Disney Dream ~ September 15, 2011

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you on our cruise. This will be the second half of my B2B....
Thanks to the organizers of the FE...you rock!
Do we have a meet set up? Less than 30 days :)
Dee pirate:

We are all set to go, just waiting for September 15th. Sooooooooo excited, can't wait to see her in person.

I can't believe I missed her yesterday on the webcam. Had it on all day, although at some points it wouldn't load at all for me. Am hoping to glimpse sight of her on Sunday when she docks :teeth:

Becky - I have to be very careful in my job too...I process and close mortgage loans and there is sooooo much regulation it sometimes makes my head spin. Lol. Unfortunately, I worked on the FE list at home with a hubby & three kids constantly begging for my attention. And most nights the neighborhood kids were constantly ringing the doorbell, too. Thank goodness I don't get that many distractions at work! And of course it didn't help that I was keeping TWO FE lists. Oh my gosh, what was I thinking? Lol Honestly, though, I enjoyed compiling the list and keeping in touch through email and on this thread.

So, we need to finalize our DISmeet I think we should let Becky Or Aimee choose the time since they seem to have the big schedule to work around. :goodvibes

So thank you, thank you, thank you and I look forward to passing out what I made/(and also things I am bringing) and to receive things also. I love surprises. :goodvibes

Becky

Thanks to the organizers of the FE...you rock!
Dee pirate:

Yep Deb, got the corrected list!!:thumbsup2 And, I wanted to thank you for all of your hard work in keeping our FE for us!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

You're welcome! It's been my pleasure to keep the FE list. :goodvibes

Phew! I've been reading for hours and I'm FINALLY caught up! Guess I should check in here more often. I've been trying to contain my excitement for this cruise so all my friends who aren't coming with us won't totally end up hating me for talking constantly about OUR FIRST EVER CRUISE - and, by the way, it's a DISNEY CRUISE!!! earseek:

A question for you experienced cruisers.... Should DH bring a suit for dinner? We are not going to Palo because I want to try the regular dinner rotation on our first cruise. Will he be Ok in either a Polo shirt or Florida shirt and slacks?

Next question.... Will we have enough time in Nassau to do a snorkel trip and still have time to see some of Nassau/Paradise Island? Our plan right now is to take the water taxi & do a little sightseeing but a snorkel trip would be fun, too. I don't want to try to do too much and get DH stressed out thinking we might not make it back in time. We do plan to do some snorkeling on CC, so that's probably what I'd give up in Nassau if I'm overestimating what we will have time to do.

I'll be checking for meet times and places. We are pretty flexible with our schedule. We'd love to come to any meets that are planned. Are we going to have an Aqua Duck meet? I think on embarkation day we will be wearing tee shirts with the picture you see in my clipart or else our lime green DIS shirts, so we should be pretty easy to spot either way. :teeth:

Pre-cruise, we will be celebrating our anniversary (11 years) on Sept 12 in Cape May. We eloped to DL for our wedding! :bride: pirate: We'll have our wedding shirts on that day, Mickey in his tux & Minnie in her wedding dress. They are what we wore for our wedding, but we will probably be without the wedding hats since they fall off too easy. If you'll be in WDW and you spot us, be sure to say Hi! We will have some of those friends with us that day who I'm trying not to drive crazy by constantly talking about our cruise but by then I'll be way too excited to control it, they'll just have to put up with me! :yay:

Hi there! No, your DH doesn't need a suit for dinner. On the 3 night cruises, the dinner attire is VERY casual. He'll be just fine in a polo shirt or Florida shirt and slacks. He would even be ok in jeans. I've seen people in shorts and t-shirts at dinner. To me...dressing up for dinner is all a part of the whole cruise experience. :thumbsup2

We are scheduled to be in port at Nassau from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, so you should have plenty of time to do snorkeling AND explore Nassau/Paradise Island. Depending on just how much exploring you plan on doing. But if you're willing to save the snorkeling until Castaway Cay, I would recommend doing that. There are hidden Disney characters out there in the snorkling area on Castaway Cay.

Congrats on 11 years of marriage (on my birthday, of all days!! :goodvibes)

We haven't finalized any DISmeets yet. I sure hope we can all come up with a time that works for everyone. It would be sad not to get to meet everyone on this thread after "chatting" all these months. :thumbsup2

Debbie, thanks for your reply. DH was happy he doesn't have to wear a suit. We both spent many years during our careers having to dress up daily, so we really enjoy the chance to stay casual now. Dressy for us these days is what most people consider business casual, so I think that's what we will do.

I've heard about the characters on CC, looking forward to snorkeling with them. I probably shouldn't push DH too much about snorkeling in Nassau. I'm the beach person/diver in our family, he tolerates it because I like it so much. I do want to see if we like Nassau enough to make a trip there. If we do, I can dive or snorkel then.

We'll add your Sept 12 birthday :cake: to our celebration in Cape May!

Do you think 1:30 is too early? Maybe there can be an extending time. Or maybe we can do later like 4:00? But I don't know what time the lifeboat drill is.

Also - does Disney require you to take your life jackets with you from your cabins for the lifeboat drill? :confused3 Carnival stopped doing that a while back. I just want to be prepared for weather we will need to do this or not.

