I have two options. May or September.

I hear the crowds are medium in may and light in september

But i also heard it rains a lot less in may and september is crazy hot and rains a bunch.

No budget restrictions, which month would you choose and why

May! I find the crowds to manageable in late may/early June, so middle May would be ideal.

For me, I just try to avoid free dining at all costs! Is May better for that? I don't know when free dining is offered anymore, but that is what I think of in September. :).

Less hurricanes in May!

May is beautiful in Disney. This is our first year not going in May, and I'm going to miss the low crowds and gorgeous blend of weather.

September is a better month IMHO

not as hot, still warm enough for the pools, fewer kids in the parks.

Do both and did both this year. This year we went the Thursday before Memorial Day through the Thurs after. First Thursday was great but it got crowded more and more each day after and was packed the week of Memorial Day. I would go back in a heartbeat early or middle of month. Been mid September through the end and have been very happy with crowds. It can get hot and there can be rain but we've been going for 8 years and have actually had very little rain.

Either can be hot. If there is Free Dining in Sept that can be a perk if you want it or a curse if you are trying to book Table Service. It would really depend on when in May for me to make a choice of which is better time to go. As long as not end of month I would lean to May.

September we love the Halloween Party, Free Dining and if end of month into Oct hitting Food & Wine.

May if timed right, low crowds, lots of sunshine, EPCOT Flower & Garden and Star Wars Weekends.

I really like early to Mid May. The weather is gorgeous and the crowds are very manageable.

thank you all. Is mid may good for water parks? I remember going in april and hitting the WP's.

The only thing we are going to miss is halloween, which is why were going to be going (at least one reason)

But the biggest perk is the EMH. I know the latest you can stay in sept and oct is midnight but you have to pay for MNSSHP.

Anyone know the latest hours in May?

I don't think I have ever done May, but I love September. If you plan it right, you can get MNSSHP and EPCOT Food and Wine. Sometimes the weather is muggy, but it's Florida. I expect muggy.

No budget restrictions I'd choose both! Lol, but seriously.
I love travelling in both times, May does bring the flower and garden festival, and star wars weekend, crowds are light, and weather is great, we've never experienced too much rain or crowds this time of year!

Sept however, will ALWAYS win for me! It has the halloween festivities, MNSSHP and the like and that's the best party of the year, and well worth the little bit of extra cost. Free dining is a great promotion, saved us nearly $1000 last Sept! The heat is worse, the humidity is worse, but I love that lol! Rain is more frequent, but it is Florida, it rains for something like 20 minutes and then is done!

My choice, I'd go September!å

We actually do both early May and September each year. Both are great. Early May is just a bit more crowded, but not unmanageable.

the only thing killing me is halloween. but is the MK the only place decorated for halloween?

This is our plan for 2015 :thumbsup2

I wanted to go on my birthday, but if we go in late September, we'll be able to hit up Food & Wine plus MNSSHP.

I've read crowds are a 2-3 throughout September and they were estimated at a 7-8 when we were there last week - so a crowd level of 2 sounds absolutely fabulous!

I love WDW in May! Perfect weather IMO and Epcot has the Flower and Garden festival!

MAY!! Absolutely hands down. :thumbsup2

(I'm trying to keep the crowds low during my beloved September).;)

I've done both. We greatly prefer September, although with free dining promotions, the September crowds have swollen every year. The last MNSSHP we attended was nearly intolerable. Weather wise, it's always been hot, sweltering hot, but very little rain. To me, the fall decorations just make the park more festive. I missed them very much in May, when everything but EPCOT is generic.

In mid-May the crowds were quite sparse, but parks still close fairly early. During the same week we froze, as in sweatshirts and jeans required at night and too chilly to swim, and melted by the end of the week.

I vote for September. Most of my trips have been during that month. This year I was there from August 31 through Sept. 11. The crowds were perfect (even over Labor Day). With EMH, the MK was open until 3am at least once. I also attended the first MNSSHP of the season, and it was fantastic (also my first time).

The only slight problem in September can be refurbs. Jungle Cruise was closed the entire time. Space Mtn., Spaceship Earth and others were closed part of my trip. But proper planning allowed me to enjoy all of those. Both water parks were fully operational.

Weather was warm, and there was a little rain. But it was nowhere near as hot or rainy as August. All in all, I've been to WDW four times in September, and once each in Aug, Oct & Nov. I like September a lot.

My mom and I used to go around Mother's Day every year. Weather was typically around 90, very little rain. Crowds weren't bad. Loved the Flower & Garden Festival.

Have not been in May, but have gone in late September. Waaaay too hot and humid for me. Plus September is during Hurricane season, so you can get lots of rain.

If heat and humidity don't bother you, September would be fine. Crowds are definitely good! For me, though, it's a "no go" due to the weather.
