Is everyone recovering from the long weekend?

Pigletsmomma - very cool document! I wonder what's in the Canary Islands - I didn't think that was one of the normal stops on the transatlantic cruises... I'm afraid I couldn't make the link work, though...

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I think I am still recovering from Black Friday!

Pigletsmomma - I couldn't get the link to work either.

We had an interesting weekend. I worked all day Thanksgiving day (till 7PM). Did the Black Friday thing from 3AM-11AM. Saturday we drove over to Cocoa Beach for the Art festival and to pick up race packets at Kennedy Space Center, saw the Magic in port on the way over, and ran into Scott and Lynn at packet pick up. On Sunday we took the same bus as Scott and Lynn to the Start Line and walked with Scott for a while during the half marathon. On the way home we drove past the Wonder at the port. DCL ship still look much nicer than the other cruise line ships. Alex

I was very busy over the Thanksgiving holiday getting all the names input into my badge making program. These are the names of folks that haven't responded, or as you can see, didn't provide names for the cruise list.

If anyone knows any of these folks, please let them know that I'm looking for additional information inorder to complete the name badges.

How many people are taking the magic express? I had booked it but now I am thinking it gets there too late. Anyone know what time boarding starts?

the port usually opens at 10 with boarding close to noon-wondering if everyone will show up earlier this time.

anyone want to link for main dining? also any teens out there?

Any GTY's got a cabin yet? Still waiting on mine ... Is this a good sign for a potential upgrade?

Just talked to DCL about transfers because we are arriving the night before the cruise. They said that, because we're staying at the airport, all we have to do is go to the magical express terminal and catch the bus--that no reservation was needed, as we already purchased the transfer and the buses run constantly from the airport to the port (they start leaving around 10am). Then, when we get off the cruise, we just have to tell them which resort we are going to. Has anyone ever had a similar experience, or gone from the airport the port?

I just barely got my GTY assignment for the Dec 29th Magic New Year's Eve cruise, so I bet you are still at least a couple of weeks out.

We have flown in the morning of the cruise and arrived at MCO at 8:30 a.m. and yes, we just went down to the Magical Express area in the terminal and got right in the line for the cruise and our bus left shortly after 10 a.m. and we were to Port Canaveral around 11 a.m.

And yes, when you get off the cruise, as long as you have already purchased your transfers, DCL will direct you to go out the left doors of the terminal after you clear customs. A DCL cast member will ask you where you are going and you tell them the resort and then they tell you what bus to go to. When the bus is full, they will head to Orlando. Be aware though that there is usually more than one resort on each bus, so plan on possibly making a stop before you get to yours.

Hope that helps.

Thanks! I figured the to Orlando from the port wouldn't be a problem. It sounds just like catching Magical Express from the airport to the resorts; which is what I expected. I was just a little concerned about the airport to port--I figured there would be a set pickup/departure time, but it too sounds like the same procedure as when you catch Magical Express to the resort.

My son will be turning 14 on the trip. Do you have a girl or boy teenager?

What is "GTY"?

GTY stands for guarantee. It means that you have booked a specific category of cabin (i.e. 5a) but aren't assigned a cabin number. You are guaranteed at least the category you have booked. As the cruise gets closer, you will be given a cabin in at least that category (or if you're lucky, a better one .... known on the boards as a pixie dust upgrade)
