Disney Dream September 26, 2016

Hello... I have a PDF file with the current FE information.

If you didn't get my PM with the attachment, then you haven't made enough posts on DISBoards yet.

I can't send it to some of you as a PM (private message) until you make enough posts to allow you access to the PM feature. So... please join in here and make some posts. You can ask questions regarding the cruise, excursions, etc. ;)
Hi!
We are travelling from Sydney, aus. Our first Disney cruise! I'm not sure what the Fish Exchange means but we could maybe be part of it? I'd love more information:(

More FE Info....

There isn't any set amount or quantity.... Both are left to the discretion of the giver. However, please keep in mind that if you are flying, you may want to keep gifts small and lightweight. For ideas, search the Internet for Disney Cruise FE gift ideas. Traditionally, a gift is given to each child, and typically something for the adults. Gifts can be delivered at any time during the cruise.

A list will be started, with the first 20 cabins designated as Group 1. Once Group 1 is full, a new group will be started. The cutoff to signing up will be one month prior to sailing to give everyone a chance to join, and participants time to know how many gifts to make. If the final group is less than 20, then the groups might be adjusted some. If anyone would like to exchange gifts separately with a cabin that is not in your group, please arrange that among yourselves.

FE is short for "Fish Extender". Outside each cabin/stateroom door, there is a metal hook in the shape of either a fish or a seahorse, depending on the side of the ship. Disney uses the hook to hang cruise information for the cabin/stateroom's guests.

At some point, cruisers began hanging custom wall pocket/organizers (FEs) from the hook, "extending" the hooks capacity to accommodate the gifts exchanged with other cruisers. Disney allows the tradition as long as the FEs fit within the space, do not interfere with Disney's use of the hook, and do not stick out into the hallway.

You can make your own FE, or purchased one from crafters on websites like Ebay and Etsy. As far as the measurement restrictions go, I have found a range of sizes specified; however, I have found that if you have an FE that is no wider than 9.5" ( including the dowel rod), and no longer than 4 feet, you should be good. Most are made with a separate pocket for each person in the cabin/stateroom. (Make sure pockets can open wide enough to accept gifts. Multiple pockets allow for multiple gifts to fit, or for gifts to be placed in a pocket for the intended receiver.)

There have been cases of door decorations, FEs and even gifts being stolen. I use zip ties to secure my FE to the hook, and have zip tied my gifts to the other FEs if they are likely to be stolen. Just make sure you bring nail clippers to cut through the zip ties.

Hi everyone... This is my third Disney cruise and I've participated in the FE exchange on the first two cruises. FUN!!!!

I hope there's no objections, but I've created a spreadsheet to start tracking the FE gift exchange participants.

So far, we have 8 state rooms:

9586, 9584, 2521, 10166, 10164, 12028, 7578 & 7580.

Question for GA6lovesDW... 7578/7580... Will both rooms have a door FE or will there be one door FE for both rooms? If both doors, than which names go with which rooms?

If you would like to participate in the FE Gift Exchange, please provide:

State room #
First names of occupants
Title... Dad, mom, son, daughter, etc.
Ages of kids, ages of adults is optional
Allergies, Y or N, if yes: what kind/who
Special event or celebration
Favorite Disney character

For those on the list already, please provide any of the above info, if not already provided.

If you join the FE, but then cancel the cruise... PLEASE come back and let us know.

The list will be organized into groups at 3 months out. By this time, everyone should be paid-in-full for the cruise. Everyone must confirm again to stay on the list. Once confirmation is done, the final list will be sent to participants. We will aim for no more than 20 rooms per list. We are currently filling Group 1.

The cut-off for the last group can be flexible, as there may be others that book the cruise less than 3 months out that may want to join. We can work with these families, as this is mostly for the kids. My family booked our last cruise just over a month out and we were allowed to join a close FE group. I will always be grateful.

So, send me your info and start planning, creating, crafting, shopping for the FE...
