DISNEY DREAMING! A Nov/Dec 2010 PTR *12/9 ~ Hello Again!

Like I said on facebook, I thought of you when I heard about it on the news! YIKES!!!

We had a few in NJ when I was a kid, I only ever felt 1. When I was a teenager and I was in my room, the stuff on the shelf started to shake and as soon as it started it stopped again!

I want to know what is with SW fare lately?! That's crazy!! The fares for Oct went up a lot right after I bought the tickets but have gone back down. The fares from Dec were a lot more then I thought they'd be!

Thanks... I've never felt one and I really hope I never do!

Hopefully the SW fares are going to drop again. I mean, if I wanted to take a 1 or a 2 stop flight and spend four or five hours in the airplane, the fares are cheap. Uhm... no!

They said that around 5'ish PM here in Cincinnati people felt it. I live about 20 mins north of the city and I didn't feel anything. At that time, I was inside my school watching--Toy Story 2 with my kiddos and none of mentioned shaking so I guess it was hit and miss around here!

Well I'm glad you didn't have to interrupt watching Toy Story 2! I'm thankful Demetri especially didn't know it'd happened. He hasn't mentioned it since.

WOW!! I am glad that everyone is safe!! Earthquakes are scary things!!! I experience a couple in Alaska!!!!

I didn't feel it here but we've had our share of earthquakes recently.

I saw TS3 on Saturday. It was not pretty for anyone around me.

Hi Tracy! It's been a while since I checked in to your PTR....for getting the flights booked...for higher prices than you expected...for shopping at the Disney store!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that lower airfares and PIN codes come your way!

We definitely felt the earthquake at my office (in Waterloo) but the rest of my family didn't. For us it was more of a swaying sensation than shaking - one of my colleagues thought she was about to faint before realizing that the rest of us felt it too

Hello! I'm still annoyed at SW. They had a birthday sale that ended, or is ending today, not sure. Anyways they were supposed to have drastically reduced flights.... just not when I'm going.

Thanks I wondered if any aftershocks would come thru but if they did... I didn't feel those either.

My goodness it's been awhile since I updated hasn't it. I have been planning. Honest! I even made a minor change to an ADR.

I'm a list girl, have been as long as I can remember. New Year's resolutions, favorite songs, favorite books, back to school shopping, Christmas lists... on and on. My Mom used to say I had lists to keep track of my lists!

Anyway, lately I've been a bit overwhelmed with all the notes I have to myself everywhere. Notes from TR's, other planning threads, books, etc... so I've been combining all my scribbles into my main planning book sorted by arrival day, parks, DTD and resort hopping. Soon I'll be in a place where I can start detailing all my days and my notes here in my PTR.

I'm on vacation this week so I've gotten a bit more time lately to do all this, but not a whole lot.... we're still working on the basement. It's coming along really well!

Yep we made the plunge, I'm waiting for word back on if we got the rental house. I'm bummed we won't be on property, but hey I'm going to WDW, and I won't be as stressed about DS food issues.

Mmmm, I'm curious about getting a rental property, you'll have to give me more details when you're all set. George has hinted a few times he'd like to look into that more.

Free Dining! .... mostly

Well, it happened. Earlier then I was hoping, but it happened. Free dining was extended!





This week I'm on vacation, but before I left work I committed to doing a particular task today from home. When I'm at home working, I'm connected to our servers, etc and when I'm connected, certain websites... aka Facebook... are blocked. So around lunchtime, I take a break from work. I log off from the servers and hop onto Facebook.


Literally the first thing I see is a status update from "Disney by the Numbers" saying the free dining has been extended into December!





I jumped in my seat and yelled, "what?!?" (thankfully no one heard me ) and I hopped onto the Disney website. Huh? It wasn't showing the extended dates. Time to hop onto the DIS. Right away I see Angie's post that she saw the same thing so again I'm doing my happy dance.


So I grab my planning book and the phone, head to a quiet place in the house (George is still jack-hammering in the basement so that was tough to find!) and call Disney reservations. I had a twenty minute wait to talk to a cast member and then we start going thru my reservations. Happily, he knew what I was talking about, LOL! Prior to today, I had four separate reservations.

Two room only ressies for Nov 27th
Two package ressies for Nov 28th to Dec 7th


I changed one of the two package ressies to include November 27th so we'd have the extra dining and I upgraded the dining package from the quick service to the basic dining. Now Play 'n Dine won't be out of pocket!


That ressie taken care of, we moved on to the second package ressie. One teeny problem. There was no second package ressie. Remember when I changed from POR to Pop and spent an hour with a CM making all my changes? Turns out, he didn't process my deposit on the second room so it timed out and self cancelled. What a disaster that could have been! Holy crap. We finally got that taken care of as well, and then cancelled the two room only ressies I had for Nov 27th.


Part of my trip covers the black out dates. So from November 27th to December 2nd we have free dining upgraded from quick service to the basic dining and then December 3rd to the 7th, we're paying the full price of the basic dining plan.


In the end, we:
* saved $1,400
* added another park day
* added another ADR, counter service meal and snack
* saved on the out of pocket meal we would have purchased on arrival day
* saved on the out of pocket Play 'n Dine meal

Yippee!!
