When we visit the World in May, we will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary.

We have not had family photos done since the kids were little - probably almost 10 years ago. So after discovering the DEP site, we booked a mini session for the Beach Club while we are there.

Our kids are older (no wasting time trying to get a toddler or baby to co-operate) so we felt the 20 minutes was plenty of time. We also liked that the flash drive was included, and no further purchase was necessary.

How was your session? How many photos did you end up with if you did the mini?

We've done it a couple of times and I'm booking another one for this year's trip, so that pretty much sums up what I think of it :)

There are two options and we are always more than happy with the $150 one (pics on my signature are from a various sessions we did) as it is more than enough for us and it includes the photo CD with all the digital images and copyright release.

If there is anything specific you want to know, feel free to ask. I have not done an enhanced session in the parks as we felt we didn't need more time (an hour is a long time to spend moving around, regrouping and posing IMO) and we have averaged between 70-85 images per session which is great value for me. I had one printed onto an A0 canvas and the resolution is very good.

My oldest DD had her senior pictures taken at the BC 3 years ago thru them and the pictures came out beautiful. We did end up booking 2 mini sessions (back-to-back) only because she wanted to change outfits, if she hadn't, one session would have been plenty. Our photographer was great and she got some very nice shots on the beach, in the garden area and even on the shipwreck slide with the lighthouse as the backdrop. We were very pleased and she ended up with a ton of photos.

Here's a question i never thought to ask....

Our booking id for 3:00 in the afternoon.

How do they deal with other people walking around the resort?

There is a super image on the website, taken on the boardwalk to the lighthouse, taken from behind the family. No other people are in sight!

Are people just super respectful? Or do they clear the way first?

They don't clear the way at all. They work around the people and try and position you in areas where there is less chance of interference. One of our shots on the Poly beach had a little Snow White, maybe 3 years old, who stepped into the background. She was so fast the photographer never noticed her. That was a 5 pm session and there were plenty of folk around but none of them feature in our photos otherwise. They also have a fairly decent lens mounted to the camera and set the camera up a lot of the time to blur the background so that you are isolated in the frame. My pics are on a flash drive at home but if you want to I can post some. I think I did post a few on the thread on the Resort Photos sub forum (I think it's a sticky) as have many other people if you want to have a look there too to get an idea.

Do you know how far in advance you can book this? I would love to get a family portait, hate to say we never had one. :(..We will be at BWV for my DD 21st bday so this will be great to do. I love the look of the boys in Khakis and us girls in white dress. I always wanted to do it but never did. So glad I seen this post:thumbsup2

They seem to be inconsistent with how far ahead you could book and at one time it was 90 days then I was told 30, but I booked well ahead of that both times with no issues. I've also booked quite close to the date (as in 2 weeks or so) and had no trouble getting a selection of times and days that suited me. The only advantage to booking ahead is that it protects you from price increases or changes to what is included and I did benefit from this on our first session. It may be worth noting that the price has not gone up for 2 years now so something to keep in mind. Also you have to pay a deposit on a credit card and they charge your card for the balance just before the session. I did notice they put a hold on the funds on the card and although that had no negative effect on me, it may for some so it's something else to keep in mind.

Having seen you around the boards I now have the opportunity to say 2 things

Thank you so much :goodvibes

Here is a link to the website http://www.disneyeventphotography.com/ You have to call to make an appointment though so you can't do that online. The hours are pretty similar to the Photopass hours IIRC but I am not 100% sure (9 am to 1 pm?) Also, some useless information but the Poly was our favorite location for a session and with all the construction going on and upcoming, I emailed them to ask how it would affect the photo shoots and they replied the same day to say the Poly is still an option but they may have to play around with the usual spots.

The cost for the mini session is $150 plus tax. The cost for the one hour session is considerably more and does not include the CD but you can purchase that separately for an additional cost.

I did our first session after someone asked for a photo of DD and I together after our 2009 trip and I discovered that having taken all the photos myself, I had 7 of us both together out of 30 days spent at WDW. I know, it's shocking. I also liked that having them done at the resorts was not too 'Disneyfied' which suited me as we now get Photopass every trip so most of our pics are very Disney.

Thanks for the kind words about the smoking. I can't offer any advice. No idea why it worked this time and not the 20 attempts before over 22 years :faint: but the fact that I worked out I was smoking away a short Disney vacation every 12 months was a sobering thought :scared1:

Thanks for all your help :thumbsup2 I am definitely going to plan a session, celebrating a BIG BD in Sept is the perfect occasion

off topic:

As far as the smoking I gave it up cold turkey Aug 2012 after 40 + years first attempt & it was all good except for the first week Had an emotional pang in Nov and picked it up again but am ready again soon Just help me by keeping that ticker on your sig ;)

Thanks :)