Becky (p.s. I was talking to Aimee about a good time to meet also)

Thanks for thinking about us and our schedule for that day :bride:

1:30 is the time that people can get into their staterooms, so most I would assume would not want a meet for that time. The Mandatory Muster Drill is at 4pm and right after that, most head to the sailaway party. Oh, and NO we no longer have to wear the Life Jackets to the muster drill :thumbsup2 On the one hand, I'll miss those photos, but on the other, that sure will save some time :) As for a meet time, I can't think of any other time, except perhaps on Castaway cay Day, we can set an early morning or late afternoon meet time at the post office or something like that? Just a suggestion but I'd definatley like to hear others suggestions too. :thumbsup2

What about a meet at :2:30-ish then maybe a sunrise gathering our first morning on an upper deck area. I know getting up early on vacation isn't everyone's cup o'tea, but it's something I have to do. I promised my salty old sailor dad I would and I will. :cutie:

DW and I are open to whatever time is best for everyone.:thumbsup2 Our schedule is wide open. As far as a sunrise gathering, DW and I are early risers, so again no problem there for us.:cool2: Work weeks we get up at 4:30am Monday thru Friday. Because of getting ready for work, our drive time to work, and the time we start work. DW and I ride together - carpool:drive: - it works out well for us. Plus both of us are from farm families who get up with the chickens everyday anyway. Even Saturdays & Sundays we don't sleep in much, we are usually up by 6:00 or 6:30am. We don't plan on sleeping in on the cruise. So many things to do and so many things to see!!!:woohoo::yay:

What about a meet at :2:30-ish QUOTE]

I know this time would not work for us due to the 3:00 wedding. But if it works for everyone else then we would just not be able to meet people.

How far before the 3:00 time would be the cut-off for y'all? Trying to think a way around or between the 1:30 & 3:00. Maybe before 1:30 although I don't think everyone will be onboard yet.

Hubby got put on 7-day work weeks yesterday (officially but he's been doing it for the majority of the year). They said 10 hr. days for now but will likely go to 12s in the next few days. Bless his heart. He was telling me yesterday that if he worked regular 40-hour weeks for a year he'd have 2080 hours. By the time we leave for vacation on 9/9 he'll have about that amount of hours worked since the 1st of the year. :scared1: Needless to say, he's wound up tight juuuuust a little. He's so excited to get away for 2 whole weeks. In fact, he woke me up this morning with this:

So now I'm in freak-out mode! I have so much to get done! And in just shy of 3 weeks! Yikes!!!!

3 weeks ... try 2!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

DH was just saying that he's starting to get excited for the trip. He's been trying to memorize our itinerary. Bless his heart. :lmao:

OMG! 2 weeks and he's starting to get excited?! I'd just die! LOL!

Yeah, I have 3 weeks and tons to do. I have at least 2-3 days of sewing projects I need to get done for the trip. Hair appointments, car servicing, total wash/wax/detail of the car, dog grooming, house cleaning, blah blah blah. I do think I'm done with the FE stuff, tho. That's a plus. Oh! And I decided sorta on the fly to start the boys back to school this past Monday so even tho the new curriculum is easy-peasy there's still time I have to check-in on what they're doing, etc. So fun! I think I'm gonna start my packing piles now. I'm terrified I'll remember everything, we'll get within 25 miles of WDW, and I'll suddenly realize I left the passports at home. :scared1:

So what do you have for the next 2 weeks????

I still have to make my FE, finish my FE gifts, hair appts, mani/pedi for me, figure out how we are going to get to the airport (was just going to drive our car up and park it, but then I realized how much that would be and need to run rental car prices for two one ways!). Tomorrow I have to go pick up DS16 from camp where he's been for the past 8 weeks on staff. Monday I have to go pick up DS14 and 3 of his scout buddies from the drop off point of their 50 mile canoe trip. Then there's the house cleaning and packing. And I wanted to enclose our front porch to make it a little more secure (think sally port) for our house/pet sitter. We have a dog that runs out, given the chance. But, unless I can hire her son to do it, I really don't think I'll have time to get to it.

Oh and touring plans. I haven't made up our touring plans yet! :scared1:

LOL, I had a nightmare about 3 days ago. I was at the counter and the CM asked for our passports and I had left them at home:scared1:. I woke up breathing hard and was relieved that I was dreaming.

Crap! See?! I was totally forgetting my mani/pedi! You still gotta make your FE??? Ouch. Have you made one before? Generally if it's something I'm making for the first time it will take forever but if I've made one before I'm golden. Glad I'm not the only one that waited a while to finish the FE gifts. I think mine are pretty well wrapped-up. I need to do a recheck to be sure. Oh! Then I want to pack up a box of junk I can send to the port. Your front porch enclosure... -->:lmao:! I'm quite familiar with the 'Sally Ports'...not because I was a customer! pirate: I used to have to go sign-out our trusty-trustee to come clean the communications center every day. So now I'm imagining the dog with the Sally Port..... That's funny! That does remind me, tho. I should prob'ly write out some notes of some sort for the old man's brother who has offered to keep our little furry girl for us. I think the in-laws and bro-in-law are about to find out just how people-attached our girl is. She's gonna pick her person at their house and be on 'em like white on rice.

Toria! I know! Wouldn't forgetting the passports be the WORST?! I would just die! Yesterday I also had a very odd dream about WDW and seeing a little girl get carted off by a gator but that's just one of those early morning wacked-out dreams. Not gonna stress about that so much. :thumbsup2

Anyone else watching the tropics??? I think Irene won't be an issue but that wave that's way out there still might be timed about right. At this point we're watching Irene to make sure she doesn't come our way. If a storm is gonna hit I'd rather it happened while we're already gone. That's terrible, I know. I just don't want to deal with the horrible-canes. I really don't. I'd rather be on vacation and have one come wipe the slate clean. That's terrible to say, I know. That actually happened to our friends back in Louisiana when Katrina came. We've spent too many anniversaries cleaning up after storms and sweating it out with no electricity. Let me at least be away from home for the anniversary then come home to pick up the pieces. :cool2:
