Disney Engagements -

I am lucky enough to have had a Disney engagement. My FDH and I have been together since 3rd grade. 14 years later we decided to take a special vacation. I planned our trip to WDW for a year. I was dead set on it being perfect. I had no idea it was coming. The only thing I knew is that my FDH had hinted that he might have a surprise for me. We flew out on a Sunday. When we arrived we had the room we had requested and everything was going perfectly. I couldn't believe how magical everything was. On Monday we got up bright and early and hit Magic Kingdom. After a day in the park we had reservations for the California Grill during the evening fireworks. After our appetizer the fireworks started. We watched from the balcony. It was fantastic. Everything was perfect. After we returned that night I was exhausted. I changed and jumped into bed. My FDH's twin brother and his girlfriend were in the next room. We were holding on to a promise ring he planned to give to her so FDH snuck it over to their room. By the time he returned I was already asleep. FDH climbed into bed and taped me on the shoulder. I vaguely remember telling him something to the effect, 'this better be important' and replied 'look at me please'. When I rolled over he was holding the most beautiful engagement ring. 'Well' he said. I was so over come. I didn't know what to say. It was amazing. I slept in the ring that night but he didn't let me have it in the parks. Instead he had brought along a plain band. He said 'Disney world is many square miles, thats a lot of ground to cover if you lose it.' :-( I was so mad at him but so happy at the same time. It was great. I later found out that FDH was going to propose in the balcony of the California Grill but got too nervous. lol
That is how we decided to have a DFTW. We thought, hey we got engaged there why not get married there.

Honestly, don't tell my DF, but I knew.

He did it on the beach at the Poly (my favorite) right before Wishes when we were there this past August. :lovestruc

Now we're going to the Poly (my first and probably only time) for our disneymoon!

I got back from disney last thursday with a surprise WDW engagement with no idea that it was coming or that he was even thinking of it as he told me to never get my hopes up before may lol and now we are starting to plan a disney wedding :)

I was engaged at WDW during my 2006 trip. We had been dating 2 years at that point. It was very nice, done at Sunset Point at the Poly. I knew he was going to do it sometime during the trip I just didn't know where. It turned out to be the wrong guy and we broke it off a couple months after. Now that I'm with the person I know I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with I don't want to know it's coming (or really even care when it's coming as I am just happy to be with him). I don't want to go ring shopping and I want to be so surprised, I don't even care if it's at Disney or what the ring looks like (although I hope it is at Disney! :) ).

Does anyone watch the Office? Well, when Jim and Pam were dating he "fake proposed" to her. We're huge Office fans and when we were staying at the Poly in July he thought it would be funny to "fake propose" a couple of times when we were in MK. One time he did it and I started screaming "YES!" Needless to say after the applause and congratulations we got from the surrounding people I don't think he'll be doing that during our trip in a week and a half! :)

DH proposed to me on the first day of our Dec 2006 trip. I had picked out my ring and he had asked my dad for permission and I talked about nothing else than him getting me a wiener dog for Christmas and how I wanted her to come running down the steps on Christmas morning with my ring around her collar. Really cheesy, but thats what I wanted. I didn't even consider disney as a place that he would propose because it seemed way to obvious. Well he had been acting funny all day the first day making sure I had my own bag (we had identical camera bags at the time) and kept looking in his and just being kind of weird in general, but I never thought anything of it since he had the heavier bag and I figured he was just checking to make sure that he had his wallet and what not.

We had dinner at CRT that night and he said he had to go to the bathroom and I hate being alone at the table for a long period of time and he was gone forever (come to find out later the manager of crt took forever to meet him at the bathroom for dh to pass the ring to him) So I was a bit annoyed when he came back, but he passed it off saying his stomach hurt and I was like fine fine and let it drop. Then the fairy God mother came out and asked if anybody was celebrating anything special and I thought to myself well if he was gonna do it he'd do it now. I wasn't really disappointed b/c I hadn't really expected it at disney anyways. Went on eating my dinner and having a good time. Well then my dessert comes out and he dosen't get one and mine is covered...I'm thinking why is this covered because nothing else was covered and also where is his? So I go to take the lid off and he shouts NO! and runs around the table and hops down on one knee before I even knew what was going on and I screamed, Oh my God! and started balling my eyes out and he asked me to marry him. There was a photo pass person there snapping away. Come to find out he had payed for the engagement package at CRT and had had this planned for months. When he lifted the lid I saw a glass slipper with my ring inside it. So amazing! He even had the slipper engraved...it said will you be my princess and then it had the date inside it. I was shocked and couldn't believe it, but it was perfect! Cinderella is my fave so it was only appropriate that we were engaged in her castle. We didn't have a disney wedding, but I had a subtle cinderella theme july 19th of this year and it was amazing and we had a four day disney cruise on the wonder for our honeymoon! :goodvibes Hang in there...don't think about it so much it'll happen when it happens. Being surprised when it does is half the fun!

me too thats how my disney DFI proposed last week its so unexpected :)
