Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

We will be at the Boardwalk Villas the night before the cruise. Anyone else?

Right now, we have BLT booked, but we are planning on trying to change to BCV at our 7 month mark so, if successful, we'll be just across the "pond." :goodvibes

Hello Fellow Cruisers!!

Wow! what a weekend! It all went by too fast! We left at 7am Saturday and got home at 1030 last night...Colton's bus got in at Midnight. The band entered the competition in the 23rd position (out of 25) and finished in 17th! Not bad! I thought the performance was AWESOME and they were perfect! (I guess a mother's eyes don't see what a judge's do!) It was SO cold in Hershey! The sun was shining, and that was great, but when the wind blew, it had a bite! And it blew a LOT! LOL The Hershey Chocolate World was great and we had fun there. We ate dinner at a great little Italian place called Fenicci's. it was WONDERFUL!!! Of course, this competition took place in the "off" season for Hershey Parks...the amusement park was closed and the Holiday activities hadn't started yet....I would like to go back, but spend a longer weekend.

Crystal, we need to remove my SIL mweaverrn from the list. :sad1: She and her family are not going to be able to go with us on the cruise.

As for us....our tentative plans are to arrive on Thursday and stay somewhere cheap. Check into the Hard Rock on Friday morning and hit the park. Check out Saturday morning, hit the park again, and then check in to the CI&S Saturday night. On the return we are going to go to WDW for a few days...not sure yet where we are staying though. I would like to go back to the Poly or the Cont. but the boys have been asking to go back to AKL. I'd like to be on the monorail if we are only going to do a few days....we'll see.....mostly it will depend on what we can afford at the time!

Time to start dinner...boys will be home from school soon. I saw the lunch menu today and Connor will be starved. and they will be both be tired after our busy weekend.

Just found this:

But DCL also pays attention to the Disney Dream's activities and entertainment for adults. Palo and Remy are two exclusive restaurants that cater to adult guests, complementing the ship’s variety of spa services, lounges, and nighttime entertainment designed for guests ages 18 years and up.

And this:

Once you turn 18, DCL considers you an adult and allows access to every area on the ship. Of course, you must still be 21 to purchase alcohol.

and on that same page:

In addition to the other adult-exclusive activities that 18-to 22-year-olds are welcome to, DCL holds "College Club" activities throughout the cruise starting at either 10 or 10:30 p.m. on the first night of your cruise. The College Club is a casual get-together to help everyone meet and find people their age to hang out with. Times for the College Club can be found in your Personal Navigator which is distributed daily. I have found that attending the College Club social on the first night of the cruise is a great way to enhance the cruise experience and keep from being bored. On my past several cruises, we have all become really close, and many of us still keep in touch. The College Club Social is held in Diversions on the Magic and the Outlook Cafe on the Wonder. Throughout the cruise, there are a mix of other College Club activities, such as lunches in Parrot Cay on sea days, gatherings in Diversions, and meets at the Cove Cafe for smoothies and coffee. On the Magic, College Club Socials are timed so that everyone can meet up in Diversions, and then head over to the night's events in Rockin' Bar D together.

I'm really hoping that Sean finds the college age group.
I mean I'd really like to show him Palo for brunch and the adult beach and perhaps a couple of adult comedy shows like that scavenger hunt, but
Bob and I do want our alone time too.;)
I know Bob is already like this:rolleyes::headache: about having Sean tagging along with us all cruise.

Although, he's never done it before, the last few cruises that Sean went on with me, he found some girl to hang out with the entire week and we only saw him for dinner.

So here's hoping again!pixiedust:

I can’t believe it myself, originally it was supposed to be 22 family members on this lastest Disney family cruise. But at last count some more family heard about about little trip of ours and wanted to join us. At last count it will 50 of my family on this cruise. This my not be a record, but it definitely is a record for us. And just imagine it was only 3 of us that went on our first Disney Cruise in 2000! All I can say is wow!

Wow! That is fantastic. I wish I could get some of my family to cruise with me and my DD. It will only be the two of us. Well, the two of us and all of my new DIS Friends!!!:grouphug:

That is great!!! We keep trying to convince our families to come cruise with us, but they scoff at the thought. Oh well, persistence is the key, right?!? ;)

Oh wow!!! and I thought we had a big group!!! That is awesome!

a day of cleaning is on tap for me today. Tomorrow I am going with Connor's school on a field trip. It's a museum that has different displays and a hands on area....which these kids are probably too old for....there's probably a movie too. Then the boys are off on Thursday for Veteren's day...ahhhh, sleeping in! Then Friday Steve is off...I am hoping we can get the Christmas lights out. Sunny and 70 seems like the ideal weather to do that! Friday night is our first play off game for football. It's against a team we beat 49-21. Let's hope we can do that again! Then Saturday Steve and Connor are going to the Ohio State/Penn State game. When does life slow down...for just a bit??

