DISNEY DREAMING! A Nov/Dec 2010 PTR *12/9 ~ Hello Again!

I know...too fast

Yes free stuff could be enticing and also we found that when we went the first time, we wore our first timer badges all the time and we noticed that we were picked to sit at the front of alot of the rides, a little bit more incentive there perhaps :)

I think if it happened to them once, they might start flashing the darn things at anyone who would look. :rotfl:

My mission today was to get my next update mostly written up. I was derailed by a double episode of Hell's Kitchen. (sorry!)

So whilst I continue on with that, how's about a little fun to tide you over? In honour of the double episode I watched tonite, here's a double episode of.....

:wizard: Wonderful World of Disney Trivia :wizard:

::MickeyMo What characters are now referred to by Disney as "The Fabulous Five"?

::MickeyMo In the animated film The Little Mermaid, what song does Sebastian sing to set a romantic mood for Ariel and Prince Eric?

::MickeyMo In Beauty and the Beast, what was the Beast's "only window to the outside world"?

::MickeyMo At what Disney attraction can one hear the song "How Do You Do?"

::MickeyMo In what Disney film do they host a tea party on the ceiling?

::MickeyMo What is the name of the water tower at Hollywood Studios in Florida?

Good luck!

I don't want to rush the summer by or anything, but come on November! :rotfl:

:welcome: Your not too late at all! Catching up is easy and I'm just getting to the good stuff. You've picked a great time of year to go for your first trip! Took me five tries... :rotfl: Hope our paths get to cross :thumbsup2

So, our arrival day should have us rested and relaxed. An easy afternoon flight, a leisure check-in hopefully to a refurbed room, collecting buttons, and wandering of the resort.

2009_0815pics0138.jpg

Bags unpacked, counter service dinner at Everything Pop, maybe some arcade games and off for souvenir shopping and room snackies at Walmart. Maybe I should look into a Pop fridge swap. Am I too late for November? Adding that to my list.

The next morning is our first park day. Each vacation we’ve gone to the same park first. I wasn’t trying to start a tradition or anything, it’s just what I automatically defaulted to each time it was time to start planning. Of course, I’m talking about…..

Day One

MAGIC KINGDOM
Park Hours: 9am – 7pm
Sunday, November 28th

This is a pretty big day for us, so I’m breaking it down into two updates. This is the day we’ve bought tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! :santa: I found a whole plethora of information for the party, so I’ll cover that in my next update.

If you read my last TR, you just might remember that my family are not really morning people. We’ve never been to a single rope drop or seen an opening show. We much prefer to sleep in and take our time easing into our days. ::yes:: We also don’t really care for breakfast first thing in the morning, so the perfect time for us for breakfast ADRs is 10:00am.

When my ADR booking window was approaching, I asked the kids what one single meal they wanted to have for this trip. Unanimously it was ‘Ohana.

2009_0820pics0033.jpg

We’ve been to ‘Ohana every trip. It’s definitely our families’ favorite. Yummy juice, beautiful surroundings, fabulous memories and great food. The look of joy on Ariana’s face as she’s marching with maracas in the parade with Lilo and Stitch to the tune of one of her favorite Disney songs is absolutely priceless. Alex has always thought Stitch is pretty cool and he loves the Poly.

Demetri loves to pretend to be a puppy when its Pluto’s turn to visit and Pluto never fails to have fun with him.

2008_0826Disney20058-1.jpg

So, on our first MK day, we have a 10:00am ‘Ohana breakfast scheduled. Woo-hoo! After breakfast we’ll check out all the Polynesian has to offer for Christmas decorations and do some more wandering. I also want to familiarize myself with where Captain Cook’s is for something later in the trip. ;) Then it’s off to the monorail and over to Magic Kingdom.

