Am I the only one? For the last 6 years my family has gone to Orlando for vacation. This year we decide to do something different. On Spring Break we went to Williamsburg VA. We went to Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion. Now it feels like I never had a vacation. Am I having a Disney Hangover? I'm kind of sad. Should I try to take small trip this year or plan a big trip next year?

:rotfl:

That's exactly what happened to us! After several Orlando trips we decided to go to Mexico, and found ourselves bored after a few days. Then we went to Maui, and even though its a spectacular place to visit we found ourselves wishing for Orlando. We have tried a few other places with the same results. The absolute worst is going to the amusement park in your home town and seeing how sad it is in comparison to all the world class Orlando parks.

Now we just do Orlando trips, usually with a few days on a gulf coast beach to get our beach fix in. Yes it is a hangover I guess :goodvibes but at least I never feel ripped off when I get home. Most other places I feel just like you, like I didn't REALLY get a vacation.

Small trip, big trip, whichever you can do. We go several times a year, usually 2 small trips and one big one.

We were going to switch up our spring break this year. We have done Orlando the last 7. This past year we did orlando at xmas 62 days later we returned for March Break. Now we are headed to Williamsburg va for our summer vacay. Driving from northern ontario. We have platinum passes for the SW family of parks.
We were debating doing something different for March. We have been going for a week ourselves then have teacher friends join us at the same resort for our break. I do daycare for the teachers here. We had a bbq with these friends this weekend and we all ended up deciding back to Orlando for us!! It keeps drawing us back.

I'm glad, I'm not alone. I going to have to figure it out how to get back to Orlando this year.

We have gone to Disney over 50 times since 1995 (I actually lost count). Last year we had two 4 week trips and a 2 week trip at Christmas.

At the end, I said we wouldn't be going back for quite some time. Now I'm rethinking that.

I'm so happy to hear we're not alone! we've gone to Orlando annually for the past 5 years. Last summer we decided to do something different and flew to Fort Lauderdale beach. After 2 days we were so bored that we checked out early and drove 3.5 hours to Orlando even though we had to come back to FLL for our flight back home! Then we went back to Orlando for Christmas.
And we're going again in July :goodvibes

We take 3-4 whole-family trips to WDW each year: fall break, Christmas, spring break, and summer. This past spring break, we broke with tradition and rented a house on the beach in Mexico. We absolutely loved it and will definitely return! It was a wonderful adventure...but it didn't feel like a "vacation". Thus, we're heading to WDW as soon as school gets out...this weekend!!! (Not sure if the bank balance is going to be able to handle WDW PAP's and houses in Mexico, but it will be fun while it lasts! :cool1:

We normally only do summer or spring break trips but I think we might have to go in the fall and get free dinning.

Yep we keep going back and haven't done much else since the kids came along. Several family members think we are nuts but they don't get it. Last year we went on an adult only trip to do universal but after a day and half we headed back to Disney on the tickets that I "accidentally" :rolleyes1 packed in my bag.

We love Disney and go every year (2 months tomorrow till our next trip). Alot of my work colleagues think I am crazy, but gradually more and more people I know are going and then understand. Since out last trip last August we have spent a week in Sorrento, Italy which was great. Just sun, relaxation and great food. The last week we were in Majorca which was also lovely. Both places are great but cannot compare to Disney so we dont try to. The biggest difference I find is the room. At Disney we have a 2 bedroom at Bonnet Creek. In Europe a place like that would cost £1000 a night. So we just lower our expectations.

I think it is the Orlando Area, as you drive from a long road trip or if you are coming from the airport, it just feels right, it feels like relaxation, it feels like vacation, you get excited and happiness just comes over you and I do not get that feeling anywhere else.

Should I try to take small trip this year or plan a big trip next year?

Plan a big trip. So long as I have one in the plans, I'm good. Move that trip into the "sometime" category, or more than two years out, I start comparing our other vacations to Disney and not enjoying them for what they are. For our family at least, nothing can replace Disney and Orlando. :upsidedow

I think my tolerance is stretched a bit by the fact that, as a Timesharer, I can have a pretty firm reservation a year or so out. It would be a lot harder if we stayed in motels and I would only be making reservations a few months out, because it's a lot easier for me to wait once I've got that registration in hand and the trip is a sure deal! ;)