Well, it's official - - we'll be at the Beach Club (Villas) from June 9-12 prior to our cruise. DD and I stayed at the BCV for one night prior to our September cruise and we really loved it, and I'm very much looking forward to having a couple days to really explore the resort (and Stormalong Bay). :goodvibes

Crystal, we stayed at The Beach Club (not the villas) on our last trip. We LOVE The Beach Club! the closeness to EPCOT, the pool is WONDERFUL and they always had stuff going on at the pool....kareoke, contests, etc for the kids. I would stay there again in a heartbeat! The first room they gave us over looked a rooftop. Blah. I said something to the bellhop ("I guess the boys should have brought a basketball." he said, "Why?" I said, "so we could take advantage of this rooftop!") He said, "hang on a second" and he went in the hall and got on his walky talky. He came back in and said, "I have another room for you." It was on the first floor, just 3 doors down from the gift shop and "food court". We got a ton of use out of our mugs on that trip! and we didn't have any issues with noise. It was a great location!

Hello everyone. The beach club is one property I've always wanted to stay at. Not this trip though. We are staying close to universal because except for one day at Hollywood studios, we will be at universal pre-cruise. The kids (and I) want to see the Harry Potter area.
I'm hoping to make a Disney trip early December in the next few years and stay at the Beach club. We went last thanksgiving and loved all the decorations:santa: Plus, the weather was great!!

I am so much more excited since the Dream has come out of "hiding" and will soon be sailing to Florida. It's going to be even more exciting when we start getting trip reports!:dance3:

My son's school is also in football playoffs. They won District and 1st playoff game is Friday. Fun for the marching band!! My son is on the drumline and he loves the games!

Everyone have a great holiday!

We never have a shortage of family willing to cruise with us.... as long as we're paying anyway:lmao:

Mamiamjo, I don't think I have you added to the first page list of DISers who are cruising...I must have missed your information. Do you mind reposting whatever information you want shown so I can get you on the list? Sorry about the oversight! :flower3:

Happy holidays everyone. Hope you are having a great fall. Things are well here. Everyone except DH is getting over major colds, but hopefully we are all on the mend and remain that way.

Love all you folks posting videos and pictures of the Dream. I too got a little misty eyed when I heard the horn. I am so excited.

Crystal: Paige and I looked through our Shutterfly photo album today twice. Loved seeing pics of you 3. Made us so excited for the reunion next year. :) XOXO

We booked our flights last week. So excited!!!! We got a super good deal too. $182 total per person direct into Orlando. It was such a steal!!! We haven't booked our hotel yet, but I'm pretty sure we are staying at the Royal Pacific so we can hit Universal before the cruise for a couple of days. Again, sooooo excited!!!!

Talk to y'all soon,

Great deal on flights! I noticed you are staying at the Royal Pacific before the cruise....we are staying there right after the cruise! I booked one night through AAA and it was $350. :scared1: But, that was for 5 of us in a club level room that comes with an evening bar and continental breakfast. We are only staying one night, but will spend two days at the parks using our room keys as express passes. I love how Universal lets you do that.....check in early and hit the rides before actually going to your room, then letting you use your room key the next day even though you have already checked out. That is worth $350 to us!
When we are on the cruise, you will have to let me know how Harry Potter was!:yay:

Ana - - so glad to see you posting, Girlfriend! We, too, can't wait for the big reunion in just a few short months. :grouphug: So, Universal, huh?!? :rotfl: Maybe we can meet up and eat somewhere at the Citywalk or something one night before the cruise? Would be super fun! Anyway, hope all is well and hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving.

Happy Friday Everyone!!!:yay::yay:

Hope everyone had a great week! Seems a lot of you already know each other. Hope to get to know all of you on the upcoming cruise. Really getting excited!:cheer2:

Have a fantastic weekend!

No problem, you do have us listed. We're in the 4C cabin on deck 7( I forget the cabin #)

Awesome flight deal!
We did well also, with about $200 per person direct flights to MCO as well!
I'm guessing I can't get much lower than that because Syracuse is such a small airport to fly out of. But I'm thrilled with what I got, and it's Jetblue, which is my preferred airline:thumbsup2

I'll be pretty busy all weekend so hope it's good for you all.

I'll probably be on a bit more in the coming months.
BF Bob just got shifted (mandatory) to the 3pm to 11:30pm shift.
I work 9 to 5:30, so I'm bummed about it.:sad2: I won't see him most evenings until it's over in April.

So, my evenings will be filled with little projects, catching up on tv shows I dvr'ed, perhaps exercising:rolleyes: and of course catching up online:goodvibes:surfweb:
