Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Good Morning Everyone!!

Tracking the Dream this morning. She is out doing sea trials right now.

Getting ready to go to jewelers to pick up DD's senior ring. She is so excited!

Have a great day!

Well, marching band is officially over. We lost last night in the 1st round of the playoffs. I will miss it, but I am looking forward to getting more rest and being able to read the DIS boards more than once a month! As a freshman parent I did sign up to chaperone a few practices, but then also got recruited to help with refreshments for the band (water coolers during the game and soda's after halftime) It was a tiring bit of work at the beginning, but became exhausting later when the chair of refreshments got knocked over by our cooler cart and hurt both wrists and a couple of weeks later fell off her deck about 10 feet when the railing gave way. Needless to say she could no longer help although she so wanted too. I still have to clean out the coolers from last night and dry them out so I can store them and pack the leftover sodas in a couple of coolers, but i can do that at me leisure. We don't need the coolers until Dec 3rd for the pizza party for our unloading the fruit sale truck night. At least today i could catch up on about 30 pages of this thread. I can't wait for the cruise!

Awesome flight deal!
We did well also, with about $200 per person direct flights to MCO as well!
I'm guessing I can't get much lower than that because Syracuse is such a small airport to fly out of. But I'm thrilled with what I got, and it's Jetblue, which is my preferred airline:thumbsup2

We tried Jetblue whose prices were comparable out of Newark, but the times weren't early enough. We only have two days at Universal including the day we arrive, so we had to get early, early flights to make the most out of the day.

Ana - - so glad to see you posting, Girlfriend! We, too, can't wait for the big reunion in just a few short months. :grouphug: So, Universal, huh?!? :rotfl: Maybe we can meet up and eat somewhere at the Citywalk or something one night before the cruise? Would be super fun! Anyway, hope all is well and hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving.

Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving too. And have a great Disney trip. You guys must be so excited. We'll definitely have to chat beforehand to see if we can arrange something beforehand. How many days are you going ahead of time?

Great deal on flights! I noticed you are staying at the Royal Pacific before the cruise....we are staying there right after the cruise! I booked one night through AAA and it was $350. :scared1: But, that was for 5 of us in a club level room that comes with an evening bar and continental breakfast. We are only staying one night, but will spend two days at the parks using our room keys as express passes. I love how Universal lets you do that.....check in early and hit the rides before actually going to your room, then letting you use your room key the next day even though you have already checked out. That is worth $350 to us!
When we are on the cruise, you will have to let me know how Harry Potter was!:yay:

I signed up for Yapta to see if current prices drop on the hotel. That is how I got my amazing flight deals. Love that the flight prices I got were so high the day before and went back up the day after. It was definitely a score. So I'm hoping for the same outcome with the Royal Pacific. So so excited about Harry Potter. I am a Harry Potter-aholic so am super excited to go. I plan on waiting in any line we have to in order to get to see all of the Wizarding World of HP. Including bringing Nintendo DSs or ITouchs to keep my kids entertained while we wait. Hoping those room keys will be worth the cost of the room.

Gooooooooood Morning Fellow Cruisers!!!!

I have enjoyed keeping up with the Dream the last few days!!! I am glad to see Sea Trials are going well...at least for what I've read. I hope nothing has changed. It's getting closer!!

As for us, Football season continues on! We won Friday night in the first round of playoffs. Next game will be Friday or Saturday..which ever our coach desides. we are now the lower seed, so we chose. We do know our competitor is a local team, South Charleston and we will play at the University of Charleston stadium, Otherwise known as Laidley Field. S.Charleston beat Parkersburg yesteday 62-7! I listened to the game on the radio/web yesterday. It is NOT going to be an easy game, but our boys will do thier best! They have already set school records...and one of those is going 10-1. Now let's make it 11-1!!!!
Connor's football banquet is Tuesday night, then we are completely done with that. Once HS football is over, then Colton will be in the Pep Band for basketball games...but I don't "have" to stay for those. We'll see. I'm not much of a basketball fan.
Ana, have you looked at maybe a late evening flight the night before, staying at an inexpensive hotel that night, then checking into the RPH the next morning? Even though you are paying for another nights stay, if your airfare is less, it might balance out or be cheaper. Plus, you might get a few extra hours in the park. This is what we intend to do....drive in Thursday, stay where ever, then check into, Hopefully, the HRH for Friday, then the CI&S for Saturday. Good Luck!

