Any ideas what this will be like? I get conflicting pictures on the cruise website and from research I have been trying to do and am trying to plan my kids sleeping arrangements. Do I need to provide you guys with my stateroom umber DH doesn't want me to give out THAT much info lol.

We were in a Category 4B (#8086) on the Fantasy last week. As far as I know, the Dream and Fantasy have the same layout. I have pictures of stateroom if you would like for me to post them, or I can try to answer your questions.

We've stayed in Cat. 4B staterooms every time on the Dream (8130, 8634 and 8632). We'll also be in a Cat. 4B stateroom again in Oct.

I have pictures of the beds down from our stay in 8130 that may help you.
Please send your e-mail if you care to and I'll be glad to send them.

Here are pictures from our 4B

There is a murphy bed at the end near the doors. A pull down bed and the sofa turns into a bed.

Picture with the pull down bed out, you can see the cupboard with the Murphy bed in the background.

I realize the pictures above are from an 8B, but our 4B stateroom didn't have the murphy bed. It only had the pull-down berth. Otherwise the layout looks the same.

That was a mistype should say 4B, I will fix it:lmao:

Thank you for the replies and pictures. We are sleeping 4. I am not sure that we will have the murphy bed. It wasn't mentioned by the person we booked with. I have been trying to figure out how the bed pulled down. My DD can't wait for the animated "skylight". We are in 8140. Some of the photos I saw on the DCL site showed 2 showers some didn't (if I remember correctly), some showed the bed down and some up but I couldn't tell how it came down. I'm fairly certain we won't have 2 showers. We booked through DVC thanks to the bank and borrow program otherwise I couldn't have done a cruise with the way things were at the time we booked. (Finances, schedules, etc.) Big changes have happened just in the short time since we booked so I am hoping to take advantage of any deals they may offer to take a longer cruise next year. Everyone tells me it is cheaper to book the next one while on the boat. Is that accurate?

The only cabins, on any of the four ships, that have more than one shower are the one and two bedroom suites. You will have a split bath with the shower in one side and a sink, etc. in the other. We've been in a 4B on the Magic and it was very similar to the pictures above. Your stateroom attendant unlocks the bed and lowers it with a special key (same is true for a murphy bed).

As for booking on board - yes it can be less expensive to book on board. They offer a 10% discount on the cruise portion of the fare (not including port charges, taxes, etc.) an onboard credit to use on that future cruise, and usually a reduced deposit. We usually price out the cruise we want to book prior to boarding so we have a general idea of pricing.

Thank you so much for clearing that up. I knew there was no way we had two showers. Now I know how the bed comes down... lol. We'll have to look up info on any cruise we may be interested in.

On the Dream, stateroom 8140 has a murphy bed. Most likely, it will have one on the Fantasy, as well.

I'm thinking we won't have the murphy bed because it wasn't mentioned. Either way DH and I are pretty happy (I just showed him the pics). All he wants is a bed, balcony and bathroom.

You can always call and ask if you're worried about it.

We liked not have the murphy bed. It seemed like we had more room without it. :thumbsup2

So does that mean our room technically sleeps 5?

If your room has the murphy bed, it does sleep 5 - two in the bed, one each on the sofa sleeper, upper bunk and murphy. Since you only have 4 people, I would suggest you not use the murphy. If it is down, it is difficult to go to the verandah.

Thanks for all the information. My husband wants the balcony most so if we do have the Murphy bed, it won't end up used, although I think my son would prefer it. I am sure he would find it interesting:thumbsup2
