i have to agree -- I figured they would inform the current cruisers BEFORE the announce anything to us -- and this makes total sense. Although it's pretty hard on those of us waiting to hear and rearrange travel! such anxiety. Yes, I agree that they don't want to cancel - but seriously, this is a pretty serious storm of the decade, so I think cancelling 1 3 day cruise is sacrificial to keep safe and allow for the following cruise a positive experience. Cutting a 7 day down by 1 day might be decent with some compensation (and most give the option of a refund as well) but a 3 day cruise knocked to a 2 day - is there really a point in even making the trip?? We'd head out to sea, turn around and come back - wave to Florida and what's left in the islands as we turn around...
I don't mean to sound grumpy. I honestly would love to still have my vacation, but knowing all the hoops we will all have to jump in order to GET to the port as it stands, I fear the safety of others traveling just trying to make it - prayers to those who are on the road now and those trying to EXIT the storm areas.
I would be happy to just have credit for a future cruise - they don't have to give my my money back per say....just the credit will make me happy.
some might rather get the $$ but I'd be happy to have a chance to get to go another time. This was our first -- and I really would rather not have a bad taste left (nor for my child)
