Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Hey mike, Good luck tonight. Let us know what is going on. I will likely be up and working.

Well that was fun!

Makes the cruise seem closer to reality now since I booked it back in Dec 2009. Palo still open Day 1 6-7 and 8-830. Remy had one opening on Day 2 also.

I did not look at Nassau since we are already booked directly with Atlantis.

CC Most everything open except the jet skis they are all booked single and double

I went ahead and booked the stingray adventure and the snorkel adventure. figure I should grab them now and can always cancel later. Somehow I feel like I trying to get Chef Mickey's at the 180 day mark or whatever day Disney is using these days.

I could not start the online check-in??? Will have to check in the morning.

That seems to be what happens. At midnight (Eastern time) you can book excursions, etc. but have to wait until sometime later in the morning to do your online checkin. Same thing happened to me at the 90 day mark.

My DD and I did not book Palo or Remy. For Nassau we booked Ardastra Gardens and for CC we only reserved some floats. Might try the water-trikes on CC, but did not see where you can book those online.

Good for you!:thumbsup2
There were no brunches available that anyone could seem to see.

Rose, we had snow Sunday and a little overnight  I am so ready for spring to actually BE here.

Regarding Palo reservations, last time we cruised we didn't book until 2 months before, so went to book upon boarding and had no problem getting a brunch reservation - in fact there were several - but that WAS a 7 day, so I'm thinking chances will be slimmer but I'm still hoping! :)

I have nothing planned for Nassau, not sure we will get off the ship. :confused3

I'm glad you were able to get some things you wanted.

Snow flurries again today.... no accumulation really, but will winter ever end?:sad2:

Snow? :scared1:

We had a tease last week with temps near 90. This week in the 50's and 60's. Better than snow but still..

I know -- my bald head is freezing again as both boys are playing baseball. Bring on the warmer temps again!

I think we have decided to do the Caribbean Queen Snorkeling Tour in Nassau that afternoon. Hoping most people will do morning excursions so we can spend that time maybe riding the Aquaduck and enjoying the pools.

We decided to do the Caribbean Snorkel also. I have to admit I am kinda scared of running up on some sharks, though!!:scared1:

Still haven't decided if we'll do a Castaway Cay excursion. We may just decide to do a water cycle or bicycle excursion when we get there.

Tonight at midnight our first time cruisers can book their excursions:goodvibes:surfweb:

I was not able to get the Nassau excursion I wanted - Atlantis Aquaventure. I eneded up booking a room at the Comfort Suites to have access to Atlantis. I can add 2 more people to the room if anyone is interested in spliting the cost

The spa was also pretty booked :sad1: Hopefully more time slots will be available once onboard

Last Saturday was downright HOT - especially for March. My opinion could be biased as we were sitting on metal bleachers facing west as we watched a baseball game in the 90 degree afternoon sun. My DH is the announcer for UTA Baseball this season, so I try to take the boys to several games. I am thinking we are definitely better off at the evening games -- but then tonight's game vs. Texas A&M will be cold and quite possibly wet. (I think we will sit this one out.)

How fun for your DH! UTA has a great baseball program. I was so cold last night waiting on DS12 to finish his baseball practice. Thankfully I had a blanket to sit on those cold bleachers and I sat in the car most of the time. Crazy weather!

Marcy - Stay warm!!

Holly - Agree, Saturday was HOT! That's the day I decided to start running. Didn't make it out the door until 11 and almost came back in due to the heat. :headache: We need the rain so I don't mind that so much but temperaturewise somewhere in between say maybe mid 70's would be really nice :)

Although I did not attend UTA (I am a purple-bleeding Horned Frog), I certainly have a soft spot in my heart for their baseball team. One of their former players who went on to play for the San Francisco Giants was a student in my math class the very first year of my teaching career. He had me for 8th grade math, and then when I transferred to the high school his parents requested he be in my class again for Geometry. Neat kid from a wonderful family. He actually ended up marrying his childhood sweetheart who was also in my class. I love sitting at the UTA games and seeing his name displayed on the outfield wall as a "Major League Maverick."

And yes, DH definitely has fun with this hobby/part-time job. He actually started out in radio as he was working his way through college and grad school. If you have been in the DFW enough years you may have actually heard him on the air -- he was on KVIL back in the "Ron Chapman Era" of the 80's and was on KZPS and Star 105 in the early 90's. He is now a counselor ... but I swear when he hit age 40 his mid-life crisis called him back to voice-over work and he started doing some announcing at the local high school football and basketball games. He was pretty excited to move up to NCAA this year. I guess there are certainly worse things to turn to as a mid-life crisis ... but it does make for kind of a rough schedule when you have three school-aged kids at home that I have to run to all the various after-school and evening activities on my own.

We decided not to book the Caribbean Snorket in the end. We are going to Discovery Cove pre-cruise and I figure that is where we will do our snorkeling for this trip since we are paying so much to go to DC in the first place.

Just wanted to introduce ourselves and say we are so happy to be joining you in a few months! We booked way back on the first day that Dream reservations opened and it felt so far, far away. Lol. We just finalized our pre and post cruise plans and booked our flights so now we are all set!

We are a family of 5 from Pittsburgh PA. Go Steelers!! :) My name is Joyce and my hubby Chris and we have 3 girls. Lauren 15, Sarah 13 and Kelsey 9. I saw the teen thread as well and will have my girls post there soon as well as they would love to chat before we cruise I'm sure.

Also joining us will be my sister Melissa and nephew Keegan (8). I'll have to make her pop by to say hi as well!

Well it looks like I have quite a long meet thread to read to start catching up so I'm going to get reading!!

Hi Everyone! Obviously I'm a bit behind on dropping by and saying hello, but better late than never, right?! I'm the sister she talked about, Melissa, also from Pittsburgh, PA. GO Penguins! My son Keegan (8) and I are joining their crew, and anxiously counting down the days! This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise, I can't wait for that Castaway Cay sunshine!
Lots of reading to catch up on, if any of you have boys around my son's age, let me know!

Welcome!!!

My son Nathan turns 9 just about a month before the cruise and I know there are a couple of other boys in that 8-10 range.

Welcome!

We also have boys in that age range. Technically my boys will be 11, 9, and 9 on our cruise -- but they all have birthdays the week after we return so they are closer to 12, 10, and 10. My twins would be in the Lab with Keegan.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

How much is it and how does it work? Do you actually use the room (like for showering after swiming, etc.)?
