Today is the district Pinewood Derby for my son. I am hoping his Disney Dream car does well. I don't have any expectations of him placing but it would be so cool if he did. My daughter has a soccer game at the same exact time so I will miss it but my husband had better have the video camera to record if he does win something.

You are so sweet to say that. I was going to say that it is too early to start a pre-trip report but I started my first one about 2 months out so I guess that excuse is shot! I will have to do a little pre-writing and see if I have enough stuff to start another one. We just started our spring break so I may have some time!

I used to do the written trip reports with pictures but they were time consuming and I figured it was something I would never look back at. When I got my Mac I started playing around with my pictures in iMovie and started making "video" trip reports. I figure those are something that the kids might really enjoy having as they get older. I am not great at it but I love putting them together. I actually watched them last night and it was kind of fun seeing my kids "grow up" each year in the videos.

Hi everyone. Happy weekend! I've been away from the boards for a bit--just busy. Have I missed anything important? We received the FE list, so that is great. My kids are getting excited about it. We have 2 rooms, so they are the ones participating--haha--guess who will have to put it all together though?

Any more word on dining rotations?

I made the mistake of telling the kids WAY too early! I get too excited about it! The kids said in the future, let them know when the countdown is 10 days or less - not 450!

I'm with your daughter. How did you keep it a secret for so long? Even though this cruise is a celebration of my daughter's graduation, I had to tell her right away. One reason is that I wanted her to help me plan everything, and the other reason is that I'm always on the DisBoards on the computer right in front of her! She would have figured it out anyway.

wow!! Alot to catch up on. Work has been crazy busy, but it is winding down this week and then I can concentrate on prepping for the cruise. At least I got the materials to start making my FE and the FE gifts. Maybe next weekend we will have time. Today we are going to see RIO.

We will be at Epcot on Thurday and MK on Friday, so we will try to meet up at Dole Whips. It will depend on the heat. We might decide to go back to the resort in the afternoon for a quick swim. Speaking of swim, I need to go find a new swim suit. Not looking forward to that.

Any one know where to find discounts for Cirque? Also, where are you finding information on crowd levels?

So Rebecca! How did the Dream Car do?? I hope well! I can remember when our boys had time for scouts. They always love the pinewood derby!!

Tammy...how was prom?? I bet they had a great time! We need pictures!!

After a rainy, flooded roads day yesterday, the sun is shining once again!! Although, it's still windy and won't make it to 70...which is below normal. I just saw a report yesterday that said, due to the thicker than normal snow pack to the north and warmer than normal gulf waters to the south, it's setting up the midwest to east coast for a very stormy summer....and it has been!! As he said, When it warms, it storms! Ugh.... I give thanks for our safety and pray for those that have been affected!

Well, I have my Rite Aid list made and coupons clipped! I need to put gas in Steve's Aunt Linda's Jeep, stop at Rite Aid, then make dinner and get Linda from the airport. It's also Rite Aid Employee shopping day...might have to see whatelse I can find that's not in the ad! I best get moving!!

Any chance you will be in MK on Friday June 10th? I am still looking for any takers on a mini meet at the Dole Whip Island at 1pm!

We're also planning on hitting MK on June 10th! We usually head back to the resort for a post-lunch rest before returning to the park, but since we just have the one day at MK we might skip it this time...so we'll try to make it to at 1 pm to meet up with everyone, too. Hoping for nice weather and low crowds that day to make full use of the 9 am-2 am window to get my MK fix.

Rachel had a lot of fun at the Prom! They went to dinner first and then went on to the Prom. Her teacher said that she danced almost nonstop! Here are pictures of her at home before she left.

We booked this cruise the week the announced them. Our first cruise we waited until 45 days out to tell the kids (Christmas present for February cruise), the second was with family, we told them 1.5 years out. (NOT MY IDEA) It may be hard to keep it in but it is worth it!

The castle painting is a Thomas Kinkade painting (the "Painter of Light") from his Disney Collection and is titled "A New Day at the Cinderella Castle". I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.

Sorry I've only been a lurker on this thread. For a long time I wasn't sure if we were going to get to go on this cruise. But thanks to a pretty good tax return we got our final payment made a few weeks ago and we're getting excited about going.

Does anyone still need a reservation at the Country Inn & Suites for the night before the cruise? I have a block of 10 rooms on hold (at a great rate), and only 3 of them are going to be used. Originally we were in a group of 8 families going, but now there are only 4 families going and we don't need all of the rooms. If you could use one of these rooms, please PM me.

Beth has us signed up on the FE list and we're getting excited about that. I ordered a few things this weekend, but wish I could come up with something more original. Unfortunately, my gang is not as crafty as some people on the DISboards.

Boy, do I like the sound of that! I'm really glad that at least some of you will be able to join us! That is very nice of you to offer the rooms to someone who may need them. I know that a lot of the hotels are already sold out for the night before our cruise. Luckily, I booked my room at the Radisson last December. I wasn't taking any chances on not getting what I wanted!

So Rebecca! How did the Dream Car do?? I hope well! I can remember when our boys had time for scouts. They always love the pinewood derby!!

He had a good time but unfortunately the judges must not have been DCL fans. He did not place in his Bear division but he had a good attitude about it. It was a good experience for him and he had a good time so that is what really matters. Plus now that the judging is over the car can go up on display in his room with his past cars. He did win 2 heats for the raingutter regatta before getting beat so he had some success. Maybe he can return next year and do even better.


I need to figure out what to do for FE's. I have a couple of ideas but people should be warned I am not very crafty. I am afraid my attempts at crafty would be pretty atrocious looking so I figure I need to go with something fairly idiot proof.

The vacation nightmares started for me this past weekend and I am starting to feel that need to start shopping for the trip. It really won't be too long now. I usually start a "box" of stuff going in my bedroom about this time and start throwing things in as I remember them or buy them. Less than 7 weeks to go for us....

Hope everyone stayed safe in the stormy weather over the weekend. This spring has been insane so far--80s one week and snow a week later in Illinois. All winter I was waiting for spring, now I'm thinking summer is a better wish.

I hear you all about the crafty thing. I'm not fabulously crafty either, but I had what I hope is a good idea for FE gifts and decided to go with it even if they don't look 100% perfect. It's the thought that counts, right?
