Disney Dream - July 27, 2014 - 4 night

I'm Lauren. Originally from nj, now live in SW PA. Will be traveling with hubs, and sons (5 and 16).

It's snowing here. We have about 4 inches already. Forecasted 10 -12". I am ready for the heat!

I am Joanne. I am from Michigan. I cannot wait for this cruise. I"m hoping its not going to be unbareably hot, even though we just endured the worst winter ever. We just got another i think 3 inches last night. I will also Try my hardest not to complain either if its really hot. LOL I will also try hard not to complain about the heat. But we'll see about that. I'm more of a 60 to 80 degree type of person.
I am traveling with my hubby Brian and two daughters Heather(26) and Haley(20 as of next Sun)
This is will be our 3rd cruise 1st one RC(hubby and me, my parents and 4 siblings and spouses) and will be #2 for Disney. I want to say i loved RC, but Disney is The best. And to many to count trips to WDW. One being on our honeymoon.
I'm excited to meet all of you too and excited to do this FE this time around, we didn't do it last time because i had no clue about it. We have already started thinking about what we are going to do or buy.

This will be our first Disney cruise….traveling with large crew. My three kids (13,10 & 6) plus hubby and mom and my best friend and her two kids (12, 8).

I just booked this cruise for myself and my DD (20). We are doing an 8 day cruise on another line and I offered her a few nights at WDW but she wanted to do this cruise instead, this will be my 6th Disney Cruise but first on one of the new, larger ships.
We are excited, I have requested to join the FB group and will read through all the posts here. Definitely want to do the FE, we have had so much fun doing them!

Gary, thank you for the info! Maybe we can do the same if our number are about the same. Give to a certain number of people each day in groups.

As we get closer I am going to put together a spreadsheet with all of our information and them we'll figure out the details. So the end of May cut off should be good...

We'll try and figure out a meet based on your info as well. Again, thank you for sharing your experiences with us!

I think I have a little problem...I started buying things today. Saw some stuff I couldn't pass up that I wasn't sure would be around in a couple months!

Gary or anyone else that has been on a Disney cruise...did you try the adult only brunch? I think we are going to do that one day. My travel agent said she preferred that instead of dinner.

I also chose the early dinner since we have a 5 year old. Did anyone else do the early? I think I might change it.

The brunch is awesome, well worth it!
We will be doing the late dinner as it's just myself and DD (20). This works for us as we usually take a mid-afternoon nap, which enables us to stay up past dinner for some adult time.

Other FE gifts we received. Small tube sun tan lotion, eye patches, tattoo's & bandanna's (all pirate themed) small tissue packets, note paper, pens, burn gel, hand sanitizer, all things we appreciated because we didn't bring. No wrong gifts and gifts don't need to cost alot.

A group meet would be awesome, but last time we scheduled one right after we sailed, but there was also a DVC meeting at the same time that was not known about untill we were on the ship. I went to meet people from our group, my wife went to the DVC meeting. Some people we never physically met because they went to the DVC meeting. Maybe we can come up with a plan so we can contact everyone at the last minute if meeting needs to change time or location. (I think we had a location issue as well?).

Not sure if we can form a group and give our room numbers and give it to main desk so we can somehow use it to contact the group if someone has a idea to meet at different times, or castaway cay or whatever. It might be fun to all get together for pirate night, or fireworks, or a movie, or show. I am sure some want to join this group and maybe keep a distance, but some might want to stay connected a little more. I don't think cell phones work after on ship.

If anyone belongs to http://www.pinterest.com/ you can go there and search on FE gifts, you will find a lot of information and see lots of pictures of ideas. It is a fun time and can be as easy or as elaborate as you make it. Some people make or buy their FE's off of Etsy or Ebay, I bought a Mickey/Minnie bag from the $1 store, then used fabric paint and put our names on it. It worked out great for us and we have used it each time.

Another day off work today due to snowstorm. So I have been working on some lose ends for cruise.

We have our flights all figured out and paid for. Actually we got two flights for free due to getting asked to take a later flight home on our last vacation. We will rent a car to drive from Orlando Airport to Coco Beach.

In the past we have just flown in on the day of the cruise, but after getting asked on the way to Orlando, and then actually getting bumped or our return flight, I am guessing it it wise to arrive a day early.

Is anyone else doing anything like this? I will now be looking for a place to stay near cruise ship on Saturday night.

I also will be looking for the best way to get to WDW after the cruise.....any suggestions? I think last time we paid and took the Disney cruise bus.

We are flying in the day before, taking a limo to the Port area and staying at a Marriott there, there are a few that will shuttle you to the port for the cruise. Afterwards we are staying on for another cruise (different cruise line) but we have always just taken the Disney bus when headed to the WDW.

I'm not sure if we are #5 (??)
But we live in Texas (the North Houston Area) and we pretty much enjoy the same hot and humid weather as the Orlando area. We are big Disney fans and go at least twice (but usually more) per year, plus have been adding DL on these past few years. I originally took my three youngest on the inaugural of the Wonder way back when, then did not cruise DCL for quite a while, but did many other cruise lines. When the Magic came to Texas, we cruised on her and fell back in love with DCL cruising, so have been on the Wonder Repo cruise and DH and I are doing a B2B on the Magic for our 30th. Then Julie (age 20) and I will be doing this one before we board another cruise line for an 8 day. Phew, sorry this is so long! I have also requested to join the FB group.

I've been busy lately with the kids baseball schedules but hubby is traveling this weekend so that frees up my evening to get this done. I also booked my airfare this morning...getting really excited!!!!

We will be on the July 27th Disney Dream cruise. This will be our first Disney cruise and we are very excited. We have cruised on Carnival and Celebrity previously. It will be me, my husband, daughter (17), son (12), son (7), and my mom. We will be going to WDW the week before our cruise and staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter. I have been busy the past month or two working on our dinning plans and reading about the changes with Fast Pass+. I wish it wasn't going to be summer for WDW but I will take what I can get and hopefully everything will work out. Michele

Wow! I started this thread back when I booked this cruise and haven't had time to come back to it. I'm so glad to see so many people posting here who will be on this cruise!

I am very much looking forward to this cruise. I made my Palo and spa reservations on Monday and did my online check in. So it's really starting to feel real.

I will be going to Vero Beach right after the cruise (might see you there FormrCastMbr!), then to WDW to BCV for another few nights. Looking forward to a lot of relaxation!
