Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Hope everyone who is getting snow stays safe and warm:goodvibes

We've had some really nice weather here lately (not trying to rub in it ;)) and it just makes want June to hurry up and get here. More than the cold weather and snow did, LOL.

I've started my cruise shopping - clothes, misc stuff. Need to get the teenage out looking at swimsuits because it will take her 3 months to find any she likes :headache: Not that I'm any better.

Really wish airfare would come down and I could feel good about buying our tickets. Right now its running just under half the cost of the cruise for 3 roundtrip tickets for us! That's about $500 more than I'm used to paying (high end) for airfare to Orlando. I just can't bring myself to pull the trigger and buy it at that price. Not yet atleast. I really would like to get that settled though. Depending on when we fly out my DD may take the ACT that morning. So until we get our flight to Orlando resolved we've got that hanging in the air.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hmmmm, all this talk of paying things off has made me realize how quickly March 14 is coming up! Yay! I really need to spend some time looking at Nassau excursions!

Ouch! Pricey tickets! I'm glad I got mine months ago and from my favorite airline JETBLUE:thumbsup2
Awesome deal too! With direct flights both ways!:yay:

Yay, we're going to have a heat wave here the rest of the week, temps between 30 and 40!:cool1:
And no snow!:goodvibes

Congrats to Ashman on the weight loss!!! Way to go:cool1:
I have lost a little and have a goal to lose some more before the trip mainly to be in better shape for all the walking:dance3:

About the Nassea discussion, I think we want to go to the pirate museum and maybe see Christchurch. Since we get 2 full beach days on CC.
We're still up in the air but we don't think we are gong to book any excrusions.

anyone has ideas, please share them!!!

Thanks guys:flower3:

Hmmmm, all this talk of paying things off has made me realize how quickly March 14 is coming up! Yay! I really need to spend some time looking at Nassau excursions!

I can't believe it's almost that time! We are going to splurge for our CC excursions, so we'll probably just stay on the ship at Nassau. We talk about Atlantis every time we cruise in Nassau, but I just can't justify the price so we skip it. Can't wait!! :goodvibes

Rose - I've heard great things about JetBlue. Unfortunately I think we'd have to drive down to Austin to fly JetBlue. That's about 2-3 hours and now way I could talk my husband into that. So I'm just sitting here, crossing my fingers that American or Southwest come down a bit in price. All the fare sales now end on May 24th so I'm waiting for them to open up the next round of sales and hopefully it'll give us some relief.

I don't think we're booking anything for Nassau either. Atlantis sounds fun but I can't justify the price especially with 2 beach days at CC. So I'm thinking we'll just get off the ship in Nassau and walk around a bit. Mainly just to say we did. Not sure what we'll want to hit. Still trying to decide if we want to book anything for CC. The waverunner excursion looks fun but which day to book it for??

Then there's the spa stuff. I know both my daughter & I would like to book some spa things. It's just a matter of what and when. And if I can't get cheaper airfare then that'll cut back on the extras we book... well, what I'm willing to pay for. DD is great with saving money so we can still book spa stuff for her and just have her pay for it with her money. And she may have to fund her own coffee/smoothie addiction. ;)

My husband is just looking forward to relaxing and work not being able to call him & make him log on to a pc to "fix" something. So he's easy. He'll go with whatever I plan.

Our family leaves home for this vacation in 100 days since we are spending the week before the cruise at WDW/Cocoa Beach. It is starting to get a bit more real and I know it will be here before we realize it.

Going to make final payments on everything next week and I need to start getting my final budget together soon so I know what I should book in a few weeks.

Thought about booking onboard for the Fantasy in late 2012 but the prices are just higher than I want to pay. We are considering 'jumping ship' to another cruise line for our next cruise. Just not sure we can justify DCL's cost too much longer especially as the kids get older.

Well I have been lurking for too long. It is getting so close now isn't it?
Let me reintroduce myself - 4 of us cruising in two cabins - 7650 and 7652 -
me (Irene), DH, DS (15) and MIL (92). This will be our second cruise; our first was on the Magic in 2009. But that might be in my signature :)

I have signed up to do the FE exchange! I am really going to like doing that again. I already have one item ready. I love to get postcards from people's hometown/state, so I'll probably give those too.

Ok, call me math challenged...when is 90 days out? That's when repeat cruisers can book Palo etc. right? March ???

I am going to try for the Palo brunch........I think! DH and I did a Palo
dinner on the Magic and I liked it, but it is hard to arrange for the other family members to eat without us. Better to do a brunch all together. And I am interested to see if we will have a view then. Not much to see at night! Our ressie was pretty late for dinner.

Nassau...we think we will not book anything and just get off the ship for two hours and walk around. I'm interested in getting to see all parts of the ship and having time for a spa visit. Hot stone massage, loved that on the Magic!

What are you most looking forward to on this cruise? I think after seeing the new ship, I am most looking forward to better managing our CC days. Getting off the ship early and getting a nice spot and maybe getting in the water! How about you all?

We're not doing any excursions. Nassau doesn't interest us. And being on the new ship we're going to spend all our time exploring it:thumbsup2:cool1:
Except when we plan to relax on the adult beach on CC:cloud9:

Definitely booking something there:thumbsup2

Hi Irene:wave2:
90 days out is March 14, we're planning on brunch at Palo also.

I am most looking forward to on this cruise:

Seeing old cruising buddies:grouphug:
No housework
Awesome food
PINK! with the specially made for Disney champagne:thumbsup2
AQUADUCK!
Enchanted art
New show Believe
did I mention food?
and drinks of the day
I'm so excited now!
Was I supposed to pick just one?:rotfl:

We are skipping Nassau, too. Hoping everyone else gets off the ship so we can explore the Dream on our own. :) :rotfl2:

I swear these little smileys cheer me up. :cool1:  :yay: :woohoo: popcorn::

We are paid in full and now have our flights booked and hotel reservations made . Come on June.

I have read every morsel I could find on the Dream and we are so excited. The hardest part will be deciding what to do first.....:surfweb:

That being said one event I read about peaked my interest, it was a mixology class. This sounds like a fun event that I would never think about doing normally but would be something fun to do with my husband. My problem or concern is that neither of us are big drinkers and likely could not ever finish all the drinks it seems you make. Have any of you ever seen cases where Disney has a couple rate? Pricing more than for a single but less than two, but only making one of each drink to share?

Have any of you ever done this class on other cruises? My husband did the beer tasting on our last cruise and enjoyed it so I figure I can sway him to do this one with me.

Here in Indiana the weather just keeps coming. Our schools were just cancelled again yesterday and more bad weather is on tap for the next few days. We are already to Friday the 10th for makeup days so any more and my girls will be missing classes. :sad2: Hopefully it will hit over the weekend any be gone again by Monday. Regardless we have booked airline tickets so we are going.

Congrats on paying off your trip too:thumbsup2
The mixology class/tasting that was on the Dream?
I'm so in!!!!!!:woohoo:
And the martini tasting again with Janice, Paige and Angela. That was fun!
Any other girls want to join us on that one..... well provided that it is offered.
I don't know what the activities are yet.

We are skipping Nassau, too. Hoping everyone else gets off the ship so we can explore the Dream on our own. :) :rotfl2:

I agree, love the moving smileys. :rotfl2:

I think we might have a problem with the everybody get off the ship in Nassau so we can explore the Dream on our own plan.....how do we get the other cruisers off? :rotfl:

Hey BananasTwo, are you up near Erie? I worked for a year up there. I'm actually in Indiana, PA.

Happy Thursday:goodvibes

Hi Rose! You bring up some good points! Of course the no housework and no cooking is tops! Meeting new cruising buddies...I do hope some of us actually meet. I did the FE on my last cruise, but I guess I didn't make friends enough on line before because there wasn't really a meet on the cruise. Will we be meeting at some time? I understand there is not so much time on a 5 day cruise too....
Pink champagne? Oh, good idea. How did I miss that on the Magic? Is it just available on the dinner menu?
Enchanted art...read about this somewhere, also saw the little video on the Disney app. It sounds very cool.
Aquaduck...well I hope DS goes on it and reports back. I have never liked water slides so I think I will sit this one out.
Shows, must see a show. Not DH's favorite so sometime we skip them.
Drinks of the day...in the lounges? or at dinner? I think we drank too
much wine last cruise, I think I'll go more fruity tropical drink this time!

Ewineme- Mixology class sounds fun. We did two wine tasting classes on the Magic. They were great. It is too much to drink, but I bet they just charge
per person, not per set of drinks.

So much to do, I already want to do another cruise and I haven't gone on this one yet! I have got the bug!

PS. Hoping we will see the new Pirates of the Carribean movie on board! I know other people have mentioned this, maybe in this thread. Has anyone read news about this possibly happening?

Yeah, we are getting closer! We are planning to go to Blue Lagoon to see the sea lions or dolphins when we are in Nassau. No Palo as DD is too young and I would feel silly eating alone (plus I don't want to miss the main dining room!) I will still be up to try to get excursions for Nassau and CC as early as possible on 3/14. SO what am I looking forward to?.....
FE, Castaway Rays, BBC's, CC, FE, did someone say mixology?!(I don't do gin so I guess the martini one would be out and I have done the margarita one(hic!), CC, did I say FE?, Aquaduck, CC, FE, interactive art, being in a cabin next to another DIS'er, the rays!, CC, Villians!, making new memories with DD, FE, Disney photographers, meeting new people (especially DISer's!), shopping, lounging and reading, Pirates!, good food, CC, did I say FE?.....
Aaargh!!!! Isit June yet?!!!!!:beach:

It's me again:teeth: Here is our tally so far on the FE. We are at 18 cabins participating including 2 that are not totally sure. One is because of those darn gates , but seeing as that is Marci and we all want to help her celebrate the end of her chemo, I am sure we can find a way around those gates:tiptoe:
So....
Girls 0-4= 1
Girls 5-10= 2
Girls 11-13= 5
Girls 14-17= 4
Boys 0-4= 1
Boys 5-10=3
Boys 11-13= 6
Boys 14-17= 4
Young Adults 18-21= 5
Adults 22+ = 31

Just remember that we will hopefully add more and then split the list into 2 groups if we need to, so numbers will change, but this gives you an idea of where we are at. Each FE group will have a minimum of 10 cabins and a max of 20 cabins. Since we are at 18, I will start splitting when we reach 23 cabins.
We would love to have others join us :jumping1:
Just pm me your info!
Beth
Is it June yet?:beach:
Just sayin'!!!!

OK this seems to be the vacation of indecision for me and I think I am switching plans again. The last plan was to book a snorkeling excursion in Nassau and the stingrays at CC. I think our new plan is to skip all excursions on the cruise and we will just snorkel, swim with the rays and do the dolphin swim at Discovery Cove prior to the cruise. I figure for the first time snorkeling it might be better to not have to deal with the waves especially for my DD. This way the kids will have time to warm up to the stringrays (I was afraid they might get scared at CC and by the time they got over their fear it would be over) and they can spend as much time with them as they would like. Plus the bonus is we can do the dolphin swim as a family and get to spend just a really nice day enjoying DC. This also gives us more time to explore the ship on Nassau day. My husband would still like to get off the ship for a little while in Nassau but maybe just check out the port area and get back on the boat.
