I'm in! When did you live in Tucson? We were there from 1993 to 1998. Both of my boys were born there. My DH pretty much grew up there until his mom remarried and they moved to New England when he was in Jr High School.

I got there around Sept 1998, my son was born in Tucson as well. Beautiful place, but entirely tooooooo Hooooooot!

I agree about the heat. How do you find the heat in Florida? I really really want to relocate there in about 5 years, but the heat there does concern me.

Where did you give birth? Both my boys were born at the Birth and Women's Health Center with Certified Nurse Midwives. It was awesome. With DS#2, we were home in 7 hours.

I had him at Tucson Medical Center and we went home 2 days later. As for the heat here in Florida, it has been unseasonably hot and last winter was unseasonably cold. At least when you walk outside you don't feel like your face is going to melt off like in Tucson. Out of all the places we have lived, I love it here. We live 30 minutes from the beaches that have beautiful blue-green water and white sand beaches that look like sugar.

The Birth Center is just across the parking lot from Tucson Medical Center. If anything had gone wrong, they would have transferred me there.

Yeah, living in Arizona (we did 5 years in Tucson and another 5 in Yuma) was like walking into an oven every time you went outside.

Blue-green water and white sand beaches ... sounds like heaven! I really hope we do have the opportunity to relocate!!

You still have time to sign up for the FE EXCHANGE, the cutoff is July 15. You can send a private message to luckymomoftwo(on this thread) and she will add you to the list and email you a list of people participating. When you send her a message, include the name of each family member and the kids ages along with the cabin number if you have it. My DD is 8, but she gets along better with the 5 & 6 year olds because she is a little small for her size and the younger age group is much more her size.

Well, I finally got this here computer contraption working again. Don't know what happened............but it went hay wire on me. Thought I was going to have to put my foot thru the screen. But, DW got me calmed down and I called Dell for some help. To make a long story short it is finally fixed once again. And of course all of this had to happen right when we could start placing our reservations for the cruise. Thought we wouldn't be able to get the reservations we wanted. But it all worked out and we still got everything we wanted.

If you booked GTY, it would be the norm to not have a stateroom number yet. DCL often waits till 35 or less days out to assign the rooms, but sometimes will do it sooner. Just keep checking your ressie. That part to me is often part of the fun. It's like a nice surprise, Usually, and waiting to see if you got some pixie dust.... That makes it feel like Christmas!

LOL, Pixie Dust = Something extra special happening, ie: FREE UPGRADE !!
Some people get it, most don't. There's no rhyme or reason as to who gets that kind of Pixie Dust, but must sure be fabulous to those who do get it!!

As for clubs, my son will be going. Other than the times where I'm doing something just for adults (like Palo) or something for he and I, I'll let him go as much or as little as he wants to. They really are great in the clubs. Last fall, he never wanted to go, but when we made him, he never wanted to leave LOL He's older this time around, and is more aware of what activities he likes and doesn't like. We like to highlight on the Navigator we receive each night (for the next days activities), those activities that really interest us, and we want to do or check out. Makes for a good goodnight routine

I have a question - anyone ever have a cake ordered during reservation making?? Its my oldest birthday why we're crusing and it asked if we wanted a cake but I did't know what it entailed any help would be greatly appreciated. Is any one planning on getting of @ nassau? I think its a definite for the kids club, she is insisting.

At first, I was thinking no. But, the more I think about it, the more I want my boys to experience being in another country. They don't really remember us taking them to Mexico when they were smaller. And we wouldn't take them there now. The border towns we used to visit aren't safe any longer.

I was thinking we may do the Pirate Museum. And I think I want to buy a rum cake and maybe some rum!

Cars 2 I really want to see, but think that will be one movie my son and I will watch while on board (gotta save something for the ship ) Glad to hear a good opinion of it
Birthdays,,,,, It used to be that you noted it on your reservation and then the first night, if the head server doesn't mention it to you, you mention it to them, and then they would ask you which night you wanted to celebrate it and then they would bring out that night, a really pretty single slice cake with the appropriate celebration noted on it, "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations". Here was what they brought to Congratulate my daughter on her "End of Chemo, End of Cancer Celebration"



BUT now, since reading reports on the main board from people saying this is no longer offered for free, that now you have to pay for a cake, I contacted my TA to look into that for me and she says she called DCL and they told her it's no longer a slice of cake but a CUPCAKE instead. I assume no charge for that. However if you want a celebration cake which means a whole cake there is a charge for that and I would assume it's the same price if you had ordered it to be delivered to your stateroom (those prices can be found on the DCL website under cruise ammenities and stateroom Gifts.

Nassau.... We are on a B2B and I do plan on getting off for a wee bit on the first leg of our cruises. But THIS leg, well the OASIS Of THE SEAS will be in port with us, and THATS a LOT of people so I think that will be our stay on board and enjoy OUR ship day. But I might get off just to take some photos of the OASIS from land, then take more from our own ship. I'm really looking forward to seeing the OASIS alongside the Dream!!
I've been throwing excursion ideas around in my head for our 1st stop in Nassau, and the pirate museum is a possibility. I think my soon to be 8yr old would enjoy that. Or maybe just a beach day, or....OH I don't know yet, but will have fun planning it
