Disney Dream Inaugural Cruise 1/26/2011 Part 2

PS about our room (and I will include this in my trip report.
Kerri from Tobago was great as our room steward.
Our room was quite lovely but at all hours of the night and early am I kept hearing what sounded like a heavy door sliding open.
This could be because we were close to the elevator.
The noise did wake us up several times.

Greetings fellow MVers! Hope you all had a wonderful time. :)

Just curious if any of you have a great picture of Donald when he rode on the AquaDuck or even a video clip that I could have a copy of. I'd truly appreciate it, as we were eating brunch in Palo @ that time, so we missed it. My oldest daughter saw it, but she had nothing on her to take pics/vid with.

& To all those that provided the lanyards and custom name-tags, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! We truly appreciated them and your kindness in providing them for so many of us is simply wonderful. Thanks again!:thumbsup2

I've got the Duck riding 'The Duck' - I'll post the link once it's uploaded later today.

I actually loved the bathrooms throughout the ship! They all had such character based upon the area they were in!! I LOVED the circular door in the bathrooms outside Evolution!! The bathroom outside the Animators Palate was great too...if you look up you see twinkling stars!!! Take it to Disney to theme the bathrooms...LOVED IT!! D:)

A HUGE thank you to the Dis Boarders we met over the weekend!! Everyone was even more helpful and nice in person!! Nothing like getting together with a bunch of folks who LOVE Disney. I loved the lanyards...thanks for organizing Ken!! The tour was fantastic...great opportunity to see all of the different staterooms!! I can't wait to go back in April over Easter!! D:)

Lynn and I were talking and really enjoyed the whole experience, I really wished we had more time to meet more folks,

More deep thoughts later.......we are still at WDW

The Maiden Voyage was awesome. We were able to get in to the Rain Forest, just made the cut, but no Palo reservations available... I did not even ask about Remy. That's okay, save it for next time.

Want to say sorry to Ken for not meeting up with him to get the lanyards, and THANK YOU for putting them at our room.

We had excellent service in the dinning rooms as we have had the same server for 3 cruises now, she is excellent.. Sarah from England... Although her assistant seemed overwhelmed most of the time, I am sure he will catch on. He had issues with little things like I prefer Lime in my diet coke, and asked for it, he consistently brought me a lemon... But he was trying hard and just needs some help with English.

Loved all the free gifts especially the print from "Ducky". My wife saw that original in the gallery and loved it. She was VERY excited when a print of that one showed up in the state room.

Mike Supper adult show was a blast. He took my wedding ring and interlocked it with three other rings... Still have no idea how he did that even when he pulled them apart right in front of me.

The retail stores were the most disappointing... All I wanted was a hat that said Maiden Voyage, and since I did not want to spend my vacation standing in line there was no chance. Maybe Disney needs to include these type of items in the RSP.

As for the D&B hand bags we did get a tip that they were taking orders for them so my wife was able to order what she wanted and we will get it in 6 weeks. I am told that is perfect since "these are spring / summer bags" and that timing made her happy!! So, anyone going back on the ship, maybe that will help you.

This trip was a blast. Now to start preparing for Alaska on August 9th

Oh I almost forgot, I found a paper napkin from cookies BBQ, look for it on
EBay

This is EXACTLY what DCL needs to do. Have ALL specialty merchandise available via RSP (pins, hats, tees, etc.), but they also need to make sure that EVERYONE knows about the RSP b/c I ran into more than one person that had no idea, so they ended up being SOL unless they were able to get any of the leftover items once they were released on the last night in the shops. My DH wanted one of those hats as well as a certain tee that they didn't have in his size once we actually saw the MV merch later on in the evening of night 1. It'd really be nice if they could offer that stuff now (after the fact) to those MVers that didn't get what they wanted, such as they are doing w/ the Dooney & Burke Inaugural Cruises purses that they sold out of. They were offering those for mail order on the last night w/ no charge to ship it to you either. Just a thought DCL in case you have anyone reading this thread. ;)

OMG!!! :scared1:
Did they really?!?!?!?
Why didn't they make that known easier, I would've ordered one... urgh!
This is another merchandise thing they botched during the cruise.

I wonder if they'd still let me order from home... hmm...

So miss being on the Dream!

Had a great time, and only regret is not meeting more DISers! Forgot where to get my lanyards, and never seemed to catch up after that.

But I met Shel, so the trip was complete!

Also met Pete and Walter, and even got Walter to say "SPOOKTACULAR"!

Loved the Oceaneer's Club, the Interactive Art, the stores, all of it.

Sadly disappointed with the service in the restaurants. A real black eye that I hope they can repair soon, as it really impacted our enjoyment of the overall trip. Fortunately Cabanas was WONDERFUL! And our room attendant (Lorenzio) was so great that I thought my girls might cry when they had to leave the ship if they didn't get to say goodbye to him.

I also wanted to thank Ken for delivering our lanyards.

We had a great cruise!

If anyone finds more info on placing an order for a D&B purse, I would love the link as well. And I only want 1 (for me and not for Ebay!)

I too only wanted 1 zipper MV jacket, and no luck, and was not going to spend my entire evening waiting in line to "maybe" get to see one. I hope that Disney thinks of this next time and puts the hats, tees, jackets, pins and such on a RSP for next time as well.

But I will not let the "greed" of many people who walked out with handfuls of merchandise... ruin my memories and experience of this amazing Maiden Voyage!

Thank you to all!

Hi all! WOW! what an experience! Thanks for sharing it! So - who all is going to do a trip report?

I also wanted to offer my apologies on the DVC picture meet - I had chosen Disney transportation and found out Tuesday night they weren't picking up until 12:30 at SSR - and by the time we boarded and stopped at CBR to pick up some more passengers we didn't make it to port until 2. Then DCLShel and I were in lucky group 36! Which we learned is the last boarding group number they give out... I finally made it on the Dream around 2:40.

And now, sadly, back to the real work. More later!

As I said Michelle, they were sweeping up the terminal as we were getting on the ship! :lmao:

We didn't even get a boarding number! Our plane was so late, that we almost missed the boat. As we boarded, CMs were in lifejackets heading to muster drill. :rotfl:

Sounds like you all had a blast, we can't wait!

Hope you don't mind a question. We are cruising on a B2B on Feb. 20th and we are wondering if the Aquaduck is sticking to the height limit of 48" for kids and does that include if they are accompanied by a parent?

I have 3 kids but our youngest doesn't quite make the cut and if he isn't allowed on the Aquaduck at all, we need to let him know before we get there or a major meltdown will occur.

When we tried with our youngest, they did stick with the height limit. He missed it by 1 inch. Even with an adult rider they would not let him on. He was bummed, but not for long. He just going down the mickey slide.

We only tried the one time.

I too saw a young boy get rejected when he tried to ride the duck with his sister. He was about 3 or 4 inches too small. The CM said that the engineers spec'd the ride at 48" for safety reasons.

This is another merchandise thing they botched during the cruise.

I wonder if they'd still let me order from home... hmm...

The ONLY reason I even found out is b/c we were in the shops and I saw a print out that had the 4 different styles of those purses w/ the prices and someone was speaking to a CM about it. So I waited patiently and then got the paper myself and asked Chris (UK) about it. He verified that they could be ordered and sent to your home w/ no shipping cost to the customer. I didn't end up ordering one b/c honestly, you never know how the cut of the materials is going to turn out and the 'important' pictures may end up being cut-off or something like that, then what would you do, kwim? We don't have another cruise booked for this year, so I would have no way of returning it if I didn't end up liking the one that they sent. *sigh* So I just skipped it and figure that if we do end up doing another Dream cruise this year, they'll probably have more on them at that time, since they were Inaugural Cruise(s) Disney Dream Dooney's and not just Maiden Voyage Dooneys. ;)

You can always call DCL and ask to speak to someone in Merchandising and see if you can still order one. Hopefully you can! :goodvibes
