exchange, we are almost at the 1 year mark wooohoooo:yay:

Sorry to hear that your daughters won't be joining us, I will update the first page to reflect that.

I cannot wait till we hit the 1 year mark, we will probably start doing FE information soon!

Thanks Chris, yes I do wish they were coming on this cruise but maybe in 2013 we will all be able to cruise together. Wow almost the 1 year mark and once we start planning the fe exchange its gonna seem all that more closer! I have still a suitcase full of leftover things from our last 2 cruises and maybe I will be able to make use of most of it. Im still try to deciede where to stay and for how long and also if we will stay both before and after the cruise. Im pretty much a go with doing perhaps 3 days before and 1 or 2 days after, may do universal for the 2 days after the cruise:confused3

I am very happy to see the countdown begins for our trip.: Cheer2:
in which hotel you stay at Disney and Universal?
I love the POP and well priced. And in universal ,we will be in the hard rock.
greetings!!!!

Hello Lola, I am still trying to make my mind up about where to stay, I may even just do a universal stay and a stay in port canaveral as we have never been to the Kennedy space centre and would like to spend 2 days there since there is so much to see. If thats the case then we will probably do 2 nights before the cruise at an port canaveral hotel then after the cruise3 nights at a universal hotel , not sure which one as of yet.I have been searching the boards to find out more about hotels around pc and we didnt plan to rent a car so am trying to find out if any of the hotels have a shuttle to the space centre. Perhaps someone here will know and can give me some info? I quess in a way its a good thing its still a year out cause I still have alot of planning to do. lol! I would miss going to disney if we skip it on this trip so I would just have to go back around christmas time to get my disney fix! My dh and my grandson are going to rather go to universal and space centre then disney as they are not as disney crazy as me and my grandaughter. Oh well that just gives me another trip to do lol:rotfl::cool1:

Exactly one year from today that I'll be heading down to FL!!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay:

My mom and I were just talking about this last night. Our plans are to head down the Wednesday before the cruise and go to Universal/IOA for a few days. We last went in 2008 so Harry Potter wasn't open yet and we all want to see that now. Plus, IMHO, 2 1/2 days in Universal is just enough but 2 1/2 days in Disney is just a tease!! :rotfl: In 2008 we stayed at a La Quinta on Major Blvd. It was really close to U/IOA, had a daily shuttle, was decently clean (not 5 star but nowhere near roach city), and it was CHEAP!!

Just for giggles and, I admit, to show off to my mom a bit, I tried to price our cruise last week. Had I not booked back in February, I wouldn't be able to book us in the same room at all now! We're in an 8c (#8512 to be exact) with the 4 of us. I can't book an 8c with more than 3 people now. Even if I could book the 4 of us in the same stateroom, the total would be almost $1,600 more than when I did book. :scared1:

Hi Mary, yes the prices are sooo much more if you had to book at this point, so glad I booked earlier as well! Actually I hadnt thought about the fact that we too would already be at the 1 year mark since we would be in Florida already at this date! wooohoooo! Still so much to plan , will start looking into a limo service to get us to our pc stay wherever that may be ,then to our journey from pc to universal after the cruise. Have you used a limo service before if so do you have a recomendation?:confused3

I used Happy Limo twice - once in 2007 to take us from OKW to Sanford airport for the flight home. We flew into MCO and out of Sanford that trip. That time everything went as well as can be expected so we used them in 2008 for a triple leg - MCO to Universal area; Universal to POR; POR to Sanford. THAT experience was  and I will probably never use them again as a result. There were no life-threatening moments but a series of miscommunications and, IMHO, poor customer service issues that I just still can't believe. :confused3

I'm starting the debate, myself, of whether we should use a car service or just rent a car for the few days before the cruise. Anyone else have any recommendations?

Wow they were a service I had thought about ,I have been looking into ace limo so may do some more research on ace and forego happy limo,so much planning! Now Im beginning to think we may just do universal for 3 nights and leave port canaveral for another trip. Its exhausting already !lol! Thank goodness its a year away as Im finding I keep coming up with different plans lol the only plan that isnt gonna change is the 7 nights on the fantasy wow I wish I was on that ship right now. I need a rest from all this planning, my brain is in overload!lol:rotfl::confused3:sad2::eek::scared1::lmao:

I got to Universal last year to experience Potter, and it was the first time I had been there in about 7 years or so. Definitely a fun time, and Disney has nothing that can touch Forbidden Journey.

I am trying to figure out what I am going to do myself. I know I will be staying at VWL after the cruise, but am contemplating a few nights at Vero beforehand. Hard to say for sure though. Usually we rent a car, as that tends to be cheaper than the Limo services if booked far enough in advance.

I'm really debating the car issue. Renting a car might be cheaper but then we've got to drive ourselves and my mom isn't the best co-pilot/navigator and she doesn't like to drive in new areas. :upsidedow I don't mind as long as the road signs are plentiful and easy to read (read: not "tuuuurrrrrrn....NOW" type of signs :lmao:).

We drove over to Secaucus, NJ (right across the river from New York Ciy) a few weeks ago and the signs were HORRIBLE. There was one point that we needed to pick up 3 East (I think). See a sign "3W make a left here, 3E go straight" so I go straight. And I keep going. and going. and going. and shouldn't we have had to turn by NOW? Turn around, get almost to the original sign telling us to go straight.... and lookeee there.... about a block in from the road we were traveling on is a sign for 3E. Nothing on the road we were on telling us to turn there, you just had to look down the side street to see the route 3 signage. :dance3: I have never been sssoooooo frustrated. NJ road signs suck! :headache:

So I hesitate to rent a car for Univeral/Port Canaveral.

BTW: How's that precious princess of yours Chris? princess:

hello!!!!!
I was at NASA in 2008 and loved: Thumbsup2
the problem is that they close early and not enough time to see everything: Sad2:
in my opinion is a destination not to miss
in Spain always say that driving in the U.S. is very simple and safe
but I never go through to rent a car. I prefer to go by taxi or bus service disney;)
greetings!!!!

Hi Lola.. Can you tell me how you got to nasa did you take a taxi? and if so where were you staying? I was told that there werent alot of taxi service and that you really needed to rent a car to go and do the space centre. I have narrowed it down to either portofino or royal pacific hotel at universal, leaning towards royal pacific for the theme more geared to kids I think. We will do 3 nights at universal but am still trying to figure out about the space centre, it does look like it would be a great place to see, we could maybe do 2 nights at pc and be able to take 2 days to visit there before the cruise. Im just more concerned whether we would have to rent a car or not. If we can do a taxi then Im all for it! I would prefer not to have to rent a car and do the driving it just makes the vacation all the more relaxing, and thats what this trip is all about!:thumbsup2:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::cheer2:
