Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

I still haven't decided on our pre-cruise plans yet. I checked on the Radisson but it is booked up. I found a hotel near the port at Cocoa Beach and I called to get some information about their shuttle service. They said that they share the shuttle service with their "sister" hotel, the Radisson.

I am thinking it is going to be WAY crowded with two hotels sharing the bus transfer. I really wanted to try to avoid the port parking cost!!

We may just stay the night near Disney (probably off-site) anyway, so I can do a little last minute shopping for my DD's 16th birthday, that we're celebrating on this cruise!!!

Anyone staying in Cocoa Beach before the cruise??

We will be at the Country Inn & Suites in Cape Canaveral. I believe there are at least four or five other families in this thread who are also booked there. Quite possibly there are more, but those are the ones I recall who have posted their plans. In fact, we were throwing around the idea of a "mini" DIS meet at the pool Saturday night since several of those families had kids around the same age. (Sorry, I do not recall how many had teen daughters since I was paying more attention to boys in the 10-12 range.)

Not sure if CI & S still has availability, but they do have the "park and cruise" special where you can leave your car there and take their shuttle to the port. (My understanding is that you have to select this at time of booking, if you want to add it later I believe they will charge a small fee for the shuttle.)

They also have a free breakfast ... so between the savings by not paying port parking rates and not having to feed three pre-teen boys, I think the room was a great deal. We booked several months ago, but at the time I believe the king guest room we got for my parents was around $110 and the one-bedroom suite for us was $130. I know I have read threads with others getting great rates at CI & S through Priceline, but we knew we wanted a suite and honestly thought the rate was good considering the free parking, shuttle, and breakfast so we decided to book directly rather than "chancing it" with Priceline. The "park and cruise" is an additional fee if you do not book directly, so those who want that feature may not be saving as much as it first appears on Priceline.

FE update. We are up to 21 cabins participating, so I have split it into 2 groups. I am trying to make it so you only have to deliver to 2 or 3 decks and not the whole ship. I will tweak the lists as we add more and as the GTY cabins get their assignments. We need to set a cutoff date so that everyone can get their list and have time to prepare their FE gifts. What do ya'll think would be a good date for a cutoff?
So.....
Is it June yet?!!!!:beach:
Beth

I think a good cut-off date would be the middle of April, which would give us a couple months to prepare (Maybe April 12th, 2 months exactly). Even if some of us haven't goten our room #'s yet, we can still get the lists and add the #'s later.

Does anyone know when they will get all the room #'s out?? I'm GTY and haven't gotten mine yet.

I checked on the CI&S, and for a standard room for that night is $198!!!!!
I should have booked something sooner!

YIKES!

I've been seeing a lot of threads on the main board about how much the cruise prices can go up in such a short period of time -- looks like the hotels certainly do, too. I can't remember how long ago we booked, but our one-bedroom suite was about $70 less than the current price of a standard room.

Good luck with your choice.

We are staying at CI&S the Friday and Saturday night before the cruise. Just a regular room I think was around $125/night or something like that.

Good Evening Fellow Cruisers!!!

You can mark us as Paid In Full!! Yay!!!!! :cool1:

94 days and counting!! Can't wait!!!! The weather here has been so blah! Rain, rain and more rain! The Ohio River is getting ready to creep over her banks and that will lead to flooding along the Kanawha River too! Thankfully, our home is not in a flood zone! I feel for those that are. :sad1: We are also expected to get up to 3" of snow tonight! Is it summer yet?? :beach:

I think we are going to pass on the FE this trip. It's a lot of fun, but I think we'll pass. It will be fun to see and hear what you all exchanged though! popcorn::

We will be at the CI&S on Saturday! Does anyone have any suggestions for a place for dinner for a large party that night? We'll have 12. I am sure it would be hard to get into someplace like Fishlips or Grills. We would even settle for a Denny's, IHOP, Friendly's, something of that sort?

I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy!! Let the packing begin!!

Anyone else at CI&S on that Saturday? Or any of the ones I listed above who are not really staying there? (My memory is not all that it used to be ... this is my 40th birthday cruise, and the age is showing.)

I think the suggestion was to try and possibly meet at the pool around 8 pm. When we get closer to the date we should see if this is still workable with everyone's plans. I know my boys would love to meet some others before we even get on the ship.

We have not stayed at the port before, so I am not sure ... but I think I have read on some trip reports about an Italian restaurant close to the CI&S. Can't remember the name right now ???

You are correct about us. I am soo excited. BTW, this year is my 40th as well. :thumbsup2 I am glad that we make our reservations already.

Holly(Fab5Family) and Fran(Texas Disney Fan), I'm also celebrating my 40th (in August) on this cruise. Hope we can meet and have a celebration drink together.

We are at CI&S. Can't wait to meet everyone.

I can't think of a better way to celebrate a 40th birthday than with a cruise. BTW, what part of Texas do you call home? We are right in the middle of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

Sounds like a plan. I am from Southeast Texas. About 1 1/2 from Houston.

Hello All, We will be paid in full soon. I guess that one of the small benefits of being a first time cruiser. I have been avoiding the boards lately since I was getting a little disappointed at all the "poor" reviews of Dream. I'm hoping they get things running a little more smoothly before we get there.

Everyone have a good weekend.

Please don't send us any more water,:scared1: The Ohio river is forecasted to hit 56 feet in Cincinnati which really starts to mess with downtown and many homes and business have already been flooded. It really has been a crazy winter.

I am watching the news and they just showed a house falling into the river in Ohio:scared1: I am sending those of you in Ohio some pixie dust for no more water!!!
Anyone else at the Radisson besides Tammy and Rachel? This will be our 4th pre-cruise stay there as Taylor loves their pool and I like that I could sign up in advance for the shuttle. We will be on the 10:00 shuttle with Tammy and Rachel:woohoo: Now we just have to decide where to eat dinner!
Can't wait until Monday so I can book our excursions (No worries for Palo or Remy as DD is too young)
But really the most pressing issue is.....
Is it June yet?!!!:beach:

For our first Disney Cruise, we stayed at the Radisson but it was raining the day we arrived, so we were not able to us that beautiful pool. Hope to get to use it this time! Maybe we will see you there. Not sure where we will eat dinner either. Hadn't really thought about it yet. Although Rachel is old enough, we have decided not to do Palo or Remy either. So on Monday I will just do online checkin and book my Nassau excursion (Ardastra Gardens).

We're at the Radisson as well and also on the 10:00 shuttle. :woohoo:

I guess I will see all of you in front of the Radisson as we wait to board the 10:00 shuttle!

Looks like a decent sized group. I do remember seeing there were lots of boys just a bit older than my son. Nathan turns 9 in May but I am sure he would love to meet some kids before the cruise. Our daughter will be 6.5 - anyone there with girls that age? We plan to eat dinner at Grills on Saturday night but I am sure we will want to turn in pretty early that night to get ready for the big day.

So is it June yet? :lmao:

As of 3:00pm CST we are PAID!!!! Yeah BOOOOYYYEEEEE!
So happy that we got that out of the way. We are at the Residence Inn by Marriott Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach
the night before.

Can anyone explain the iron on graphics for me ? Are they for anyone/everyone going on this cruise? Specifically step by step how do you get them from a image in a post here on the forum to on a shirt. I am definately not a very knowledgeable when it comes to crafty / homemade things.