Our ‘theme’ for our last trip was the ‘stop and smell the roses’ if you will kind of mentality. It was all about relaxation and just doing what we wanted to do, whenever. We just ignored the Times Guide, started in Fantasyland and headed towards Tomorrowland going in a circle around the park. In doing this, a lot of things we’d wanted to do in Adventureland and Frontierland had finished for the day by the time we made it around. Our second MK day was washed out so there are a lot of ‘firsts’ for us still to do.

So this year, after we pick up Ariana’s Guest Assistance Card and stroll down Main Street, my objective is to again start in Fantasyland (Ariana’s favorite place on the planet Earth) and then head towards Liberty Square circling the park. Demetri’s favorite ride is Splash Mountain so he’ll have no objections to getting there much sooner than last year I’m sure. :thumbsup2

My hodge podge of notes for Magic Kingdom. In no particular order, things we’ve never done before:

  • Have a Dole Whip - still never had one!
  • Find the wishing well on the path to the right of the castle.
  • Look for Tinkerbell in the keyhole in the sewing drawer next to the door at the front of Tink’s shop.
  • Go to Tom Sawyer Island – never been!
  • Find Cinderella’s horse on the Carousel. Second horse in with a gold ribbon on its tail.
  • Meet Tiana and Naveen, Ariel and Eric, Woody and Jessie.
  • Dance at Club 626.
  • See Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial on their new stage.
  • Take pictures on the bench w/Goofy in front of City Hall and w/Roy & Minnie in the courtyard.
  • Find and listen to the wall mounted telephone next to the cash register in the General Store.
  • Ride Jungle Cruise at night!
  • Take pictures of Walt’s two windows and the Disney family coat of arms.
  • Ride the Liberty Square Riverboat.

Something else we’ve never taken advantage of is PhotoPass. I’d like to change that this year, so I found maps of the PhotoPass locations in the parks:

  • Main Entrance/Train Station
  • Town Square
  • Main Street USA
  • Castle Hub
  • Adventureland (between Swiss Family Treehouse and Jungle Cruise)
  • Frontierland (by the Country Bear Jamboree)
  • Ariel’s Grotto (closed)
  • Mickey’s Toontown Fair (will be closed before I get there)
  • Tomorrowland (by the Carousel of Progress)

I really, really, really want the fun PhotoPass pictures. The ones were Baby Simba appears in your arms, or Tink in your hand, or Stitch coming out of the ground, or holding the balloons, and so on. Especially Ariana holding Baby Simba. If you’ve read my TR, you know the significance of Ariana and Baby Simba. :cloud9: She won’t understand why we’ll want her to hold her arms a certain way and it might be a challenge getting the right shot….but that one I HAVE to have.

Our lunch will be a late one since we had the mid morning breakfast. It’ll be counter service and another first I’m hoping to try is upstairs at the Columbia Harbour House. I’d really wanted to try it last trip and George almost went for it, but he’s a creature of habit sometimes and wanted to go with what he knew he liked at Cosmic Ray’s.

I also want to make sure to get Kathryn a lanyard and starter pins for pin trading. I think she’d have a blast trading for pins and probably will get a competition of some sort going with Alex to see who gets the better ones. Alex usually picks a theme for pins and runs with it, so it’ll be fun to see what they do.

In amidst all that is the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade, a refurbed Space Mountain to ride and another thing we haven’t seen yet, the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party. Not to mention, all the MK Christmas decorations to see, but I’ll cover that in my MVMCP update.

Whew! I’m tired already and this portion of our day ends at 7pm!

So, what do you think? Any suggestions, hints, tips?

So, what do you think? Any suggestions, hints, tips?

That sounds like a fun and busy day! Refresh my memory. Is this the 27th or the 28th? We are going to be at MK on Sunday the 28th and am trying to figure out if we are meshing up! We love to do Fantasyland first! there are so many fun rides to experience in there! My kids are majorly morning people, so we can leave you a spot on the carousel if you'd like! ;)

I am trying to decide if we should get into pin trading this trip... Does Demetri pin trade? How much do you invest in a starter set? You guys have far more packed into your day than we do it sounds like!

Here are my hodge podge comments for your hodge podge notes: :teeth:

I think your plans sound great! I can't believe you've never been to a rope drop!;) Tom Sawyer Island is fun but beware of the caves! Some of them are a verrry tight squeeze, not to mention DARK! Still fun though. I'm going to talk about it in my next TR update actually so stay tuned. ;)

You are going to love MVMCP. It is such a blast and if it doesn't get you into the Christmas spirit nothing will! LOL.

I have yet to try a dole whip either and I think I may have to meet Prince Eric and Ariel too. That would be awesome!

I went back and edited the update, adding the date. :thumbsup2 It's Sunday the 28th! Sounds like we'll either be trailing behind you most of the day one way, or we'll bump into you going the other way! Yes please place a reserved sign on Cinderella's horse for us, will you? :rotfl:

Demetri does pin trade and he has fun with it but I think it will be better for him this year if Alex and Kathryn make sort of a game out of it. He's so anxious to go on all the rides that he'd easily forget to do it. I can't remember how much the starter kits go for, but I want to say around $15?

 We like our sleep too much and we like staying out a bit later at night. If we did rope drop and late nights, we'd be verrrrry grumpy. :headache: Especially George.... man he's a grumpy gills when he's tired!

Good to know about the caves. :thumbsup2 That's important for Ariana and Demetri.

I can't wait for MVMCP! I think it's what I'm most looking forward to.

YOU haven't had a dole whip? It's on your list for your August trip... right?

Since Sunday is the day of our resort switch, I am not sure that we'll be rope dropping -- although, you know I will be itching to do so! Our goal is to never fully unpack at Pop so it should make the move go more smoothly!

I'll be sure to get that horse sign ready for your crew!

Your plans look great!:thumbsup2 MK is definitely the perfect way to start a trip especially with a first-timer in your group.;)

And Ohana's too!:lovestruc We love Ohana's! I missed not going there in April but I couldn't squeeze it in.:sad2:
I remember those pics! So cute! I love that one with Demetri and Pluto!

I still haven't had a Dole Whip either. I keep saying I'm going to try one each trip but never get to! Those darn Mickey bars get me every time!:rotfl: I hope you make it to Tom Sawyer Island. It looks like it would be so much fun! We'll make it there one of these times....:rolleyes1

Great idea on finding out exactly where the photopass photographers are located!:thumbsup2 I should have printed something out because for some reason whenever we wanted to get a picture we could never find them...well except on Main Street. So, apparently we weren't looking in the right places.:confused3 Oh and make sure and ask if they don't offer the special shots. I think some photographers do them and some don't.

Can't wait for your MVMCP update!popcorn::

Well when you get the day planned out, let's see if we can squeeze a DIS meet in there somewhere, it'd be fun! Good idea about not really unpacking... use those carry ons as best you can. :thumbsup2

Day 1 looks busy and really fun-filled!:woohoo: Looking forward to the rest of your plans.popcorn::

There's the balance to aim for.... busy and fun! We were short changed out of MK time last trip because of the rain day so I'm really hoping the weather co-operates with us and we don't have to worry about saving something until later in the trip. I planned extra MK days this time. :thumbsup2

A part of me keeps forgetting about the Christmas decorations that will be up all over the parks. (How I could possibly forget I have NO idea!) I picture what Kathryn is going to be seeing for the first time and it always takes me a second to add in the decorations to my mental image. I love our first day!

I've actually scheduled myself in for a dole whip this trip! That's coming up later but if for some reason I STILL haven't tried one on this first MK day..... I WILL have one down the road. Oh yes. I will.

Oh I forgot! I did find out which locations do certain shots and I'll for sure be asking them. :thumbsup2 For the most part, I think that's why we really haven't done PhotoPass pictures up until now. We just haven't stopped to look for them. Except at the Hub, I always see them there.
