Disney Dream - State Room 7586

I stayed in this cabin twice on Fantasy, May 2014 & Oct 2015. Tried to get it again for an upcoming trip but had to go with 7588. While I know I can't advise on shape room is in I can tell you this was a great location. About 5 doors from mid-ship elevator & the 1st Family Verandah room. You are over a lifeboat but just at the edge so can see down to Deck 4.

There are conflicting reports whether it sleeps 4 or 5. I am interested in the Fantasy specifically. Hoping it sleeps only 4 so we will have the extra chair.

Have fun, Alicatt.

We did not have a chair either time on the Fantasy Cabin 7586. It had a pull down bed and the long couch; did not use on either trip as it was just the 2 of us.

Well, I just did a dummy booking, and when I had 4 in my party room 7586 was available. When I upped it to 5, it wasn't.

Thank you for your response. By pulldown bed, do you mean it pulls down from the wall? I have seen some people use that term for the bunk over the couch that descends from the ceiling. If it is a Murphy style bed that pulls down from the wall, that explains the lack of a chair. I was told by a deck manager on the Fantasy that the extra chair was removed from all the cabins with a Murphy bed because so many guests complained there was no place to put the chair once that bed was down.

Thank you very much for checking that. I wonder if it sleeps four because it has the couch and Murphy bed but has no bunk. If that is the case, it would not have the chair which is my only reason for booking a family cabin. I find it so frustrating to try to figure out which cabins have that extra chair. When I called DCL about another cabin that appears to sleep only four, the CM insisted that all family cabins sleep 5!

Well, that's not true. While this was on the Fantasy, we had two 4A (Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah) rooms and one slept 5 (Murphy bed in cabinet on left here):

And one slept 4 (chair where there's no Murphy bed):

Unfortunately, that's just another example of the CMs on the phone not knowing the answer, but answering the question anyway (with incorrect answer).

I do know on the Magic class ships that some rooms for 4 have a Murphy bed instead of a bunk bed, but I don't know if that's true on the Dream class ships.

I'll also say, the one cruise I was able to check that room on may or may not indicate that it's a 4 person room. If the lifeboat for that room is close to full, while the room may actually sleep 5, they may only allow 4 to be booked. I'm still checking on other cruises if I get the same result.

Well, I got the same result of 2 other cruises. When I was booking for 4 I was able to see that room as available. But when I upped the number to 5, the room was not available.

So, in looking up on the DCL website for your category (4C) I find this info:
  • Sleeps: 4 to 5, except Category 4E staterooms which sleep 3 to 4
  • Size: 299 sq. ft., including verandah
  • Room Configuration: queen bed, single sleeper sofa, wall pull-down bed (in most) and upper-berth pull-down bed (in some)
Not real definitive, but seems like your room MIGHT have a Murphy bed and not a bunk bed. But no way of knowing for sure unless someone here has actual experience.

I know the CM's information was incorrect. The deck manager on the Fantasy would know his cabins far better than a CM on the phone. To give the DCL CM credit, he did check with other CMs after I told him my experience. He said the consensus was that all family cabins slept five. You would think that DCL would provide the CMs with accurate descriptions of each cabin.

Thanks for the photos and for checking more sailings. We'll see if Margaret can solve the mystery about this particular cabin. Thanks again, Shmoo.

You're welcome

BTW, it's Shmoo (no "c")

Funny- I'm 99% sure this is our room too- but we don't sail until February. Would also be interested in this room's configuration!

Sorry for the misspelling, Shmoo. I edited my response.

Hope we all find out, drea21!

We stayed in the cabin on our first cruise as well. This was back in February, so I'm hoping you have the same CM taking care of your room...she's awesome. Just to confirm, it does sleep four and is very close to the elevators. Have a great cruise!

I see all these are of the Fantasy, are the pictures similar to the Dream?

Sorry to have hijacked your thread, missycourteau. I have never sailed on the Dream nor seen any definitive info on the similarities/differences of the cabins in the Dream class ships. Hope there are more responses to your question today.

Were you on the Dream of Fantasy? Did the cabin have a Murphy bed or extra arm chair? Thanks for your help. Did you enjoy your first cruise?

On the Dream, and yes, an extra chair, but no murphy bed...just the fold-out couch and the pull-down bed. For my son, 8yrs, the pull-down bed was one of the best parts of the trip.

The cruise was incredible. Relax, enjoy the food, talk walks on deck 4 and if you're anything like my wife, you'll love the shows. (one show has a shirtless Tarzan...the wife loved it :)
