Disney drivers

From Central Missouri to WDW 1131 miles I think my best time is about 17 hours. Its normally just me although once a year I have my daughter with me. I only do NASCAR style pit stops for fuel and restroom, I keep food and drinks in a cooler in the car.

It once took us almost 20 minutes to get to Animal Kingdom. Traffic on 192 was horrible. Thank goodness not to many people know about getting off 192 on Black Lake Road and taking that to Sherberth for the back way into DAK. :rotfl:

Sorry, had to say it.

On a more serious note, at least once a year, we have to drive to Glendale/Springdale/Fairfield OH (near you Scuba?) to visit my Mother and my other sibs who still live up there. We do the exact opposite. Travel north on 75, stop in Dalton, (kids love the Outback there, wife loves the mall) and make a quick pitstop usually around Berea KY for gas and motor the rest of the way into Cincy. Best time so far was 15.5 hours. I swear my daughter has a bladder the size of a small squirrel. :confused3

Yep, quite close.....have very good friends in Fairfield near Mercy Fairfield Hospital. Because we are campers at heart I spend ALOT of time at the Fairfield Bass Pro shops, maybe more time than my wife wants but yes we live quite close to Fairfield. Since you are familiar with the area I live near Kings Island. We are divers at the Newport Aquarium.

Had a season pass to Kings Island from the time I was 14 (payed $27.50 for it) til I moved to Florida when I was 23. My wife works at DAK and after spending so much time at Disney when we took the kids to Kings Island one summer trip it just wasn't like I remembered. They loved, The Beast and Diamond Back but they just kept comparing it to Disney. The biggest shocker to me was the $60.00+ I dropped for one Larosa's Large Pizza, 2 slices extra and 5 drinks.

On a side note, my sister lives right behind Mercy Fairfield in Wildwood. It is a small world after all. :thumbsup2

I have not been to the Newport Aquarium yet, but my nephew who lives in Maineville says his kids love it.

Thats funny, you have family far closer to me then we first thought. I live in Lebanon and at one time we lived in Landen.

as far as Kings Island goes, I have become increasingly disappointed with the park. As you might know, Kings Island is owned by Cedar fair entertainment. Now Cedar Point just keeps getting better and better when Kings Island...well not so much. Kings Island is going to have a new Coaster next year called the banshee and it apparently is going to be a record breaker but I have yet to even ride the Diamond back seeing we seldom leave the kids area. There are times where we go to Kings Island, spend an hour in line for the beast, get hungry and stop in for lunch and before we know it we have been at the park for 4 hours, rode one ride and spent $100.00. baffling.

Making the drive tomorrow morning from Mount Pleasant, SC. Woo Hoo! :cheer2: 406 miles from our house to the Polynesian. Usually takes 6-6.5 hours, including a short bathroom stop, and a longer (20 min) stop to grab brunch/lunch. I hope to be pulling out of the driveway at 6am so we can be pulling up at the Poly no later than 12:30 tomorrow! When the kids ask how long it takes I tell them they get to watch 3 movies. Thank goodness for the in car DVD player. I don't know how my parents survived family car trips with my sister and I with out them.

With normal traffic, it takes us 9.5 hours to get Home.

Spring Break traffic has made the drive last 12 hours. :(

One Spring Break visit, it was white knuckle driving to and from WDW as soon as we got on I95 or I4. Going home, as soon as we got on I4 it was bumper to bumper traffic. Horrible to go from WDW bliss to suddenly having to deal with the traffic...

Our kids are excellent travelers who don't have to stop as much as one would think and they do well amusing themselves on the trip. They do have the advantages of having iPods, Kindles, and laptops that I did not have going to WDW as a kid. :) I can remember being bored out of my mind watching the endless citrus groves. Sadly, the groves are all gone...

Later,
Dan
