Just back from the Fantasy yesterday

Post cruise depression sucks! But hopefully posting on this board will be some much needed therapy!
So, here is my detailed review on our room location of 7182 (I will post a stateroom report later). The location is okay - not the best in the world but we got some much needed exercise! We docked on the port side in all 3 places (St. Maarten, St. Thomas and CC), so the views from our verandah were great!!
The first night was very rocky - the captain said it was a lot of wind and we also crossed the Gulf Stream at that time which added to the motion. It was bad in our room, but it was equally as bad in all other parts of the ship (WDT, by the pools, in the atrium, etc.). When we were watching the show in the WDT, the curtains were literally swaying back and forth. The actors, however, did not miss a beat!
Nights 2, 3, and 4 were perfect. When docking, you do hear the thrusters more in the aft rooms than you do in forward but it's not that loud and there was barely any vibration.
Night 5 was a different story. The CD has told us that the ship would have to travel close to maximum speed when leaving St. Thomas in order to reach CC on time. The vibration that night was HORRIBLE! I was literally shaking in bed the entire night. Also, the wooden hangers in the closet were rattling. Right around sunrise, I finally took a pillow and went to Deck 4 to try to get some sleep. There was no vibration there at all.
A few things worth mentioning about the vibration...
- It didn't bother my husband and he was in the same bed, so the tolerance level depends on the individual.
- I do not get seasick but thought I was going to on the first night (I went to GS and got a pack of pills and I was fine). The vibration did not leave me with that same feeling I had the first night. I didn't feel sick - it was just very uncomfortable and lasted all night.
- I tried laying on the pull-out sofa my son was sleeping on and that was much better. I don't know if it was because it it sideways in the room or if it's firmer, but the vibration on the sofa bed was much less noticeable than in the queen bed.
- We were an hour late leaving that day because the ship actually waited for a family on a non-Disney excursion. I don't know if the ship traveled faster than planned to make up that time or if they had built in some cushion for unforeseen circumstances.
Night 6 was the night before CC and it was fine. No vibrations whatsoever.
Night 7 the Captain said it would be rocky because we were crossing the Gulf Stream again. We felt nothing in the room.
So, bottom line is there was only 1 night where I regretted staying in an aft room. One bad night out of 7 wasn't that big of a deal and we wouldn't hesitate to stay in aft again as long as we chose an itinerary that didn't have multiple nights of traveling at max speed.
Hope that helps.