Disney Dreaming.....

The best part of my week: dreaming and planning for next summer's vacation.
It is starting to get cold here. Winter will be here soon.
This is a busy week. Work is crazy busy. Wednesday is a dress rehearsal for Nutcracker at a local school, then we go see the Rockette's Christmas Spectacular. Thursday night I will be fixing chili for a Chili-Cookoff potluck at work on Friday. I can't believe it is less than 2 weeks until Thanksgiving.
Have a great week.

I have not been keeping up with this thread very much but it looks like the group is continuing to grow. We are getting very excited about this cruise. The updates about the Dream get me more excited every time I hear something new.

We have our pre-cruise stay mostly booked. We currently have June 2 - 10 at Pop Century. That may change to June 4 - 10 if we end up having work issues taking that much time off. We added the two days because staying June 2-10 gives us free dining which means that the 2-10 was cheaper than June 4-10. Two extra days of room, ticket and food for less? Seemed like a no-brainer. I hope things will work out. We will then spend June 10-11 in the Cocoa Beach area. We are thinking of spending the 11th at Kennedy Space Center but nothing has been finalized.

This will be the longest vacation we have ever taken. I am sure we will have a great time but I bet we will be longing to get home by the end of the cruise. Might help with that post-vacation depression just a bit.

MMMMM !
Chili cookoff! YUMMMM!

Sounds like everyone is enjoying their fall season with band and football and
chili cookoffs and such.....
I love fall!:goodvibes
But today here is like spring!
It's been sunny all morning and about 65degrees.:goodvibes
Starting to get cooler and darker now though, so a bit more raking to do and then I'll settle in for some inside chores.
My first sad evening while my BF is working that evening shift:sad1:

We too are still in football marching band season. Our team won the 1st round of playoffs. The 2nd round in Saturday at noon. We are expected to win that game as well. Plus, my son is also in orchestra and they have rehearsals this coming week and 1st round region tryouts tuesday night.
Staying this busy sure makes time go by fast!!

I've been watching the Dreams progress as well. So exciting!!

hi everyone!! hope everyone is having a good evening! it's almost crash time for me! but i'm taking a break from programing Christmas music :rolleyes1 though i really need to be working on it if we want to have our display ready Thanksgiving weekend!!
the girls had their first volleyball tournament on Friday, didn't work out so well for them, they had a rough loss and oh the tears! the bright side of them being out so early, was we got to head down to girl scout camp hours earlier then I had anticipated! they had a blast at camp this weekend! They made scarfs, decorated jeans, reverse dyed shirts, and went horse back riding!
going to get some serious Christmas and birthday shopping done this week!! 2 b-days down, 3 to go! :scared1:
DMMom good luck on your chili cook off! that's what for dinner tomorrow! gonna be a great day for it here in the DFW area!

Hope everyone stays healthy and has a great work week!:dance3:

Good Morning All!!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Ours was pretty good. As I posted earlier, we picked up my DD's senior ring on Saturday. On Sunday, we spent a very nice evening with one of my sister's and my BIL. Rachel just had to show off that senior ring! We had a wonderful dinner and spent time visiting. Always nice to spend time with family!:goodvibes

Also tracked the Dream doing her sea trials. This morning she is back in port at Eemshaven. Hope everything went well.pixiedust:

Congrats to Rachel on the Sr ring! Did she have y'all turn it? Do y'all do that? It was (and still is) a tradition in my hometown. Can you believe graduation is getting closer and closer? I am very emotional about it sometimes.

I want some of that, too, Rose!:goodvibes

Hello to eveyone on the thread! I have said that I would do better to follow, but life has been, well, stupid busy, as it is for everyone else. We take on too much, don't we? Anyway, we celebrated the 235th USMC birthday last weekend. Here is a couple of pics of us. My in-laws attended, as well as my children, since it is our last one as an "active duty family." Please forget my dress, as that is what I will wear if there is a formal night on the Dream.:rotfl:

I had completely forgotten about that tradition (it's been a long time since I graduated!). Rachel didn't get her ring along with everyone else. We ordered it through a local jeweler so she didn't participate in a ring ceremony. Maybe I'll see if she can get all of the family to turn it at Thanksgiving.
