Disney Dream, Jan 15th 2012

Just wanted to pop on again, this surprise cruise just got another surprise our best friends will be traveling with us - total party now 7, Me- cruizen mamma, dh, ds-12 and best friends and their 2 kids ds11,dd7- I doubt will do the FE thing this time since it is so close to the cruise but since this is a surprise I can't share with anyone off the boards. This is our 4th DCL cruise and our friends' 3rd. We are all very excited to be on the new ship!

Hi from Alaska. We are on this cruise and it will be our first. Will be mom, dad and 7 year old son. Looking forward to the warmth in January.

Hello all!

Wow i just checked back after a month long hiatus and was pleasently surprised to see so many new posts! Only 45 days until i board the plane :cool1:

I'm sorry to say that we will not be participating in the FE on this cruise but i hope everyone has a great time :goodvibes Big round of applause to GOHABS GO for taking it up! :worship: Hopefully will have time next cruise to get an FE created or at least ordered :)

Just my 2 cents but i think the meets are typically in a lounge or other area inside the ship....Mickeys pool will probably be a little crazy...

GOHABSGO i laughed when i read your post about the words your kids might learn in french but never fear lol!!! My daughter is just starting to learn french at daycare, we only speak english at home and 'Melino" is my DH! We both love your name :yay: Obviously in Montreal the Habs are a religion:cheer2:

PS Belle091507,

I won't be hard to spot. I'll be the one yelling at the bartender in "687" to turn off the football and turn on the Habs/Rangers game on on Sunday night. Your support will be welcome.

Ahhh that might be a hard one there...NFL playoff game to a regular season NHL game. I think you may lose there.

Good point, I may have to bring something pre-recorded.
If my Lions manage to "stomp" their way into the playoffs, I settle for watching them.

"Stomping"........Lions....Playoffs...HAHAHAHA lol

Its better than a hit to the head .........(Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty has been suspended, without pay, for three games for delivering an illegal hit to the head)

OK, I got a little carried away with "Lions" and "playoffs" in the same post.
It didn't look like Pacioretty targetted his head but that's where he hit him so the suspension is what it is. As for the hit Lucic put on the goalie, Miller - unbelievable. He must have some pics of Shanahan and farm animals.

46 days? I gotta get one of those counters.

Sooo... are we doing kids/dogs only with the option for parents? That way if people have room in there luggage (haha). We can do it and if not... the kids have fun.

Also, quick question. On the Wonder it was really easy to do a quick load of laundry. I am thinking it would make packing easier if i just assume I can do two loads before heading to WDW after cruise.......are the laundry rooms easy to get to on the Dream? Anyone go on a cruise before in Jan that can talk about the weather and packing?

Well, we have done three cruises in January and the only advice I can give on packing is that the weather will be variable. We have had absolutely gorgeous days in the high 70s to low 80s and days when it was rainy, windy, and in the 40s. So be prepared for a wide range of temps. We bring a lightweight fleece and windbreaker along with shorts and short sleeve shirts.

The sports game in the bar will be the early football game. The later game may be shown along with the hockey game, but that depends on what they can pick up on satellite since we will have set sail by then.

To all the LIers, we will be on the 1055 Southwest flight on Saturday. Hope to see some of you there. I have a large number of drink coupons to share if you are going then.

We have also gone in January three times. The first time it was nice and warm, high 70's in Florida. The kids swam in the pool the second we boarded. That was 2007. In 2009 and 2011 it was much cooler. In '09, it was in the low to mid 60's and this past year we went during the cold spell. It was like 10 degrees when we left NY and only high 30's to low 40's in Florida. Luckily, it warmed up and we have never seen anything below 77 in the Bahamas or other Caribbean countries (usually low to mid 80's there) or Castaway Cay. Although other than the first trip, the water at CC was on the chilly side but if you live up north it might not be as cold as those who live down south.

We have always been able to see both games , although the second one did keep going in and out as the reception was spotty. They will turn on whatever they can at that point, even a Spanish station showing the game if they had to.

Oh that's too bad Bill, we are flying down Thursday on Jet Blue out of JFK and spending a couple of nights at the Contemporary and then renting a car to drive down on Saturday. I would have loved helping you use some of those coupons.

Still waiting for any good deals from the two rental companies I usually use. They haven't put out their beat deals for January yet.

There are many more laundry rooms on he Dream than what are on the Magic and Wonder. The locations of the laundry rooms are as follows:
deck 2 (opposite 2002), deck 5 (opposite 5192), deck 6 (opposite 6508), deck 7 (opposite 7014),
deck 8 (opposite 8150), deck 9 (opposite 9500) and deck 10 (opposite 10572).

Each location has at least 4 washers and 2 dryers, 1 iron and ironing board and a folding table and seating bench. The location on deck 6, I think, has 8 washers, 4 dryers and 2 irons/ironing boards.

Also there is no need to carry quarters. All the machines are only activated by your KTTW card. The load of wash (45 minute cycle) and/or dry (45 minute cycle) and even purchase laundry supplies (Tide, Clorox and/or Downey) will all be charged to your account.

I'm reminded of the scene in Dumb and Dumber: "so you're saying there's a chance!"

We are on your flight. Small World (pun intended):rotfl:

Can anyone tell me...
We've booked through DCL and chose to have them take care of the flights. I've looked through hundreds of pages on this site but haven't seen anyone relate their experiences from doing the same.
Anyone know what kind of flight times I might expect coming out of Detroit? I'm wondering whether we should get out early and spend a night or two in FL so there's a more leisurely schedule on embarkation day...maybe I've answered my own question - is there ever anything wrong with lengthening a vacation?

Private Shuttle service from Dream the morning we return to Riverside....... What is the earliest time I can meet the shuttle?? (I would not mind breakfast on MainStreet USA).

As a side note, my birthday is Christmas EVE. When I blow out my candels I am pretty sure I will be wishing for great weather on our cruise. So we should all be good to go!!
