Disney Dream - July 27, 2014 - 4 night

We are also going to WDW after our cruise. We are staying in the Animation Resort. Can't wait. I am really hoping the new mine ride will be open by then. I"ve been to be able to ride it since i've heard about it.
Gary: Sorry your middle daughter isn't able to go now. We have a soon to be 25 yr old and a soon to be 20 yr old that are both going with us. It was actually their idea.
We went on our first cruise back in Feb 2012. We absolutely loved it. I would have really would have preferred to go at a time when its not so hot, but we're going to celebrate my hubby's bday on the cruise.

I just joined the Facebook page. We are going to wdw a day early and then heading to Vero Beach after. We are dvc owners and just love vero!

Maybe set the Facebook page as closed so people can see the group and request to join. This way we don't get all crazy people who aren't even going on this cruise joining. Just a suggestion.

We will be on the July 27th Disney Dream cruise. This will be our first Disney cruise and we are very excited. We have cruised on Carnival and Celebrity previously.

It will be me, my husband, daughter (17), son (12), son (7), and my mom.

We will be going to WDW the week before our cruise and staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter. I have been busy the past month or two working on our dinning plans and reading about the changes with Fast Pass+. I wish it wasn't going to be summer for WDW but I will take what I can get and hopefully everything will work out.

Michele

Look at all the activity in the last day......great start.

Joanne, I was able to use your link for the facebook page and I asked to join the group.

Welcome Michele, glad your family is aboard! When my family purchased the vacation club we only had one daughter, as we added to our family and the girls were still small we would go different times of year even in grade school. Once middle school arrived, my girls asked that we not take them out of school (hard to believe they are my children:rotfl2:). So for the last ten years or so......we have been going in August, usually mid August or later after southern schools were back. It does get hot and crowded.....but you are in Disneyworld! My wife Janet and I took a trip last October to WDW without kids and honestly it seemed just as hot and crowded.

FormrCastMbr......how long have you owned DVC? I see you have many posts compaired to the rest of you. Hopefully we can learn from you.

We've owned DVC since 2006 but I've been a Disney fan all my life! Even have a lime green mickey tat! I worked there on the college program in 1990...one of the best times! My niece just consulted at Disney for a few years on the magic band program.

I've been DISing for a while and have made lifelong friends after meeting fellow DISers at meets in the World and NJ, where we are originally from.

This will be my third cruise, first on a Disney cruise. My 26 year old niece talked us into it. She loved the Dream when she went with her girlfriends. It will be me, husband and 2 boy, 5 and 16 on the ship. I used a travel agent to book the cruise. She suggested the adults only brunch. She's a DISer and has been on several cruises so I think we will try that.

My absolute favorite resort is Old Key West and lately we've been spending our summer vacations at Their Vero Beach resort. Check it out if you haven't already...my family just loves it there! Pretty cheap use of points too. An ocean view studio for 1 week is 120 points.

Ok, now you all know I'm a talker but I'm really excited this thread and FB page started! I am also excited about the fish extender. I guess we'll get that started closer to the date? I can kind of organize it if we need to really organize it. I have a friend that explained e whole thing to me. Some great ideas on Pinterest too! Have a great day all!

I want in the fish extender group. This is our first cruise so I'm just learning, but I can help you organize if needed. I'm also in the Facebook group.

Joining the thread because this is my cruise too! I want in on the FE too! I think it sounds fun mostly because my kids will love returning to our room and finding stuff. :-)

Getting excited to cruise with my hubby, daughter (5), son (4) and son (1) and my extended family too! I'm also on the facebook page now too!

WOW I am totally amazed how fast this group has grown in a days time. Its starting to look Great. :yay:
Welcome everybody that has just joined the group.

Formrcastmbr: That is great that you did the college program. I've heard Great things about it. My tried getting in about a yr and a half ago. But unfortunately was turned down. It all worked out in her favor anyway in another direction. Although a indirect family member just did it last year and was Rapunzel for a time. I thought she made a great Rapunzel.

Gary i am glad you joined our fb group.

If anyone else wants to join our FB group here is the link again just in case you couldn't find it.

Welcome Leanne B.

I just posted on Facebook requesting everyone interest in the FE exchange to post.

I think we should see how many rooms we have participating and then figure out how we are going to do the exchange. I think a good deadline for the guidelines on how we are going to do this is April. Then final lists of participants will be distributed the end of May. That will give 2 months to get items for exchange ready.

One thing that sounds good to me is assigning each of us a family to focus on and then do whatever we want the rest of the time. Maybe assigning everyone a day as well to ensure that we get something daily. I don't want it to become too costly or burdensome either.

How does this sound? Please feel free to give any suggestions. I am a newbie to this!

Do you mean we only get one family or can we have more than that? I personally wouldn't mind having more but not to many that it makes it overwhelming and unaffordable. I've heard where some other groups have had over a hundred families and depends on how many is in that family that can add up and be way to much on the pocket book; but that me, there maybe other people that can afford more that what my pocket book can do. I'm just saying that i wouldn't mind having more than one family but not an overwhelming amount either. I hope that makes sense? :)
So maybe at the end of the set date(which ever is decided) that maybe each family can maybe decide how many other families they want? on the other hand it may work out like that either.
I hope i'm not going to cause any problems or issues cause that isn't me. :) I just want this to be fun, affordable and a non over whelming experience for everyone.

Something else to consider that maybe late comers that find out about after our set due date? I do hear about that happening alot.

Oh cool! I've heard of the fish thing, but didn't realize there were groups out there! I found this forum off of Facebook. I'll jump back over there in a minute to join this group there as well.
This will be our first Disney cruise! We're very excited! My family and I hail from Kansas so we don't get to see the ocean very often, but we usually visit WDW every other year or so. A running friend put together a runner's cruise so we will be joining them on these dates as well. Naturally the highlight will be the Castaway Cay 5K! In July. In the Bahamas. Where it's hot. BUT IT'S DISNEY! I'm sure we'll be fine!
There is myself, my wife, and my two daughters ages 11 and 12 who are going. And my friend Ashley and her son who is 12.
We'll be at the WDW Ft. Wilderness campgrounds prior to departing and then staying at Jetty Park campground the Sat. night before the cruise.
Looking forward to joining the fun of fishing! Hope y'all will have us!
Thanks!

Basically, I just suggest that we see how many people we have sign up and go from there. If there are a lot of people we can divide up the names, if there a just maybe 15 or so families, we can give to each.

I don't think we should set too many rules but want to make sure that each family (the kids especially) gets something and dont want it to be a financial burden or take up goo much time.

Does that make sense?

Please let me know your thoughts or suggestions..

Hi!, is that 5k something other guests could join or are you all doing it with the running group? I am not a runner but I did do the tower of terror 10 mile in 2012. I run a mile and get bored...I'm one of those people. :)
