Disney Engagements -

Lol, did you have to do the quote!

Make why cry why don't you!!!

What a lucky girl your soon-to-be fiance is!

I don't know why, but the quote seemed like a good idea at the time :D I am supposed to be working but since it's quiet, I am just reading as many proposal stories i can so i can get some inspiration.

I dont suppose you know if this is possible or not, but since it is just me and my gf ging we wont have anyone to 'capture the moment' so to speak. Do you know if Disney can arrange for a photopass photographer or CM to be in a certain place at a certain time???

I have read of a fe people having CM's in on the act, so I'm sure at the very least you'd be able to slip them your camera!! :)

I think I will sneak away on check in day when she is unpacking her things to go and speak with the front desk and see if they can put me in touch with the right people to ask. I am sure cm's get asked this type of stuff all the time.

So you are going to DLP then, are you excited about it? We have only stayed in the Disneyland hotel once but it was very very nice. I especially liked the breakfast buffet ;)

Yeah, I Looooove DLP!! And am SO excited about staying at the Disneyland Hotel! Can't believe I'll be sleeping above Mainstreet!

I've always dreamt of staying there, so it'll be a really magical trip (it better be as 3 nights there are is the same price as a week at the GF!) Lol.

Jack's never ben to WDW (and I havent for years!)and I'd love to go, but Tokyo DisneySea is the next on our list of disney trips so his first WDW will (hopefully) be our planning trip!!

It is a very nice hotel, we got confused trying to find the entrance when we stayed there though, nearly went through the turnstiles with out luggage :lmao:

My mother wants to take my youngest brother and sister to DLP in February 09, they would like me to go but I am debating it because I am going for 14nights on 2 Dec to Orlando. Price wise, 3 nights at DLP is the same as 11 nights at CSR!

I have never really looked at any other Disney parks/resorts other than Paris and Orlando, you will have to share how it was when you eventually go :)

Cool, will do. Tokyo looks absolutely out of this world, and the california park is amazing too.

As it stands paris is my favourite at the moment though. :)

Don;t worry, I'm not one to skimp on trip reports!! So any trip I go on will definitely be well documented!!!

Cool, will look forward to reading it then. We didnt do one last year but she will defo want to do it this year. I'll let you know how it all went.

ok so i sort of mentioned my hopes for my dec trip to my DBF because he asked yesterday. Long story short, he says it is too soon to propose and that he doesn't want to do it when I'm expecting it. I tried to explain that it is only three years away lol and that I wouldn't know when or how he was going to do it. I still have my fingers crossed and I hope he is just trying to get me off the mark. Maybe some crazy reverse psychology?!

Lol, maybe he is.

I daren't mention my hopes to jack incase he ws gonna and then changes his mind in case im expecting it!!

That's probably the best thing to do. Just wait patiently and it will happen. I know it scares me a bit every time I think about it, maybe it is the same for them? Is it worth me creating a thread for brainstorming help or can any of you ladies give me some advice or suggestions? Not wanting to steal other peoples ideas, just looking for inspiration :)

I recon if you started your own thread people would be really eager to help with suggestions/stories!! :)

Is this section of the forum the best place? I dont know how many people frequent this section.

Or any other type.....

Did you know yours was coming?

I thought it was comming, but had no clue when or where. In fact, I thought he would do it at the castle on our trip, but turns out he couldn't wait that long.

I included the story, because I couldn't have wished for more perfect a proposal. And when was a complete surprise!

So a Monday in July we decided to take our date night to Nantasket Beach, because the weather guy said it was the best night of the week. We head down, chit chating about the week and our busyiness. We got there and decided on a resturant, the Red Parrot, and had a great meal.

Then we headed for the carousel that they had there. It was awesome and was painted beautifully. It dated back to the early 1900's. They even had the carousel music playing. It was great. The sun was setting and we could see the orange sunset.

I always tell him to make wishes on stars, so his proposal focused on that, when he asked "you know what I wish for?" and when I replied "what?", and I said "The same thing I always wish for: happily ever after, Will you marry me?" as he pulled out the ring.

Had you hinted it would be the most magical engagement for you?

Nope. I had not even imagined my proposal to be that magical.

Now we are celebrating at Disney, which will be exciting!

I really hope its my turn soon....

Jack asks me frequently about 'if' he were to get me right which one would I like, etc.etc.

And we're staying at the best, most romantic perfect hotel on our upcoming Disney Paris trip.....

But I worry he thinks its too obvious, or that I've made the mistake of mentioining how wonderful it would be and telling him about the disney-gagements on here.

I hope I haven't jinxed myself!!!!

