Disney Dream October 7, 2016

Is there a Facebook page for this cruise? We wanted to see the chatter about the hurricane on that too.. Fingers crossed it will just be bad weather leaving Friday and be beautiful the rest of the time.

Just in, PC will be closed as of noon tomorrow. So we won't be leaving from PC. I wish DCL would give us updates. If we don't have insurance and they leave from another port will they give us an option for refund? Afraid my flight Thursday won't make it to MCO. This has become a nightmare

we are in the exact same situation as you - amysmith282!
we are scheduled to fly out of knoxville thursday night at 6:30 pm and drive to Cocoa for the night....I'm pretty certain Allegiant will be cancelling as they aren't like the "big" carriers to make other arrangements. we also did not purchase the insurance and thus are concerned the boat will leave anyway without us!
I feel as if the "no info" from DCL right now is concerning because they tell everyone to arrive a day early "just in case" for flights -- but that's TOMORROW for so many traveling - and we aren't getting any extra time to be on the phone rearranging/cancelling!
I heard WDW phone line for the resort/parks is on over a 2 1/2 hour wait currently!
ugh....I wish we knew what they were going to do. it's killing me. Terrible to say, but given all this, I'd rather KNOW something and it be cancelled than to know NOTHING and still be trying to force a way down there only to be turned away - there is a small window before we have to make a decision if we must DRIVE it to even make it there in time! I cannot imagine those folks in the northeast trying to get down from places like NY....as I saw something on a board about them having to leave to drive and not knowing a thing. Guess it could always be worse. Our first world problems aren't life altering

We are supp to fly from St. Louis tomorrow am at 8:00. I'm hoping that doesn't get cancelled bc every flight after will as the weather gets worse as the day goes on. We planned to make the 16 hr drive if it cancels but that will be brutal. I called DCL Monday and they said they've never cancelled a cruise. So, we know it won't be cancelled but I wish they would decide where the ship will be. If PC is closed they can't bring the ship back there. I truly do feel for those who live in the mess and are losing everything and not just us possibly losing vacation.

I hear you - I don't want to drive to Florida in the middle of a hurricane, not to mention they are already having a gas shortage in the state -- so even if you get that far, you will HAVE to fill up to make the trip and you won't be able...
I have heard though that cruises HAVE had to cancel or shorten trips when the port is closed because the prior cruise ship did not make it back in time. In the case of a 3 day cruise being delayed by a full day, they tend to give the option to re-book. I think that's also the case for port departure change. We can only hope, for those of us who might lose everything...even if we can, we will lose out on over $500 in fees and non-refundables from the rest of our travel arrangements. ugh :worried:
I can't imagine we could even GET to Florida Thursday or Friday during the storm - so being able to get to a port of any location would be a long shot for everyone! Let's hope they made some decision by later today for everyone having to begin travel within the next 20 hours!!

I switched my hotel to Orlando because originally it was right on the ocean in CoCoa beach. Orlando will be a little better than the coast but will still be rough. I just wish we could get some answers. I mean, the Dream is on its way back and they know they can't dock in PC so just tell us! I thought the same thing, if ours gets delayed a day would they even do that? I wonder if they keep the Dream out at sea longer in order to get those passengers to PC after storm. I heard they have extended cruises before. Ugh.

Bless you! We are also scheduled to stay in Cocoa ourselves but have yet to do anything on that (thru orbitz).
this is completely unofficial, but a friend just got off the phone with disney world resorts to ask about her options to cancel (they have a great policy in place for hurricane cancelling! nice to know) and she said, oh, I don't know that you'd know anything about the Disney cruise, but my friend was supposed to leave on one Friday -- he said that as far as he had heard, they had been TRYING to reroute, but decided to cancel. No word on anything yet - so I don't want anyone to panic or post as officially ANYTHING....but this might be the one time they consider skipping a sailing for safety reasons. President O already had a press conference this afternoon saying he's sending FEMA --- never a good sign.
Allegiant just posted that all flights to Fort Lauderdale for tomorrow are cancelled.

my understanding is that the Dream is still in Cozumel - they arrived this morning and are there for the day....spending the entire day tomorrow coming back - and holding back I imagine from the the storm. I can't imagine they can make it to port by Friday morning unless they were to actually ride in with the hurricane! I assume it will be delayed arriving back IF the port even opens for them - as they've said Port Canaveral is closed until the storm passes and it's safe to access....meaning who knows when?

According to another discussion I read just a few minutes ago is that the captain is supposed to tell the ppl on the Dream now what's going on tonight at the show. Rumors that they will have a 5th day. Some rumors also that someone called Disney World Resorts and asked about cruise and rumor was they were trying to relocate ship but having trouble and this may be one cruise that has to be cancelled. I know someone who used to work on a cruise and it's like a sin to cancel completely bc they want the money. But they need to think about people and the safety. Also, if PC has damage we won't be able to go anyway.

i have to agree -- I figured they would inform the current cruisers BEFORE the announce anything to us -- and this makes total sense. Although it's pretty hard on those of us waiting to hear and rearrange travel! such anxiety. Yes, I agree that they don't want to cancel - but seriously, this is a pretty serious storm of the decade, so I think cancelling 1 3 day cruise is sacrificial to keep safe and allow for the following cruise a positive experience. Cutting a 7 day down by 1 day might be decent with some compensation (and most give the option of a refund as well) but a 3 day cruise knocked to a 2 day - is there really a point in even making the trip?? We'd head out to sea, turn around and come back - wave to Florida and what's left in the islands as we turn around...
I don't mean to sound grumpy. I honestly would love to still have my vacation, but knowing all the hoops we will all have to jump in order to GET to the port as it stands, I fear the safety of others traveling just trying to make it - prayers to those who are on the road now and those trying to EXIT the storm areas.
I would be happy to just have credit for a future cruise - they don't have to give my my money back per say....just the credit will make me happy.
some might rather get the $$ but I'd be happy to have a chance to get to go another time. This was our first -- and I really would rather not have a bad taste left (nor for my child)

Totally agree. As bad as I want to go, we aren't going to Bahamas and we had planned to go to Atlantis. I wish they would just cancel so we know not to attempt to go there.

you and I are on the same page! the 1 thing our child wanted to do was snorkel....so if we just sit, it's not that there aren't a ton of things on the ship, but it does kind of damper it. And I'm getting more and more anxious about flying directly into this thing! Even if people make it, what happens to them? They are not prepared like the locals with supplies nor can they just pick up and evacuate! The dcl blog is also burning up with folks saying they are disappointed that no decision has been made because people must travel - and travel in a category 4 storm to try and make a cruise that we still aren't sure will even be there or access at the port....
it is a bit crazy we've not heard

I'm sad we are not going and sad we will not being doing FE and sad we won't get to meet you all!!
But safe travels back home if you had already started out...and much luck on rebooking a trip you wish for!

Here's hoping for more magically days in our futures - will miss chatting with you all!:worried:

I was hoping to meet you all as well. We plan to try to rebook although this time was perfect since my daughter was on fall break. Hope everyone is safe. We ended up going to Biloxi MS and Destin FL to have a little fun despite the cancelation.
