We will be sailing the Disney Dream in May for a 3 night Bahamas cruise. Can't wait as this is our first cruise ever! My husband and I (we're traveling without kids) have 8:30 PM reservations at Palo on Pirates night. Does Palo participate in the pirate themed activities? Will we miss the festivities and fireworks with this reservation time?

I don't think Palo participates in Pirate Night festivities.

The fireworks go off around 10:00 PM, so you might be able to catch them.

No, Palo doesn't participate in the Pirate Party stuff. It might be tough to make the fireworks, we did the Palo Brunch and we there for 2 hours, I can't imagine dinner will be faster and you won't want to rush anyway. Palo is amazing. If you really want to do the Pirate Party/fireworks, check when you get on board, you might be able to switch the reservation time or day.

We aren't big fans of the whole pirate: night thing. Don't care for the menu in the Main Dining Rooms and are pretty much over the craze so we always book Palo (or Remy) for pirate: night when we cruise.

There are no themed activities in the restaurant, although some (few) of the patrons will be in costume. I'd think that 8:30 would be cutting it close for catching the fireworks. You should normally allow >2 hours for a nice meal at Palo. You've got a couple of options though.
  1. Tell your server you want to make the party. They will do their best to move things along during your meal. I don't recommend this because it doesn't do justice to a very nice dining experience. Or,
  2. When you board, go to the designated location (usually the podium outside Palo/Remy) for adult dining reservations and see if you can get an earlier seating.

I took my 4-year-old to the fireworks at the last minute on our Dream cruise last year, and it was really crowded! (We waited 'til the last minute b/c she doesn't like loud noises and wasn't sure if she wanted to go.) I would definitely recommend not waiting 'til the last minute to get a spot on deck, if pirate night is important to you. We were both miserable. My other kids and DH went earlier, got a reasonable spot, and had a great time. Whether you choose Palo or pirate night, you'll have a blast! Enjoy your cruise! :cheer2:

We love Pirate Night and always participate. I would recommend moving your Palo reservation if you can.