My fiance knew how much it meant to me to get engaged at WDW. He's a really private person, but he knew how much I wanted to get engaged at a public place. We planned a last-minute trip to WDW in June, and on the first night he took me to Narcoosee's for a romantic dinner. I knew he was going to ask me, I just didn't know how. After we finished watching Wishes, he asked me to stay outside with him for a minute while everyone else went back into the restaurant. He got down on one knee and asked if I would make all his wishes come true! I told him absolutely, and everyone inside the restaurant began tapping on the windows and waving at us. When we went back inside, everyone started clapping! Our waiter even brought us a complimentary desert that said congratulations written in chocolate. Everyone was so nice and congratulated us during the remainder of our dinner (although both of us were too nervous to eat!).

Before we left to go to WDW, I kept picturing the most elaborate proposal I could, but then I realized it doesn't matter how he asks me, AS LONG AS HE ASKS!!! In the end, I couldn't imagine anything better than how he asked me!

Whatever happens, I'm sure it will be so romantic. Good luck! Let us know how everything turns out!

I really hope its my turn soon....

I think I must have been more surprised by an engagement than anyone else on Earth!

I've known my fiancee for almost 5 years (My company is a client of his video production studio!), but we have only been dating since June 2006. When we met, I knew he had a girlfriend that he had lived with for a long time (several years by the time we met). They never got married, so I just figured they were the kind of people that didn't feel the need to "make it legal". In Spring 2006, we were out with some friends (our business relationship had become a friendship) and he mentioned that he was going to get his own place because his relationship wasn't really going anywhere. So, like, a minute later we were dating. I knew he was fresh post-breakup and I had been through a divorce a few years earlier, so we started out very casual. But as time went by, we were having so much fun, and before we knew it we had been dating over a year. Our relationship became more serious, but I still had him pegged as a perpetual bachelor. And knowing that he had lived with a girl sooooo long and never proposed - I was NOT ABOUT to mention the "M" word.

So, last Christmas, I invited him to come along on my traditional Christmas at Disney trip. It's something that I do with my son about every other year. We had an awesome time! When we came home, we were pretty much inseparable and made the decision to move in together.

Our lives became hectic and we were quickly whining to each other about needing another vacation. As luck would have it, Disney released the fall "free dining" discount right before his birthday in April. So I took a deep breath, bought us a couple of plane tickets, and put a deposit on the resort. For his birthday, I bought a book called "The Grown Ups Guide to Walt Disney World" and slipped the reservations inside. How tacky of me to buy him a birthday gift that was so completely self-serving!? But he LOVED it!!! He was so excited! He called everybody we knew to tell them about it and we spent the rest of the weekend making dining reservations and tour reservations.

Things took a crazy turn in July when Brian was diagnosed with cancer very unexpectedly. He had to have radical surgery right away. It was scheduled for August 4th, exactly one month before we were scheduled to go to Disney. We mentioned the trip to Brian's surgeon who INSISTED that we keep the reservations and make the trip. He assured us that Brian would be in great shape to go and the timing worked perfectly because he wouldn't be able to begin chemotherapy treatments until 6 weeks post-op anyway. Brian is so determined and he pushed himself to recover quickly. His doctor said that each day he was making two days worth of progress. It was amazing!

So about a week before we were supposed to go, a bunch of tropical storms and hurricanes came one right after another, Gustav, Hanna, Ike, and it appeared all-but-certain that our trip just wasn't going to happen. I was getting very depressed. Lucky for us, Hanna stalled in the ocean, and didn't bother us at all. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever seen more perfect weather in Florida as I saw the day we arrived on September 4th.

When we checked into our resort, we changed into clothes for a portrait session that I had scheduled for us at the Yacht and Beach Club resort. Brian told me that he knew I had other plans in mind, but could we please go over to the Magic Kingdom and get our photo made in front of the castle. For all we knew, the weather could be really bad the rest of the week. How could I say no to that?

So we got to MK only to realize that it was just about time for the 3:00 parade. There were people lined up on both sides of the street. I asked the photographer if it was too late to have our photo made and she said she'd be happy to take our photo. So I started to pose when Brian ran off suddenly and started whispering in the photographer's ear. Next thing I knew he was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. I was SHOCKED!!! We never discussed marriage or getting engaged or anything like that!

He told me that it's something he had planned ever since I gave him the itinerary on his birthday! Needless to say, the rest of the trip was amazing! It took a few days for reality to set in. It was very very surreal.

I told him that there was no way that he was getting out of this without wearing a Mickey Mouse top hat - assuming our Honeymoon would be at Disney. But, he quickly started talking about having a wedding at Disney in the Wedding Pavilion. He insists that it shouldn't be done any other way.

Am I the luckiest girl in the world, or what?!?!

I certainly do hope that your turn is soon . . . But, I also hope that it's a complete surprise and doesn't happen in a way that you're expecting. Best wishes for a magical proposal :-)

DH proposed to me on the first day of our Dec 2006 trip. I had picked out my ring and he had asked my dad for permission and I talked about nothing else than him getting me a wiener dog for Christmas and how I wanted her to come running down the steps on Christmas morning with my ring around her collar. Really cheesy, but thats what I wanted. I didn't even consider disney as a place that he would propose because it seemed way to obvious. Well he had been acting funny all day the first day making sure I had my own bag (we had identical camera bags at the time) and kept looking in his and just being kind of weird in general, but I never thought anything of it since he had the heavier bag and I figured he was just checking to make sure that he had his wallet and what not.

We had dinner at CRT that night and he said he had to go to the bathroom and I hate being alone at the table for a long period of time and he was gone forever (come to find out later the manager of crt took forever to meet him at the bathroom for dh to pass the ring to him) So I was a bit annoyed when he came back, but he passed it off saying his stomach hurt and I was like fine fine and let it drop. Then the fairy God mother came out and asked if anybody was celebrating anything special and I thought to myself well if he was gonna do it he'd do it now. I wasn't really disappointed b/c I hadn't really expected it at disney anyways. Went on eating my dinner and having a good time. Well then my dessert comes out and he dosen't get one and mine is covered...I'm thinking why is this covered because nothing else was covered and also where is his? So I go to take the lid off and he shouts NO! and runs around the table and hops down on one knee before I even knew what was going on and I screamed, Oh my God! and started balling my eyes out and he asked me to marry him. There was a photo pass person there snapping away. Come to find out he had payed for the engagement package at CRT and had had this planned for months. When he lifted the lid I saw a glass slipper with my ring inside it. So amazing! He even had the slipper engraved...it said will you be my princess and then it had the date inside it. I was shocked and couldn't believe it, but it was perfect! Cinderella is my fave so it was only appropriate that we were engaged in her castle. We didn't have a disney wedding, but I had a subtle cinderella theme july 19th of this year and it was amazing and we had a four day disney cruise on the wonder for our honeymoon! :goodvibes Hang in there...don't think about it so much it'll happen when it happens. Being surprised when it does is half the fun!

You probably know my engagement story anyway, but I shall tell it again because I'm feeling soppy....!

It was our two year anniversary. I can't remember why, but Robert could only get a half day off work. I felt a bit funny that day, so I think I must have had an inkling what was going to happen (We had been talking a lot about marriage recently). I drove to Morpeth to pick him up from work. Once he hopped in the car, he asked if we could go down to the river in Warkworth (The Village next to where we live). Its a bit of a standing joke with us because on our first date we spent all day sat on a bench near a pond in the park (We couldn't afford to do anything else!)..... So we always head to a bench near a body of water when we feel a bit soppy... Just to sit and remember that first date.... :lovestruc We got to the river and it was a lovely day:

We sat on a bench further down, and after a few minutes he simply said: "I really really love you. Will you marry me?" He didn't have a ring, so he took the diamond ring he'd bought me for Christmas off my other hand and placed it on my wedding finger.... (He wanted me to pick my ring so it was definately the right one)..... I said yes, of course!! A couple then walked past us with their dog, and the woman smiled at me as she'd obviously heard what was going on!!

This is the bench (I know its not as grand as some of the places people have been proposed to, but I love it!):

We then wandered back to the car and then began ringing people.... (I will admit to being miffed that Robert's Dad told his Mum before we could get hold of her at work!).... Then we drove back home and had a Chinese later that night...... Its not super fancy, but it was perfect.... :lovestruc

I had an idea my proposal was coming. That's a lie, I knew, haha. But DF still tried to catch me off guard and in the end he succeeded. He proposed during dinner at CRT on the second night of our trip last July. The whole looooooongggg story is on the first page of my PJ if you want to hear all the details. It was truly magical! Although whenever I retell the story I always tell people that I have no idea what he even said when he asked, I don't even know what I said. I was just crying and so overcome with joy. I must have said yes at some point!

And just a quick word for all of the hopeful girls out there that your proposal is coming soon, just be patient and your magical day will come! It seems like an eternity ago, but DF and I met in 1999 when we were both freshman in college. We dated for 7 years before we were engaged. We both grew up so much in that time, and changed quite a bit, but in many ways we grew together so although it was not always easy or certain what our future would bring, it has all lead to a very happy ever after.
