Disney Dream- September 25th 4-Night Bahamian Cruise!

We are flying in the day before our cruise. I would really like to stay at the Hyatt at the Airport....and take the Disney transportation to the ship. Can a person still find in on Hotwire? And, what should I look for? If not, can anyone give me an idea of the price I should be looking at for the Hyatt?
Thanks,
Barbara:goodvibes

The Hyatt website shows $143 the lowest rate + tax

We are coming in the night before and staying at the Hyatt. Sounds like the simple way to go.

anyone else doing the MNSSHP the night before the cruise?

tried to convince John to stay a few extra days after.... but we booked July and New Years Eve instead..as my friends say.. I have a Disney problem!!:rotfl2:

We're planning to stay a few nights after the cruise and hit MNSSHP. We've gone the past 2 years & it quickly became one our favorite traditions.

Is it really that good? To me, it seemed pretty expensive for a few extra hours in the park...what do you guys like about it?

we are also staying a few nights at AKV after the cruise and plan on hitting some of the parks and also a 1st visit to Harry Potter @ Universal IOA

:yay:

btw....is there a logo for our cruise???

The Halloween party is our favorite! You can enter the parks starting at 4pm. the party officially starts at 7pm.
We love the parade and fireworks! 180 degree fireworks are awesome, and we have been lucky to see the Headless Horseman start the parade.
(Boo to You stays with you for days!) the 3 times we have been there, the crowds have been super low, so wait times are minimum! Big Thunder we rode 3 times in a row without having to even get off the ride.
Halloween is my favorite holiday and I get to trick or treat with Mickey and friends. it has become a tradition for us!! :)

we have reservations at Crystal Palace for a late lunch, so we will just be there a little early before the party starts! :)

We also go in around 4:00 each year. Last year Florida got hit with a tropical rainstorm the day we went to MNSSHP, and it poured for the first 3 or so hours. That just caused the park to be even more deserted than usual. We threw on our ponchos, pulled out some umbrellas, and had a wonderful time despite the weather. We end up staying until park closing which is around 12:00. If the crowds aren't huge you'll definitely feel like you got a whole days worth of admission for the cost of the ticket. We usually do a half day at another park in the morning. Take a lunch break back at the hotel, and go over to the Magic Kingdom late afternoon.

Both years we've gone crowds have been pretty small, and we rode on any ride we wanted without a wait. The fireworks and parade are great, and of course my kids love all the trick-or-treat candy. If you don't make it to the party, it's also fun to go sit on the beach at the Poly and watch the fireworks from there. It's a real great show.

We went to Harry Potter this past January, and the Forbidden Journey is such a cool ride!! I loved it!! Try to get there first thing in the morning when crowds are at their lowest. The queue line is amazing. If you end up liking the ride you can go through the single riders line later in the day and hopefully get on faster.

So there is a MNSSHP on the Saturday before the cruise sets sail? Originally my wife and I were going to go to DW twice this year. Once in May and once in September, specifically to see the place done up for Halloween. We had booked it and even had free dining. Then we saw the Dream and have always wanted to do a Disney Cruise Line cruise, so we changed our plans. My wife really want to expirence MNSSHP. She LOVED MVMCP and we've heard from a lot of people that MNSSHP is even better.

We are staying at the Hyatt in Orlando airport the night before the cruise. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to take a cab over to catch the party the night before, then cab it back to the hotel. Wonder how the timing would work since we plan to be up early on cruise day to check in at the airport.

Suggestions??

BTW, my wife just got her passport, so we are all set to go on our cruise now!

dates for the parties:
13th sept tues
17th sept sat
20th sept tues
22th sept thurs
24th sept sat
27th sept tues
29th sept thurs

We have done the Halloween party twice now the night before the cruise..back in 07 & 08. both times we actually were staying off property. We rented a car at the airport and just drove to MK for the party.. then back to our hotel, then in the am made the trek to Port Can. We gave a bunch of the Cast Members on the cruise Halloween candy from the party.

taking a cab over would work great too. have you thought about renting a car? in the past that was a lot cheaper than Disneys transportation.

congrats on the passport! :)

I'm lucky enough to live near the parks, so I go to MNSSHP a couple times each year. We too love Halloween and there's just something fun about the party that makes us feel like we're kids again, trick-or-treating like it used to be way back when. A lot of people dress up in costumes or wear orange and black and everyone just has fun!

The short lines are truly amazing and we too got to ride Thunder Mountain a bunch without leaving our train. :) Haunted Mansion is extra spooky for the parties and the Headless Horseman is jsut so cool thundering down the street. If it does rain, it almost adds to the spooky effects already in place.

We thought about renting a car, but we just don't want to mess with it. We are already booked to take the buses from the airport to the port, plus I like the idea of checking in at the airport, rather then at the port.

We'll have to give the party some thought. What a way to start the trip though!

I too love MNSSHP, I've made it every year for the past several years, it is so much fun! We'll go either the night before or after the cruise, for sure.

We always go through the rent a car/hire a car/cruise transfers. We use a specific transfer service, he is awesome and it is $110...he is flexible, and will even bring a uhaul for luggage if needed! Even though a car would be cheaper we are lazy :thumbsup2.

Dates haven't officially been announced yet, but I think the September MNSSHP will be held on Tuesday's and Friday's. Those are the nights the park closes at 7:00. Starting in October it looks like they'll add Sunday to the schedule. My family is planning to go after the cruise on Friday, September 30th. From what I can tell the following dates would be MNSSHP:

Friday, Sept. 16th
Tuesday, Sept. 20th
Friday, Sept. 23rd
Tuesday, Sept. 27th
Friday, Sept. 30th
Sunday, Oct. 2nd

We've always gone on Tuesday nights in the past, and I loved going then. This year we'll be cruising the 1st Tuesday and flying home the following Tuesday :sad1:

We have been to both the Very Merry Christmas Party and the Halloween Party. The snow on Main Street was nice, but I liked the Halloween one much better. The Headless Horseman and the grave diggers in the parade were just amazing. We are going to Disney before our Dream cruise. We will probably be hitting the MNSSHP then.

Counting down the days...

Hi there! We need to add my DD (Chuck) to our FE list! Just found out that his work is going to let him have the time off! Yippee! So it will be three adults in the AJSTAUD family!

Thanks!

Our adult son is coming with us, too. But, he has his own cabin!! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!!

Hi everyone!

My family has been booked on this cruise since Feb 2010, but I am just getting back to the DIS boards. This will be our first cruise & we are very excited. :cloud9: It is myself, DH, & DD (9). We are on deck 6. We will be heading to WDW after the cruise for 4-nights at AKL (our first stay at a deluxe).

I have been reading about the FE, but don't quite understand. If someone can give me more details, I think we will participate.

Thanks! :cheer2:

Welcome!! :)

The FE is like a secret santa. You buy a gift/gifts for the cabins participating. (can be individual gifts or a group type gift.) You hang your FE off the "fish" outside of your cabin. You deliver the gifts when you want to. It is fun to wake up the next morning to little treats etc, or when you return from dinner etc. When I was in charge of our group last year we had 25 cabins, in 08, we had 60 cabins. (some groups can be divided up into smaller groups.)

I am working on our FE gifts now. It is nothing expensive....about 50 cents each. But, I hope people like it.
