Disney Executive Producer admits to actively trying to "add queerness" and a "not-at-all-secret gay agenda"

I think this thread will be closed before too long, but all I know is what you are told is a conspiracy today is often exposed to be the truth months down the line. The recordings are real, and it's not a new thing. Rufo is not a tinfoil hat idiot running around. He's well educated, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute (yes, it is a conservative think tank), and he's worked with a variety of well-established intellectuals. This isn't a new endeavor for him. People send him recordings from work meetings, etc, and he investigates.

I just checked the WSJ searching for Chris Rufo expose on Disney executives - nothing showed. Then tried Disney executives and got articles on the CEO and his response to Florida’s bill, worker walkouts etc… but nothing close to what Rufo is putting out. Unless it shows up in actual news media, it doesn’t hold it to scrutiny. We’ll see what happens.
"Reimagine Tomorrow" isn't a conspiracy theory, Disney brags about it.

You misunderstood. I’m just saying, in my personal opinion, the video clips may have been creatively spliced/edited, because the executives come off sounding like tunnel vision fanatics.

Or perhaps they are not edited and more to the point why do you think the executives are fanatics? You don’t seem inclusive at all.

I'm sorry but that is hard for me to believe - major news sites haven't covered actual important, critical news over the last few years. They then come out a year or two later and say "oh yeah, that did happen".
Curious what important, critical news hasn’t been covered?

He’s shown a pattern of doing exactly what is suggested… dodgy reporting and trimming down stories to highlight just the sound bite he wants on the newswire.

Good for Disney. And for those of you who don't like it... well when you click on your username at the top of the screen you can hit that "log out" button. And if you want to cancel your next Disney vacation I'm sure some of us will enjoy the shorter wait times.

Recent internet marketing study shows Americans grossly overestimate the number of minorities in over 40 categories. A few examples:

Americans estimated Transgenders were 21% of the population. The actual figure is less than 1%. Americans estimated the number of Lesbian or Gay individuals is 30%. The actual is 3%. Americans estimated the number of Bisexual individuals to be 29%. The actual figure is 4%. That must mean that Americans think a mere 20% are straight or something else.

As for religious groups, Americans estimated that 30% of the population is Jewish when it is 2%. They believe Muslims represent 27% of the population and not the mere 1% that really is. Americans think Catholics come in at 41% of the population, when it's closer to 22%. Notice that the estimates don't leave a lot of room for any other religion.

The full survey results are below. It's an interesting read.

I won't argue about the religions, but gender related, you do know that not everyone is out of the closet. I can imagine that in conservative areas there are a lot of people who do not say they are gay.

But do the percentages matter? Whether it is 50% minorities or 10%, you want your audience to feel included in one way or another. From a moral and a financial pov, it is the right thing to do.

Because we are now and the coming 5 -10 years in the early stages of this diversity and inclusion it sometimes feels forced when you see a show with a white person, person of colour, asian (because those are the only 3 races we know ;) ), a gay, gender fluid and a person in a wheelchair in the main ensemble.

Give it time and it will feel more natural.

Also there will come a time when producers realize that their inclusion is limited. Adding a white gay guy is representing a different group than a gay guy of colour. You can never put all the variations front and center. They will learn to spread it over multiple shows.

Awesome!! I think we need more inclusivity not less. I think if you have a problem with all people feeling included and validated in programming and entertainment options.. then that is rather sad.
Banning cast members from saying "boys and girls" or calling your daughter "princess" isn't inclusive, it's just insane.

Talking about "queer stories" and "queerness"... Nobody talks like that. LGBT people don't talk like that. It's weird college-seminar language that's going to be a huge turnoff to many, many people.

As with my other post, this is I think or in other words just my little opinion. I THINK you are taking a huge leap, and using edited propaganda snippets as gospel and the rules for the new gay world order. Time for all the pearl clutching to begin. I welcome a more inclusive world.

I highly doubt that Disney will ban princesses or the word welcome to the new Bibbitit Bobboti Boutique. would you like to be green sparkly dress person... or blue sparkly dress person? LOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I don't know what to tell you, they've already done this. A cast member cannot look at your daughter and say "good morning princess" anymore because they're not allowed to assume that your daughter WANTS to be called princess.

LOL and here begins the end of American society as we know it....

And yes actually... my kid would hate being called Princess... perhaps only if it is Spider Heart Princess of Darkness and Claimer of Souls.... they are heavy into their emo goth phase right now...

Huge news- people aren’t good at estimating population! Good thing we have things like the census that tell us that racial minorities make up almost half the population, and LGBTQ are at around 8%- so that means that 50% representation would still be under population level.

Cast members aren’t calling kids in Princess dresses Princess? I’ll believe that when I see it.

I noticed my kids’preschool teacher addressing the kids as “friends” rather than “boys and girls” and talking about the parents as “your grownups” for the sake of inclusion back in 2008- and I live in the Midwest.

As a lesbian, I respectfully disagree. Plenty of my gay friends, especially those younger than me, use those terms.

I don't think I'm supposed to talk about news/politics on the DisBoards, but I can just list a few - most recent reporting by NY Times and Washington Post about "the laptop" that was supposedly "disinformation" (The story came out in summer 2020 and was never covered because it was "conspiracy")/covid-related things that are not shown to be erroneous (not getting into them all- they encompass a lot).

Yes, I was loose with my choice of words when I said "nobody."

My point is, it's generally used in small circles among young, college-educated progressives, particularly when it comes to gender issues as opposed to sexuality. If you asked random moderate mother-of-two in Ohio, she'd understand what you mean when you say you're a lesbian. If you told her you were omnigender or demigender or gendervoid, she'd look at you like you had six heads.

I'm not making a claim as to whether that's good, bad, or indifferent, but it is what it is. Disney can't survive as a niche progressive entertainment company, nor could they survive as a right wing entertainment company. They need to be squarely in the mainstream because their business model is based on volume and universal appeal.
